Guilty of hurt

…cutting himself with stones. Mark 5:5

The madman of Gadara, under the influence of Satan, cut himself with stones. Self-destruction is a manifestation of the presence of Satan. There are many satanic and demonic diseases that are self-destructive. Diseases like asthma are overreactions of the body to foreign bodies, which result in self-destruction. The body kills itself slowly as it tries to protect itself from these foreign bodies. Unforgiveness is one such demonic foothold. Many do not understand that bitterness is self-destructive. By keeping the hurts and the pain, many people destroy themselves.

Marriage court

There is no fear in love; but PERFECT LOVE CASTETH OUT FEAR: because fear hath torment. He that FEARETH IS NOT MADE PERFECT IN LOVE. 1 John 4:18

Fear destroys love. It manifests itself in suspicion and uncertainty. Fear destroys love and that is why perfect love casts out fear. A fearful partner always destroys the "husband and wife" relationship. Fears and insecurities in one partner can lead to a total breakdown of marriage. Fear leads to suspicion, accusations and counter accusations. Fear often attacks the most beautiful and blessed people. They have everything but happiness.

Friend infection
..Evil company corrupts good habits. 1 Corinthians 15:33

A born-again Christian should make friends with Christians. There are too many Christians whose friends are people of the world, people who don’t believe in the things that they believe in. You must know that your friends affect you more than your church does. You go to church two or three times in a week but you see and communicate with your friends all through the week.

Tying up loose ends

Those who are planted in the house of the LORD Shall flourish in the courts of our God. Psalm 92:13

When you stay away from church you can easily backslide, especially those who say they don’t have to go to church to stay in touch. My pastor once visited the home of a backsliding brother to counsel him. The brother took a cigarette, lit it and began smoking right in front of him. The brother then showed a picture of a naked girl lying on him. When my pastor opened the Bible to show him his error, the guy stopped him and started quoting all the scriptures my pastor was going to say. There are sins you won't commit except when you separate yourself.

Taking thanks to world cup

They soon forgot his works and would not wait for his counsel. Psalm 106:13

The pastor is not the hero of the church; Christ is! We administer communion to the bride and groom at weddings. Why? In that moment of their great joy, remember that the marriage was made possible by Christ our Saviour. When you listen to the response to the toast by some bridegrooms, you realize they are more grateful to other people for their marriage than to God. He is grateful to the one who connected him to the bride; but friend, the greatest connector is Jesus. Let us be grateful to Him!

Cycle of smelling success

When goods increase, they are increased that eat them: and what good is there to the owners thereof...? Ecclesiastes 5:11

What are you searching for? Students think that if only they can pass their exams, they will be all right. They can then have good jobs with fat salaries. Those who are not married are thinking of how to get a fiancée and how to prepare for their wedding. Employees are trying to get more money, buy a car, build a house - the list is endless. At every stage in life, people are not satisfied with what they have. So they think that reaching another level in life is the only way to satisfaction but the goal post keeps shifting.

Delicate Treatment

Do not correct those who make fun of wisdom, or they will hate you. But correct the wise, and they will love you. Proverbs 9:8

The spirit of foolishness makes you hate advice. It makes you hate your counsellor. When you shut out advice and godly counsel from your life, you have shut the door to great opportunities and blessings! Do you have feelings of resentment towards your pastors? Do you get angry with your parents when they are advising you? Then perhaps you have the spirit of foolishness! Children can be easily corrected but adults on the other hand are not that easy. Especially when adults pay more attention to their feelings rather than to scriptural guidance.

Hiding behind anger

But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: Proverbs 1:25

A married woman became extremely familiar with another man. Her husband and relatives advised her against this. She was very angry at them. Fools get angry when they are advised. She insisted that she was not having any extramarital affairs but her husband suspected foul play. When she was confronted again concerning the paternity of one of her children, she got even more enraged. Someone was making the mistake of advising a fool. Years later, she admitted that she had a child with this man. Everyone was shocked! Remember, this woman became very angry when she was advised.

