President William Ruto officially opened the Kilifi County International Investment Conference in Vipingo, Kilifi County, lauding counties for their pivotal role in driving Kenya’s socio-economic transformation.

The President highlighted the government's progress in creating investment-friendly environments, including establishing flagship Export Processing Zones (EPZs) in Busia, Eldoret, Murang’a, and Kirinyaga, which are over 50% complete.

He also announced that 39 Special Economic Zones (SEZs) have been licensed across the country, with 10 situated at the Coast.

President William Ruto has signed into law the Division of Revenue (Amendment) Bill, 2024, the Rating Bill, 2022, and the Water (Amendment) Bill, 2024, at State House, Nairobi.

The Division of Revenue (Amendment) Act allocates KSh387 billion as the equitable share of revenue to counties for the 2024/2025 financial year. The Act also allocates KSh2.2 trillion to the National Government.

The National Rating Act provides a standardized framework for property valuation and rating, setting clear guidelines for counties to assess property values and impose rates.

The Water (Amendment) Act allows for public-private partnerships to finance water infrastructure, boosting collaboration in the sector.
