AN MCA IN SOUTH RIFT VALLEY HAS COME OUT AND DEMAND AN APOLOGY FROM A CABINET SECRETARY OF TRANSPORT OVER HIS RECENT SENTIMENT ON SGR ROUTES.
Hon.Peter Kipchirchir Ronoh representing the residents of Kipsonoi ward in Sotik constituency,Bomet county has today come out boldly and demanded an apology from the cabinet secretary of roads and transport Hon.Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen over his resent sentiment on SGR routes.
The mentioned member of county assembly through his official page claimed that,he is persuaded to make his comments on the sentiment uttered by the said cabinet secretary touching on the standard gauge railway which has now stalled for a while. It was intended to go to Kisumu via Bomet county.
According to honourable member,Kipchumba is trying to change the initial routes terming the counties of Bomet and Narok as forest 'bush'
Ronoh who is one of the respected leaders in Bomet county is now demanding an apology claiming that, the current government is in place because of 350,000 votes it got from the said county.
He further claimed that,Bomet county needs more economics activities such as SGR, referral hospitals, airport among others.
The optimistic leader further called upon the cabinet secretary to stick to the initial planned and allow the SGR to pass through Sotik so as to improve the livelihood of the residents in the said county.
However, the CS Hon.Onesimus Murkomen came out in the couple of days ago and disconstructed the claims of change of routes adding that the government will stick to the initial routes when the construction resumes.
Through his official facebook account,Murkomen called upon kenyans to ignore the fake news, adding that the ministry is to extend the SGR in the long run and has already planned to Kisumu and Malaba via Narok and to Nakuru and eventually Malaba.
Onesimus further added that,it would has made more economic sense in the second phase to terminate the line in Narok and Naivasha or Nakuru towns instead of Miti Moja .
According to Kipchumba, the government at the moment doesn't have resources to construct the SGR, however he says,if the government gets little support the SGR will be terminated in Narok and Naivasha or Nakuru for it to attract sufficient business interests especially in commuter services.
Murkomen was distancesting himself from the news which was published by one of the leading platform a couple of days ago on the said matter.
It was alleged that the cabinet secretary had said 'There will be no need for the railway to be taken to the bush ,we will take it to the city Nakuru,Eldoret and then Kisumu and thereafter connect to Uganda'
So far Hon.Peter Ronoh is the first leader in Bomet county to come out boldly and demanded an apology from the cabinet secretary other leaders from the said region have remained mum on the matters.
