For the first time in Kenya’s history, we’ve seen grown men, strong, and stoic openly weeping in public. The death of Raila Amollo Odinga has unveiled a rare, raw side of our collective humanity. We had state burials for both Mzee Moi and Mwai Kibaki, yet none stirred emotions like this. So what made Raila different?
Maybe it’s the infectious kind of love that seeps deep into the bone marrow beyond tribe, beyond politics. Or maybe it’s the realization that an era has ended, leaving behind many who considered themselves Baba’s children, political orphans now standing in the shadow of his legacy.
What we’re witnessing is not just mourning for a man, but the grief of a people who felt seen, heard, and represented by him. Love of this magnitude—
, pure, public, and unashamed might never be witnessed again in our nation’s political landscape.
One lesson stands out clearly: leadership is not only about power or position, but about connection, about touching hearts in ways that outlive titles and time.
🕊🕯Rest Well Baba Raila Amollo Odinga🕊🕯
