ENMESHED FAMILY
What type of family is referred to as the Enmeshed family?
Enmeshed family refers to a family unit where individuals have a collapsed sense of personal boundaries and are emotionally dependent on one another.
I called them Entangled Family
In such a family, there is a significant level of emotional “stickiness,” where the individual members have a high degree of involvement in each other's lives.
It is often characterized by the absence of clearly defined roles, excessive involvement in each other's lives, and an insular perspective.
The influence of enmeshment in a family unit has both its benefits and its drawbacks.
ADVANTAGES
In such families, there is often a high level of cohesiveness, with everyone working together towards shared goals. This is the kind of family who loves to help one another to any length
This cohesiveness can manifest in different ways, such as collective celebrations, communal decision-making, and support for each other. They are always there for one another.
These are good, right? But the negative effect of it is on the high side.
DISADVANTAGES
🎯 High degree of control: Everyone in the family controls one another
🎯 Poor emotional regulation, and significant difficulties that can make life more difficult for family members: They get so affected by one another, this makes them fight a lot, and they insult one another out of rage because of the excessive attachment. This kind of family might end up going their different ways in the future. Because the deeper the love, the deeper the hurt
🎯 Lack of personal boundaries.
The family members are so tightly knit that they don't have the freedom to have individual interests or experiences. There is too close to family.
🎯 Loss of personal identity.
As everyone's needs are molded together into one. This can be stressful and leave no room for individual personal growth. Every member of the family lives a jointed life, instead of individuals living their God-
