Assembling the creative energies and the special vibe of the local scene, MK Records stands for the rich and steadily growing Psy Trance culture of Italy. The label’s roots originate from exactly the same place where its releases aim to: The middle of the dance floor. Emerging from the legendary Starcity club in Bologna, MK Records always was an integral part of new trends and directio
ns, of musical and artistic development. Mastermind behind the label is DJ Markayn, founder of the Starcity club, recent operator of Zoom club and organizer of Goaland festival. It’s probably his intense and passionate scene involvement that made MK Records a great success from the very first release: All the 4000 copies of the Goaland compilation, soundtrack for the same-named festival in 2008, were sold within no time. Beside other compilations, MK released a number of digital EPs, all of which gained very positive feedback from the international Trance scene. Being directly connected to the parties, the label represents the sound evolution of the Italian scene, which again keeps its catalogue very vivid. After some psychedelic and twisted tunes, there has been uplifting morning Trance and driving Progressive stuff. Recently, MK Records breaks new grounds into the directions of Dark Psy and psychedelic Dubstep. What remains as a golden thread is the philosophy of label head Markayn: “Trance is a world deep down in the mind of the individual but Psy Trance music can connect these worlds and can make us have a wonderful experience of unity!”
