Shocking Rise in Kidney Trafficking in Eldoret: The Dark Side of Organ Harvesting

In the heart of Kipkenyo, Eldoret, a horrifying trend is emerging—youths are secretly selling their kidneys, lured by quick cash and empty promises.

A 22-year-old man fell victim to this dangerous trade earlier this year, selling his kidney without informing anyone.

His prize? A phone, which he quickly lost to gambling. Now, broke and battling health complications, his single mother is left to nurse him as she struggles to survive.

This is not an isolated case. The young man claims others in the village have also sold their kidneys, but fear exposure. Their reasons? Organ brokers are targeting the most vulnerable, those desperate to escape poverty or make a quick buck, preying on their innocence and dreams.

The situation in Eldoret is dire, with parents left devastated as their sons fall into the hands of ruthless kidney traffickers.

These organ brokers sell the kidneys overseas for a whopping Ksh 700,000, while the local youths barely receive Ksh 200,000, risking their lives for a fraction of the profit.

Despite the Kenya Renal Association's investigation and findings earlier this year, no significant action has been taken.

Meanwhile, rumors circulate that powerful figures and local executives are profiting from this dark trade.

Where do we draw the line?

How many more lives will be lost before something is done?

**University of Eldoret Partners with Kitale Health Facilities After Visit to Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya**

In a major development, the University of Eldoret has officially partnered with Kitale Health Facilities to enhance healthcare education. The partnership was sealed after a delegation from the university, led by Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof. Philip Raburu, visited Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya.

During the visit, constructive discussions were held, leading to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the university and Kitale Health Facilities. This partnership will transform the health facilities into training centers where students studying health-based courses at the university will receive hands-on experience and mentoring from experts.

Governor George Natembeya expressed his support for the collaboration, which promises to improve healthcare services and the training of future medical professionals.