Gambling stems from covetousness

And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth. Luke 12:15

The only job that starts from the top is grave digging. It is not easy to prosper in this life. It is a long, long road to the prosperity we all hope for. Impatience and greed will only destroy your opportunities in life. The Bible says, “Beware of covetousness.” The prodigal son had everything at home. Indeed, in his time of need he testified that even his father’s servants had more than enough to eat at home. However, because he was not satisfied with all his blessings, he stretched out his hand in the spirit of greed to take what was not yet his. Don't be covetous.

Greedy twist

The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee, and unto thy seed for ever. And he went out from his presence a l***r as white as snow. 2 Kings 5:27

A greedy person is never satisfied with what he has. They will often stretch out their hands to take something that does not belong to them. Elisha the prophet refused to receive money from a healed captain of the Syrian army. But his greedy servant Gehazi went ahead, lied to the captain and took the money for himself. By this, Gehazi had disgraced Elisha’s ministry forever. Elisha cursed him and his seed forever, so Gehazi ended up with leprosy. Perhaps Gehazi would have become the most anointed man of God after Elisha but that opportunity was denied him because of the spirit of greed.

Affected by spirits
..Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit... Revelations 18:2

Beleyahal is a Hebrew word which means “useless, worthless, good-for-nothing, valueless or cheap”. This is an evil spirit in the world, which makes you good-for-nothing and cheap. Sometimes God elevates a man and blesses him with great opportunities to do business and earn lots of money. However, when he becomes successful in life, he decides not to serve the Lord. He rather spends his time and money on women, food and extravagance. The same spirit of uselessness causes some women to exchange their purity for a Chinese dinner. Do not allow the spirit of beleyahal to make you cheap and valueless!

Feeling to make a waste
.A certain man had two sons: And the younger of them...took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want. Luke 15:11-14

There are wasteful businessmen, wives, Christians and even wasteful pastors. Wasteful people do not seem to realize what they have. Someone may be in a good church, with a good pastor who feeds them with the Word of God. You learn to pray, sing, and do ministry. However such a person may turn against the very people who helped him and walk away from golden opportunities. What makes people behave in this way? Evil spirits often influence us to make bad decisions.

Delicate personalities

And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues, and greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi. Matthew 23:6-7

It is easy to become like a Pharisee after you have been a Christian for some time. Christ had problems with Pharisees when He ministered on earth. My pastor plans a lot of big crusades to win souls. Can you believe that his biggest headache when organizing a crusade is not the counselling of the new converts but the seating arrangement of the bigwig pastors? Even when he tries his best, some still are offended.

Ready for seconds

But SEEK YE FIRST the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33

One day my Pastor toured a cemetery in Africa. Graves were being built at a rapid rate. Funerals were so common that there weren't enough pastors to conduct the services. Even worst, space became a problem so they started burying persons standing up instead of lying down. In such a situation do you say, “Rest in peace,” or “Stand in peace?” Why were so many people dying? The second thing had come before the first thing. S*x had come before marriage. When marriage comes before s*x, these things ideally do not occur. S*x is supposed to be experienced only after marriage.

More gifts should be at the altar

Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; FIRST BE RECONCILED to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. Matthew 5:23-24

The priorities of Jesus are revealed in the Gospels. Whenever Jesus used the word “FIRST”, He was teaching us that there were some things that had priority over others. You will notice from the Scripture above how Jesus commanded us to do certain things before others. Reconciling with people was prioritized by Jesus. Is there someone around whom if you saw them it would be hard to extend greetings?

Spiritual fruits

Herein is my father glorified, THAT YE BEAR MUCH FRUIT; so shall ye be my disciples. John 15:8

When our desires are met, we think God is being glorified but we need to correct this. One day a brother came from the university campus with “good news”. He said, “God is being glorified on campus, the Spirit is moving.” With a broad smile he answered, “Many students have passed their exams!” This brother had equated the passing of exams to the move of the Spirit of God. But the indicator of the move of God is when people are saved and gifts of the Spirit manifest. Jesus said He would be glorified when you bear much fruit.

