Settimana Internazionale della Critica | SIC Every year, the Settimana presents a selection of first time director's full-length films. The 37.

SIC Settimana Internazionale della Critica (Venice International Film Critics' Week) is an independent section of the Venice International Film Festival. It is promoted and organised by the Union of Italian Film Critics (SNCCI), in association with la Biennale di Venezia. Settimana will be held from 31 August to 10 September 2022.

📍 Scoprite il calendario completo delle proiezioni nella provincia di Bolzano e in Friuli Venezia Giulia (in collaborazione con l' Agis Tre Venezie), e a Roma (all'interno di I Grandi Festival del Cinema).
A breve verrano comunicate le date delle proiezioni in provincia di Trento, e prossimamente anche quelle di Napoli grazie a Venezia a Napoli. Il cinema esteso (22-27 ottobre).

It’s been a few days now, and this is the time when you look back and realise how good it was, and how completely CRAZY it was.

In the 9 days of , we had Chinese takeaway food more often than in our entire lives. We found peacock feathers in every corner of the house, we had a drink with about 30 or 40 Tamil actors in our garden, we spotted the most famous Italian comic book author watching “our” films in Sala Perla (and he liked them sooo much).

We did karaoke, and we received autographed tiles as a souvenir. We went for a walk in the rain and we came back soaking wet, and we had to leave our shoes to dry for hours.
We cried with emotion, and we saw adult men crying with emotion as well.

We worked late into the night and woke up at dawn, we killed about 88.346 mosquitoes (sorry not sorry), we screened a film about a hurricane approaching, and the day after a hurricane arrived IRL.

We heard the high water sirens one day, and we risked sunstroke only a few hours later.
We sang and danced to the Spice Girls, and we aren’t ashamed of it.

We watched amazing films, and we loved every single one of them.

It’s been crazy, and it’s been special. And we have the feeling that if it was so special it was because, as the Boston Celtics would say, it’s ‘different here’. It’s different, at SIC.

So, thanks to all of you for being different. And quirky, and weird, and enthusiastic, and lovely, and shameless.

CONGRATULATIONS BRADY CORBET! He’s just won the Silver Lion for Best Director at La Biennale di Venezia, and we’re so so so happy!

First, because the award goes to a brave young man, who has made an instant cult (and a masterpiece) like The Brutalist. A film that turns the rules of the game upside down, just as we like it 🤍🏢

Second, because we had the chance to meet Brady at the FIPRESCI Award hosted by Casa SIC, and yes, he rocks 🤟
