This is what Ms Sylvie Goulard (Vice-Governor of the Bank of France affiliated with En Marche) wrote in today's Corriere della Sera: "The truth is that Europe is unfinished because of everyone, from North to South. We did not want to give responsibility to the European Union in Health matters, not even for emergency situations; we did not give it powers to manage crises, we were not anticipatory enough.
We are wrong if we think we can continue like this, pro-European in words but not in deeds, unarmed in the face of globalisation, with an unsustainable world economy, slow in combating climate change and reducing inequalities. And then, how many contradictions in this limping Europe: is it possible to be effective by taking decisions unanimously? How can we talk about a Political Union without solidarity or solidarity without any convergence of tax, pension and labour systems?"
