Several days ago, I accepted an invitation from President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni of Uganda for a joint meeting with President William Samoei Ruto today to discuss the deepening of regional integration within the East African Community. Crucially, at the urging of President Museveni, we also discussed my candidacy for Chairperson of the African Union Commission. I am very grateful to President Museveni for strongly endorsing my candidacy and to President Ruto for fully backing it. We took time out of our busy engagement to visit President Museveni’s wonderous cattle farm in Kisozi.

Kenyans will breathe a sigh of relief after EPRA reduced the prices of Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene by Ksh 1 per litre respectively.

In the latest review, petrol will retail for Ksh 206.36, Diesel for Ksh 195.47 and kerosene for Ksh 193.23 in Nairobi.

Held productive engagements with Cabinet Secretary for Water, Sanitation, and Irrigation, Zachariah Njeru, alongside MPs Protus Akuja (Loima) and Emathe Namuar (Turkana Central), in Maji House, Nairobi.

We discussed plans to collaborate on irrigation schemes for enhanced crop production, exploration of Lotikipi aquifers and other groundwater resources in Turkana.

Also explored partnership to develop water harvesting infrastructure in Turkana, including water pans and mega dams, to tackle water challenges and promote food production.

Turkana Tourism and Cultural Festival Planning Committee open its door to partners.

The County Executive for Tourism, Culture, Natural Resources and Climate change Dr. Iris Mario has confirmed plans by the Tourism and Cultural Festival Planning Committee to accommodate partners in their subsequent sittings in a bid to make the process more inclusive.

Speaking after a consultative meeting with the representatives of the Turkana Chapter of Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry(KNCCI), CEC Mariao announced that the decision was driven by the need to strengthen resource mobilization basket for the annual event scheduled from 25th to 29th September 2023.

Ref. Ob no. 83/17/05/2023 at 1158hrs. It was reported by Mr Peter Muriithi of telephone number a business man within Lodwar town that, at about 2215hrs while at his hotel counter, three male adults one armed with an AK-47 assault rifle entered and ordered him to open his cash box. When he hesitated, they fired two rounds towards the counter. He surrendered and opened the cash box. They took approximately Ksh. 20,000/= which was the day's sales, then the robbers tried to escape using a motorbike which failed to ignite. Bodaboda riders at the adjacent stage started shouting for help. They tried to fire one round in air to scare them away but their firearm developed a stoppage. Police officers from Lodwar Police Station and DCI Turkana central rushed to the scene and managed to recover an AK-47 assault rifle with obliterated serial number and a magazine loaded with 9 rounds of 7.62mm special. Furious members of the public overpowered police and lynched the three suspects. At the scene, three bullet heads, three spent cartridges and one live bullet of 7.62mm special were recovered. Also a numberless motorcycle suspected to be used by the suspects of make Honda, red in colour and chassis number BF0JA3092HS208144 was recovered and a national identity card bearing names LOSIKE NGIBEYO ERUKUDI and number 31702070, Division Turkwel, Location Nadapal and Sub- location Napeikar was recovered from one of the suspect's Pocket. No cash was recovered.The scene was processed and documented accordingly. The exhibit has been booked and detained in police custody as they await for ballistic actions as the three bodies were taken to Lodwar county referral hospital morgue awaiting autopsy and identification . *Governor Lomorukai Keeps Promise, Deploys 120 County Staff*

Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai today presided over the issuance of deployment letters to 120 county staff who had been employed in 2020 but had not been posted. The ceremony took place at the Lodwar Vocational Training Centre.

In his remarks, the Governor said the move was in keeping with a promise he had made during the campaigns. He said he felt for the plight of the individuals who had undergone the recruitment process but had been denied employment.

“I had promised that if God allowed me to be elected Governor, I was going to ensure that the 120 individuals who applied for jobs and were successful but denied the opportunity to work will get their deployment letters. This is not politics because I don’t care where you come from, I simply felt for you,” he said.

The Governor urged the new staff to be diligent in service and report to the duty stations they had been posted without fail or push for transfers.

“You looked for this job and were successful among many others. I ask that you love your county and what you do, believing that your contribution is what will change this county and make Turkana a great county for all of us,” he added.

He assured the staff of his support and that of the entire executive but called for discipline and adherence to the code of conduct from all county officers.

The Governor thanked the County Assembly for allocating funds to allow the deployment of the staff and commended the County Public Service Board for due diligence in the employment of the officers

County Secretary Peter Eripete challenged the officers to repay the Governor’s goodwill by delivering on their jobs.

County Executive for Public Service, Administration and Disaster Management James Wangiros, County Public Service Board Chairperson Pauline Ekod, Chief of Staff Peter Yoromoe and Principal Human Resource Officer Joseph Ng’atotin were among senior staff who attended the ceremony.

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) released its review starting Monday, May 15, after maintaining pump prices in April. The regulator slapped Kenyans with KSh 3.4, KSh 6.4 and KSh 15.19 increase per litre of super petrol, diesel and kerosene, respectively.

For instance now, This means the pump prices in Nairobi will increase to KSh 182.7 per litre of petrol, KSh 168.4 for diesel and KSh 161.13 for kerosene. So, the prices will different starting today Monday 15th in different cities and towns in Kenya including Turkana county. We always ensure we keep you up to date.