Nothing to report

All the efforts we make without God will end in confusion and scattering. Many attempts to be happily married have ended in confusion and scattering. Divorce is the separation of families. Many attempts to be rich have ended in confusion. Many attempts at higher education and higher achievement have not brought the happiness men expected. The result has often been confusion and despair. Who can do these things for us? Only the Lord can. Jesus said that we could do nothing without him.

Eat your words

But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. Matthew 12:36

Jesus took a very high and unusual view of the value of words in general. Jesus taught that words would be used as a basis for judgment. There is nothing that appears more trivial to the ordinary man than a word. But words are not trivial. When they are called into existence they become living things which travel through time and space, doing good and evil; and they will confront us again at the last day. The influence of our words on our destiny will be extraordinary; “…for by thy words thou shalt be justified and by thy words, thou shall be condemned” (Matthew 12:37).

Honour rolls

And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is HIGHLY ESTEEMED among men is ABOMINATION in the sight of God. Luke 16:15

We seem to need the approval and endorsement of people for many of life's decisions. There are people who marry doctors because the community will admire the marriage partnership. What do people say and what does God say? What people say seems to be so strong that it has virtually taken control of christians. The honour of men which is so powerful in its influence, leads us to choose things which are an abomination to the Lord. Could it be that you put aside the will of God because you did not have the admiration of men?

So you love comfort

For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 1 Corinthians 1:18

Jesus said we should take up our cross and follow him. This speaks of sacrifice. We sacrifice for other things. It is so sad that pastors today are earthly-minded. Don’t you see that a new gospel that teaches us to grasp at earthly things has replaced the words of Jesus. As soon as Jesus preached about sacrifice, his church reduced in size. But that is how to do the works of Jesus. Don't pretend to be a Christian. Make up your mind to sacrifice.

5 Game Lives

Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. John 4:35

On many video games, when a player is destroyed you don't have to worry because five more lives are left. The computer games of our world have deceived us into thinking that we have multiple lives. We have nothing but one life and one death. The clock is ticking and opportunities are passing by. There will even be a time when you will hear the Word of God but will not be able to repent. Jesus said, “Do not say that there are yet four months.” In other words do not give yourself extra time. This is the time of the harvest. It is time to respond now.

In Suspense

Jesus therefore said to them, “My time has not yet come, but your time is always ready." John 7:6

This earthly life is very time-related. Every instruction that God has given to you has an invisible timer. The available time to perform that duty reduces with every passing hour. Many think they are just passing time and will take God seriously later. Do not be deceived! The expiry date of your grace period is fast approaching. One of the largest funerals held was that of Princess Diana. She died on a Sunday. Though she was famous and well liked, she did not know what time it was on the Saturday. When we know the time, we don't plan to sin, we begin to seek for God.

Marriage on your mind

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. Proverbs 4:7

Three sisters separately approached a brother who was graduating from a Bible school and told him that God had spoken to them about getting married to him. How could the Spirit of God have told three different girls to marry one brother on the same day? We have to use our minds as well as our spiritual faculties. One without the other makes us defective. If you want to get married, you have to use your mind. You cannot just say that the Spirit is leading you to marry. Of course, you must follow the leading of the Spirit, but you are expected to use your mind.

Brain milage

Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming. 1 Peter 1:13

It is the size of the brain and the use of the mind that distinguishes human beings from animals. Those who have a mind can think, reason and rule. Those who use their minds rule over those who don't. A person who does not use his mind is no different from a person who does not have one! When God created us, He blessed us with the ability to think and to reason. When you become born-again, it does not mean that you should not use your mind anymore. A common mistake of spiritual Christians is that they stop using their minds.

