Upholding Professional Standards:
A Reminder from FKF Trans-Nzoia Branch Chairman Isaac Munene

A Call for Compliance in Match Officiation

In a strong directive aimed at safeguarding the integrity of football in Trans-Nzoia County, FKF Chairman Isaac Munene has issued an important reminder to all referees. This announcement emphasizes the need for adherence to official protocols when officiating matches within the county.

Why Sanctioning Matters

Sanctioning by FKF is more than just a procedural requirement—it’s a safeguard for the quality and integrity of the game. Through the sanctioning process:

• Matches are ensured to comply with FIFA and FKF standards.

• Safety of players, referees, and other stakeholders is prioritized.

• Conflicts and disputes over officiation are minimized.

By adhering to this directive, referees will not only safeguard their reputation but also ensure that football in Trans-Nzoia thrives in a structured and fair environment.

FKF Chairman Isaac Munene’s Thanksgiving Meeting with Football Delegates in Trans-Nzoia

Date: November 26, 2024
Location: Kitale

The newly elected FKF Trans-Nzoia Chairman, Isaac Munene, addressed football delegates in Kitale during a thanksgiving meeting. In his inaugural speech, Munene outlined a transformative agenda aimed at revamping football in the county. Below are the highlights of his comprehensive plan for the sport:

Quarter One Priorities

1. Enhancing Refereeing Standards

Munene emphasized the importance of integrity and professionalism among referees. He outlined the following measures:

• Clean Refereeing: Ensuring fairness in officiating games and eradicating biased practices.

• First Meeting Tomorrow: A crucial meeting with referees has been scheduled for tomorrow to address key concerns and set new expectations.

2. League Formation

A structured league system will be established to foster competitive football across the county:

• 18 Teams: The league will consist of 18 teams, with 3 teams from each of the county's six sub-counties.

• Prize Money: A prize pool of KES 300,000 will be introduced to reward excellence.

3. Governor’s Cup as a Talent Pipeline

Munene proposed leveraging the Governor’s Cup as a key platform for talent identification:

• End Product – Kitale FC: The ultimate goal is to form a county flagship team, Kitale FC, from the tournament's top performers.

• Employment Opportunities: Players and the technical bench of Kitale FC will be employed to ensure sustainability.

4. Oversight Committee Formation

To ensure transparency and accountability, an Oversight Committee will be established, comprising delegates from across the county.

5. Physical Office and Website

Munene pledged to establish a physical office for FKF Trans-Nzoia, providing a central point for football operations. Additionally, a website will be launched to enhance communication and accessibility.

Referee Management and Development

To streamline and enhance refereeing in the county, the chairman announced the following directives:

• Merging Factions: All existing referee factions will be unified to create a cohesive refereeing body.

• Elections: Referees will have 30 days to elect a new chairperson to lead their activities.

• Waiver for County League Registration: Registration fees for referees officiating in the county league will be waived.

• Discipline: Strict disciplinary measures will be instilled within the refereeing fraternity to uphold professionalism.

Conclusion

Isaac Munene’s ambitious agenda promises to usher in a new era of football development in Trans-Nzoia. His focus on transparency, inclusivity, and professionalism sets the stage for sustainable growth. Delegates expressed optimism, pledging their support for the outlined initiatives. Munene's leadership is poised to transform Trans-Nzoia into a football powerhouse in the region.

**West Pokot Delegates Rally Behind Mariga for FKF Vice Presidency**

On October 30th, West Pokot delegates warmly welcomed FKF Vice President hopeful McDonald Mariga in Kapenguria, voicing strong support for the ticket and a fresh start for football.

Reflecting on past experiences, delegates shared frustration over being marginalized. Comments like “achana na Wapokot hawajui mpira” ("ignore the Pokot; they don’t know football") under former FKF leadership discouraged their efforts. Despite Kapenguria’s four Division 2 teams and a wealth of high-school talent, poor infrastructure, high referee training costs, and limited grassroots funding stifle growth.

Delegates also want to shake off stereotypes and bring recognition to their region’s talent. Lacking youth leagues and basic resources like “FIFA for Schools” balls, they feel sidelined and hope Mariga’s leadership will prioritize grassroots development.

With a call for better support, West Pokot backs Mariga to champion their potential and help establish a brighter, inclusive future for football.

Trans Nzoia County Assembly Pushes for CECM Ouster Amid Speculation

In a dramatic turn of events, Trans Nzoia County assembly legislators are calling for the removal of several County Executive Committee Members (CECMs), including those in charge of lands, sports, and the county secretary. The notice of motion, tabled on October 29, has sparked intense public debate, with limited official reasons given for the proposed dismissals. However, some residents are hinting that the move may be fueled by personal vendettas rather than genuine administrative concerns. As the situation unfolds, the county awaits Governor Natembeya's response and any further developments that might clarify the motivations behind this motion.

Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
