Muzan is delighted to welcome the inimitable Grand River to Osaka today at Daphnia. With releases on labels such as Spazio Disponibile, Editions Mego, and Ghostly International, we've been fascinated by Aimée's music for a long time, so when she contacted us we jumped at the chance to bring her to Kansai.
For next week's show, she will be performing her piece Tuning the Wind, a deeply immersive sound experience where wind is the primary instrument, magically blurring the lines between natural and synthesized sounds. Listening to this on Daphnia's sound system is going to be unforgettable. We sincerely hope you can join us~~~

In addition to Muzan's Endurance, we've invited Yuri Urano and YAMA, two of the best sonic explorers in Japan, to perform next Sunday as well.
After having just released Yuragi, her second album with Muzan, Urano brings together carefully collected field recordings and masterfully sculpted electronics, continually pushing the boundaries of ambient music.
YAMA, a buyer for Newtone Records, is one of the most brilliant selectors we know. Her depth and breadth of knowledge and love of music - whether techno, house, or ambient - never fails to transport listeners beyond time and space. Please join us for a night of deep sound and experience.

Over the past decade, Ario has built Astral Industries into one of the most inspiring and original electronic labels in the world. Their catalog explores the liminal spaces between ambient, techno, and sound art through the work of artists like Rod Modell, Toki Fuko, LF58, and Multicast Dynamics.

David Edren has been an essential part of Belgium’s alternative music scene since the early 2000s. His albums and live performances are a deep dive into the world of a kosmische polyrhythmic minimalism inspired by fauna and flora, botanical gardens and tea. You can experience this on his latest release “Daarbuiten”, released on Muzan Editions last spring.

He’s a master of creating sounds that are layered into dense, epic wall of sounds - glitched electronics meets ambient.

Celestial Echoes and Yuragi were mastered by the mighty 🙏

Owl- Celestial Echoes
We welcome Belgium’s Owl to Muzan Editions. He’s released some of our favorite deep techno and ambient albums on labels like Silent Season and Huinali. For “Celestial Echoes” he spent some time in the mountains of Switzerland where he recorded the foundation of the album and used modular synthesis to refine each song in his studio. He describes it as an attempt to capture the tension between light and dark, clarity and confusion, and finding meaning in the in-between.

Günter Schlienz-Software
After a two year hiatus, Günter Schlienz is back with Muzan. “Software” can be described as his most minimalistic and abstract work to date. With DIY modular synth, second hand reel-to-reel tape machines and field recordings he created an album that is soft and cozy, but delivers an undeniable coldness underneath its warmth.

Yuri Urano-Yuragi
We’re happy to have Yuri Urano join us again. She’s been very busy with her multidisciplinary work, performing at MUTEK Montrea/Tokyol and events all over the world. Her daily practice with singing bowls and field recordings inspired her to focus on moments where resonance and vibration played a major role during her work process. It feels like each tone on “Yuragi” is moving and oscillating.

We’ve been huge fans for quite some while and we’re happy to announce our first collaboration with Belgian sound maestro David Edren. On Daarbuiten or “The outside” Edren showcases his idea of painting a vivid portrait of the great outdoors. His gamelan-like rhythms and catchy melodies create a sound that feels dynamic and playful at the same time.

Jesse Perlstein & Shinya Sugimoto - Fallen

Sontag Shogun’s Jesse Perslstein and Shinya Sugimoto join us again with a follow-up to 2019’s “I Confess”. A long-form piece broken into four parts, that tells a story of change, of love found and lost. Using soundscapes taken from travels, voicemails, conversations about loss and love, and adding lamenting vocals, noise and piano, this album encapsulates the distance between people, both geographic and emotionally, and the delicate passage of time.

DUP SYS - Pure Materials

We’re extremely delighted that to have the chance to release a new album by DUP SYS, one of Osaka’s finest ambient acts. The nine tracks on “Pure Materials” sound like an updated version of John Hassel’s idea of 4th world music. Put your headphones on and feel fully immersed in DUP SYS’ rich sounding combination of field recordings and evocative soundscapes.

5月8日の水曜日、大阪のAreaにて、絶対の安定感と信頼のおけるパフォーマンスを提供してくれるMOMOとDJ Moritaにも出演を依頼しSybilを迎えます。深く没入できる音の夜を一緒に楽しみましょう！

Muzan is delighted to announce that next Wednesday we’ll be holding a party with Sybil, one of our favorite sonic explorers in recent years. Equally adept at playing both techno and ambient, Sybil’s DJing style is both patient and propulsive, carefully developing zones of sound that envelop and energize the listener. Her mixes on such platforms as Monument, Crack Magazine, and Patterns of Perception are wildly enjoyable lessons on how to balance both slow tension building and irresistible momentum.

