Located about 50 kilometers from the center of Tokyo and 40 kilometers from the urban districts of Yokohama and Kawasaki, Miyagase Dam is the largest dam in the Tokyo Metropolitan Area. It was completed in 2001 on Nakatsugawa River, a branch of Sagamigawa River, which runs almost through the center of Kanagawa Prefecture, with the aim of protecting the livelihoods and safety of citizens.Lake Miyagase - the artificial lake that was formed as a result of construction of Miyagase Dam - today serves as an essential water resource for Kanagawa Prefecture. Due to its location in a rich natural environment close enough for a day trip from Tokyo and Yokohama, it is visited by lots of people throughout the year as a metropolitan area tourist spot endowed with the features of a natural park.
Samukawa-jinja Shrine has a long history of more than 1600 years. This shrine was on the list of in “Engisiki-Jinnmyocho” which is a shrine’s list in the 5th year of Enchou era (AD 927), and has been worshipped as “Ichinomiya in Sagami Province” by many people all over Japan. Samukawa-jinja Shrine is especially known for tutelary deity of “Happo-yoke”; the deity removes evil and misfortune, invites happiness and prosperity, and bestows benefits upon people. “Reidaisai”, an annual grand festival, is held on September 20th. #samukawa #fbreels #japaneseculture #japanlife #japanesetemple
