Loaded Films is very pleased to announce details of our latest production – RENOIR – written & directed by Chie Hayakawa, whose PLAN 75 won the Cannes Camera d'Or Special Mention in 2022 and was Japan's Oscar entry in 2023.

RENOIR's remarkable tale of one summer in an 11-year-old girl's life in the late 1980s stars newcomer Yui Suzuki, Hikari Ishida, Lily Franky, Ayumu Nakajima, Yuumi Kawai, and Ryota Bando. Released 6/20 nationwide!

Expect films from Chloe Zhao, Carla Simon, Julia Ducournau, Anne-Marie Jacir, Kathryn Bigelow, Lynne Ramsay and (possiby) Lucrecia Martel.

The film is currently a Japan-France-Singapore coproduction.

Our Story

Loaded Films is an independent film company based in Tokyo. We're focused on international co-productions, film festival strategy & publicity, and movie translation.

Our first international co-production, MAGIC KIMONO 「ふたりの旅路」was released theatrically across Japan in June 2017 and Latvia in December 2017. Our second production, TEN YEARS JAPAN 「十年 Ten Years Japan」(executive producer: Hirokazu Kore-eda) was released in November 2018 and is still in cinemas. Our latest production is Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH (working title) 「旅のおわり世界のはじまり」will have its world premiere at a major film festival in 2019.