Muzan Editions and Liquid Drop Groove team up to present ERIKA, DJ and producer from Detroit.

She’s been making waves with her mixture of hard hitting techno and sleek electro since 1997 when she joined Ectomorph, Detroit’s answer to Basic Channel, Rob Hood, and Drexciya. Erika is currently splitting her time between Berlin and Detroit. As part of the triumvirate that runs Interdimensional Transmissions (BMG, Erika and Amber), she organizes legendary events such as No Way Back, Samhain and Return to the Source. -conspirator of Detroit’s Interdimensional Transmissions record label.

Two main players in the Kansai/Japan scene will join us this time-

Liquid Drop Groove’s own YUTA will take us onto another of his a deep and extravagant journeys through sound. He’s the mastermind behind Agaitida, one of Japan’s most influential festivals and numerous high-profile events all over Japan. Kobe’s EBO , a dynamic DJ/event producer originally from America, who has established a vibrant presence in the Japanese underground music scene. We can’t wait to dance to his groovy and minimalistic sound. As so often, this special event takes place at our most trusted Club UpsideDown in the heart of Osaka.

Muzan Editions is honored to welcome SBat once more to our growing collection of mixes and sets by friends near and far. For this installment, we present SBat's ambient set at the wonderful Liminal Dreams party in Tokyo, this time held at (2023.12.10).
SBat conjures up a shimmering dreamscape of sounds that warps seamlessly between genre and mood, guiding the listener through nostalgic rememberances, glistening electronic futures, and hazy mirages that elude categorization. We recommend getting very comfortable and organizing some proper listening conditions before drifting off (and drifting deep) into this one.

We'd like to thank the Liminal Dreams crew for signing off on our use of Sbat's set. LD has a special place in the hearts of us here at Muzan. Not only are they an integral part of the flourishing ambient scene in Tokyo, but were kind enough to invite Endurance to their very first event - and Dérive to their latest party last month! Their lineups are always incredible, with past special guests including artists like Sunju Hargun, Chris SSG, Sapphire Slows, and Jane Fitz - just to name a few. All of which makes us even more excited to be showcasing a set from one of their events. Enjoy!

We’re super excited to welcome Resom to her fist gig in Osaka.

We can‘t wait to introduce her eclectic an diverse sound to all the wonderful dancers in Osaka.

As a resident of ://about blank she’s been an integral part of Berlin’s electronic scene and with more than 20 years of involvement in various projects and touring the world Resom’s been able to bring back all those danceable experiences to her residencies in various clubs and festivals.

In addition to that we were able to invite Astral Industries’ Ario to another round in Osaka. Dancers and music fanatics all over the world know his special talent. Wether it’s an immersive ambient night or the the deepest techno there is, he can and will play it. He knows when it’s time to play hard hitting techno but never forgets to add a pinch of deepness to his sets.

Opening the night will be our good friend Reefs. He‘s been part of Osaka‘s electronic scene for more than a decade
and describes his sound as a diverse range of House and Techno music, with no fixed pattern.

Sound design by the almighty Yori guarantees a wonderful night with special people dear to our hearts.

Am Shhara - Shinsoko 一瞬で目の前の景色を180度変えるような出来事が、人生ではときどき起こる。それは絶望の淵に見た一本の美しい虹のように、または穏やかな朝に取った一本の電話のように、正弦波的ではなくのこぎり波的に、突然の急上昇や急降下を伴いながら、ストーリーを形作っていく。本作、名古屋を拠点とする作曲家Am Shharaによる「Shinsoko」には、そんなハッと胸をつく瞬間が溢れている。溢れているというか、その連続によってこの作品の世界観が作り上げられていると言った方が適切かもしれない。実家の布団に入ったときのようなぬくもりと、夜のジャングルを歩くときのような緊張が、一方が寄せては一方が引き、それをドラスティックに、不規則に繰り返す。一つの感情をはっきりと意識した瞬間に、その感情は別のなにかに変化していく、そういう音楽体験が得られる。砂袋のようにずっしりとしたドローンのトビに、針が落ちるかのごとく繊細な振動がエコーを伴い重なることで、まるで懐中電灯で照らされた洞穴のように、空間的な奥行きが姿を現す。そして自分とこの作品の位置関係も徐々に明らかになるような気がする。そんなことを感じながら聴いているうちに、気が付けばかなり長い時間が経っていたようだ。 (言葉：Dotei Records @doteirecords ) Nagoya’s Am Shhara joins Muzan for the release of her debut album, Shinsoko, meaning “bottom of the heart” in Japanese.