Houses are available

THROUGH WISDOM IS AN HOUSE BUILDED; and by understanding it is established: Proverbs 24:3

It took Solomon thirteen years to build his own house. Many people are in a hurry to arrive at a place of success. Solomon was a determined man. He eventually completed his own house after thirteen long years. Money is not the essential element to building a house. The key to building a house is wisdom. Don't let the devil deceive you into thinking that you cannot build a house. Wisdom is something you can ask for from God.

The cost of building materials

But Solomon WAS BUILDING HIS OWN HOUSE THIRTEEN YEARS, and he finished all his house. 1 Kings 7:1

One of the secrets of success in this life is to decide to build your own house. Many people think that it is only fantastically rich people who build houses. That is not true! Solomon built a house for himself and it greatly contributed to his success. Solomon was a very wise man. One of the things wisdom made him do was to build his own house. A builder is a wise man. There are people who accumulate wealth and those that spend their wealth. Which one of these will you be?

Super ball winnings

In Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee. Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people? 1 Kings 3:5,9

Solomon prayed and asked the Lord to give him an understanding heart to discern between good and bad. The Bible teaches us that his prayer pleased God and God decided to give him wisdom and fantastic riches. How many of us really seek for righteousness and wisdom from God? This may be one of the most direct route to prosperity and riches. Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness! Decide to live a holy life. Pay the price and live for God.

Worthy to get a house

And when they came to Jesus, they besought him instantly, saying, That HE WAS WORTHY for whom he should do this: For he loveth our nation, and HE HATH BUILT US A SYNAGOGUE. Luke 7:4, 5

One of the secrets to prolonging your days on this earth is be involved in the building of the house of God. The people who involve themselves in building the church, whether spiritually or physically have a special grace upon their lives. Do you remember the Centurion who needed a miracle for his servant? The people told Jesus the man deserved a miracle because he had built them a synagogue. Build God's house, and God will build a house for you.

I go the way of all the earth: be thou strong therefore, and shew thyself a man; 1 Kings 2:2

The first instruction that was given to Solomon was to be strong and to behave like a man. The first act of strength that Solomon performed was to eliminate all possible traitors and wicked elements in his midst. Some of you are too weak to get rid of that bad man in your life. You must get rid of that bad girl. She shouldn't be there. As long as certain people are a part of your life, you will not prosper. Temptations come through people. They do not fly in a vacuum. If you do not get rid of certain people in your life, you will have countless problems.

Stop blaming others

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13

It is easy to blame someone else for your situation. Human beings commonly point their fingers at the nearest scapegoat in sight. Adam said it was the woman who caused him to sin. Eve said the serpent was to blame for the problem. Many Black people say that it is White people who are to blame for their condition. Third world countries blame Europe for colonizing them. They claim that colonization is the cause of all of Africa's problems. I think the best approach is to blame ourselves for our situation.

Wealth for diligent workers

He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich. Proverbs 10:4

When a man works hard, he must be rewarded for his labour. If he works so hard and was so wise that he had a thousand cars, why are you so angry with him? Don't be a crab! Only crabs try to pull others down. One couple only had two chairs in their sitting room. Whenever there was a visitor, they would play "musical chairs". Each time one came around, the other would get up and pretend to be doing something else. Many people who have some things today have struggled for years to acquire them.

Having enough to eat

And Solomon's provision for one day was thirty measures of fine flour, and threescore measures of meal, TEN FAT OXEN and TWENTY OXEN out of the pastures and an HUNDRED SHEEP, beside harts, and roebucks, and fallowdeer, and fatted fowl. 1 Kings 4:22

One way to measure success is whether your family has food. Solomon killed thirty oxen and a hundred sheep everyday. Remember that there were no refrigerators in those days so they had to eat everything! Solomon must have had many mouths to feed. Some people, not by choice, eat their food without meat. When Solomonic success enters your life, you will have enough meat for your stew. May you have Solomonic success.

