Growing up in my village, there was a practice called Ong'ora. This is where a young man would agree with a lady to pick her at night for “co-curricular activities,” then es**rt her back before sunrise.

The biggest enemies of Ong'ora were always two things: noisy dogs and vigilant fathers or brothers. Now, village boys were very innovative. If a dog started barking, they would throw it a small bone. As the dog happily concentrated on chewing its “bribe,” the boys would have enough time to signal the girl.

We used to live with one of my cousins who had a very healthy appetite for village romance, so Ong'ora was almost a full-time career for her.

One night at around 9pm, I felt the urgent need to answer call of nature. Back then, village washrooms were basically “the nearby bush.” So as I walked into the darkness, someone suddenly sprinted into the thicket like he had seen the angel of death. Me too, I panicked and ran back to the house immediately. My stomach issue remained unresolved.

Later, I discovered it was one of the boys who had come to pick my cousin. The fellow saw me approaching and assumed I had spotted him. Worse still, when I bent down to pluck “toiletries” — and if you grew up in the village, you know toiletries meant leaves, he thought I was bending to pick a stone and attack him.

The truth is, I had not even seen him. I was not preparing for war. I was simply looking for paraphernalia to conduct my mission. But in his mind, he had already imagined headlines: “Village boy beaten during Ong'ora mission.” So he fled for his life before the battle had even started.

And that is exactly how many people live their lives.
Fear creates battles that do not exist.
Fear turns leaves into stones.
Fear manufactures enemies that were never there.
Fear can make an opportunity look like danger.
Some of us are running from things that were never chasing us.

You will never know what is possible until you make a move.

Daniel 10:2-13
“Do not be afraid, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard...” as we continue with our fasting we use this scripture to encourage ourselves as we pray concerning “breaking chains and strongholds," here we see Daniel remaining in prayer and fasting even when the answers seemed delayed yet behind the silence spiritual battles were taking place until God released victory and the answer finally came forth in its appointed time.

There are moments in life when a person can pray for a long season and still feel as though nothing is changing...you may fast, cry before God and seek Him sincerely yet the chains may not seem to break as quickly as you expected but through this scripture, God reminds us that some prayers are heard from the very first day even when our eyes cannot yet see the manifestation.

There are people who have battled spiritual strongholds for years strongholds of fear, stagnation, silent suffering, family burdens and repeated spiritual warfare but today God is assuring you that no stronghold can stand forever before His presence, what has resisted your progress for a long time shall finally break in the mighty name of Jesus.

As you continue with this fasting don't allow the silence of the present season to weaken your faith keep praying standing before God and seek Him wholeheartedly because the same God who heard Daniel from the very first day is the same God listening to your prayers even now...your victory has not been cancelled, your breakthrough has not been denied and every chain shall break at the appointed time ordained by God 🙏🙏🙏
