Did you know that starting tomorrow until Sunday, November 5, the annual GYOZA 🥟 festival will be held at the Utsunomiya Castle Ruins?!

And I recently discovered this newly opened cafe right beside the castle! It’s a perfect chill out/hangout spot to enjoy a drink or meal after walking around the castle. And it’s Yakult! They have food and drinks with Yakult. If you like Yakult you’ll love this place. I already do! 🩷

🚆Traveling to Kyoto Chronicles✨
I always check my way around using google maps, I’m very dependent on it. But it doesn’t really help much when you’re trying to find that exit in the train stations. I often get lost and whenever that happens I ask the train station staff for directions and they are very nice(most of the time).. So, that happened today, I got lost in the station again on my way to finding the Kintetsu Limited Express Train to Nara Park. I asked my way around and arrived at the platform only to find that all the seats need reservation. I was running out of time, the train was gonna leave in a minute. There are a couple of reservation ticket machines near the platform and I found a group of tourists being assisted by the only staff available, so I had to figure out how to get a reservation ticket by myself. Under time pressure, I was able to purchase the reservation ticket. I used my mobile Passmo IC card for quick tap and go payment. If I have went through my wallet, get and count change for payment, I wouldn’t have made it. IC cards are extremely convenient for traveling around J*pan.

I’m traveling to Kyoto and Nara for the first time. I thought of using my mobile Suica IC card on transportation like buses, subways, and trains. Unfortunately, it only works in metro and JR lines in Kyoto. Luckily I also have a mobile Passmo IC card. I can basically use Passmo card everywhere in Kyoto.

No practice, no progress, no fish.. LOL 😆 I hate to admit it but I’m no good at fishing because I don’t have time to practice. I still enjoy it tho. Check out Lake Yuno at Yumoto Onsen in Nikko 🇯🇵 for a scenic fishing experience. Fish were right in-front of me but I couldn’t catch one 🙈😅

Have you seen the Kanuma Autumn Festival in Tochigi prefecture?! It was held during the weekend and I recommend you visit and experience it next year. It’s one of the most beautiful festivals I’ve ever seen. The craft and art that shows on those portable shrines are just spectacular. And it’s like an Easter egg hunting because only the locals know where the highlights of the event takes place. We were lucky to accidentally find those spots just by following the parade of “yatai’s”. I highly recommend watching the “buttsuke” where the yatai’s or portable shrines battle each other with drum music and roars. I can’t explain it but that part of the festival gives off really a strong positive aura. I loved it. 🤩 make sure to add this to your bucket list next year. I’m so excited to see tonight’s main event at the Kanuma Autumn Festival. There will be full scale drum battles and fireworks display! Kanuma Autumn Festival is a National Important Intangible Folk Cultural Assets of Japan and it is definitely a must see/experience when you’re visiting Tochigi around this time. It is my first time to experience this event and it’s like a beauty pageant of “micoshi’s” or portable shrines. Each one is hand carved with extremely intricate designs and they look so extravagant. If you’ve been to Nikko Toshogu Shrine, you’ll see some of the portable shrines in this festival with high resemblance because they are done by the same craftsmen.