Success hunting

For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. Psalm 84:11

People do outrageous tasks in search of a better life. Perhaps you are one of them - doing things you normally would not do. The Bible says that the Lord is a sun and a shield. This means that the same God who gives you sunshine, gives you shade. All that God is trying to tell us is that He is everything to us. Getting to know the Lord will bring us into a totally successful life. Over the next few days I will be sharing biblical advice for a successful life.

Keeping anointed company

He that walketh with wise men shall be wise … Proverbs 13:20

If your best friends are motivational speakers I will not be surprised if you become a motivational speaker soon. If your best friends are anointed men of the Holy Spirit, soon you may have a ministry like that. We are affected more by our friends than we know. Many people are affected more by their friends than by their pastors. Most people are like their friends! This is why friendships are so important and this is why the anointing and the Holy Spirit will come to your life through friendships.

Remember to say...

giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; Ephesians 5:20

The Scripture says you should give thanks always and for all things. It is very easy to give thanks for some things and complain about others. That is why many Christians lose the opportunity to be filled with the Spirit. They are thankful about the good things but are unable to be thankful about many other things. Develop the habit of being thankful for everything. Develop the habit of blessing God and praising Him every day - not just before you eat.

Spiritual songs

And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but BE FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT; SPEAKING TO YOURSELVES in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Ephesians 5:18-19

Christians can be continually filled and influenced by the Holy Spirit by speaking to yourself through a song, a hymn or a psalm. Key words: “speak to yourself”. Many Christian songs do not speak to us because we cannot hear the words. Even when we can hear the words, the words do not edify or minister grace to us. We need something that will speak to us. It is only someone who is close to the Lord who can speak or minister through his songs.

Stir it up

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Matthew 5:6

You can stir up interest in anything by talking about it. Have you noticed that you become hungry when you talk about food or that your interest in s*x increases as you talk about it? When pastors preach about money, prosperity and finances, their congregation develops an interest and hunger for money. The reason why modern churches are filled with many greedy, covetous and money-loving Christians is because they are constantly taught how and why you must be rich! Similarly, talking about the Holy Spirit stirs up a hunger and interest in the things of the Spirit.

Minister Maker

Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which THE HOLY GHOST HATH MADE YOU OVERSEERS, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. Acts 20:28

It is easy to see from the Scripture above that the Holy Spirit makes people overseers. The Holy Spirit wants to make you into a pastor. When you come under the influence of the Holy Spirit, you will sense a calling to do something for God. A minister of the gospel is someone who is called, anointed and clothed by God Himself. Man-made ministers, who fill the pulpits of many churches, are often leading people to Hell. Do not follow an overseer who was not “made” by the Holy Spirit!

Wow creations

And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And THE SPIRIT OF GOD MOVED upon the face of the waters. And God said, LET THERE BE LIGHT: and there was light. Genesis 1:2-3

Creative people are influenced by the Holy Spirit to create and to invent. When the Holy Spirit moved, God the Father created the world. If the moving of the Holy Spirit brought about the creation of this world, then the moving of the Holy Spirit in your life will bring about creativity in your life. The greatest leaders of this world created and built new things. People rallied around their ideas and followed their creative ideas. When a person is under the influence of the Holy Spirit, he becomes creative.

Wealth advisory

And Pharaoh said unto his servants, can we find such a one as this is, A MAN IN WHOM THE SPIRIT OF GOD is? Genesis 41:38

Through the influence of the Holy Spirit, you can receive the ability to create and sustain great riches. Pharaoh recognized that Joseph would have the ability to sustain the wealth of Egypt. Sometimes, people receive great wealth but lose everything because they receive the wealth from demons. The demons give them the wealth and then make them throw everything away again. You must remember how Satan told Jesus that all the wealth of the world was his to give. It is a clearly established fact that Satan also gives wealth to people. Pray for the Holy Spirit to come upon your life.
