PAF C-130H HERCULES 5125 CRASHED IN SULU
A sad tragic Sunday again to the Philippine aviation community.
A Philippine air force C-130H medium lift cargo/transport aircraft with tail number 5125 from the 222nd Airlift Squadron of the 220th Airlift Wing crashes upon landing in Jolo at around 1100 (11am) today (04 July 2021).
The C-130H “Hercules” aircraft #5125 took off from Villamor Air Base in Manila (RPLL) to Lumbia Airfield (RPML) in Cagayan de Oro and subsequently ferried military personnel to Jolo Airport (RPMJ) where it crashed in a village in the mountainous town of Patikul in Sulu province with 96 soldiers on board, including three air force pilots and five crew members while the others were from the 4th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army.

At least 40 out of the 96 soldiers on board 5125 were brought to a hospital in the 11th Infantry Division in Busbus, Sulu. The AFP troops on the crash site were still trying to rescue and retrieve the rest while 17 have already died in the accident.
Rescue efforts and further investigations were still ongoing to determine the cause of the incident.
This former USAF C-130H aircraft with Serial number: 382-5125 was delivered by USAF pilots from the 179th Airlift Wing of the Ohio Air National Guards to the Philippines on 29 January 2021. It served the Philippine Air Force for almost five months only.
