Big Hunter Elected as President of Eastern Equatoria State Artist Union
Eastern Equatoria State Artist Union have on Saturday held a free and fair election to elect their new president, in Torit the capital of Eastern Equatoria State. The election was officiated by the State ministry of culture, youth, and sports and Whitaker Peace and Development Initiative (WPDI). Big Hunter emerged as the winner, taking the helm of the union.
Director for culture, Mr. Justin Thompson, addressed the participants, congratulating them on selecting the right person for the job. He also encouraged artists to cooperate with the state government as the nation heads towards elections.
The field manager of Whitaker Peace and Development Initiative (WPDI), Emmanuel Boniface who was present at the event, acknowledged the artist union for starting to knock on doors and expressed readiness to support them. He also urged artists to always work together and support each other.
The election of Big Hunter as the president of the Eastern Equatoria State Artist Union is a significant step towards promoting the arts and culture in the region. The new president has pledged to work closely with the state government and other stakeholders to ensure that the interests of artists are well represented.
