Errantes is an academic journal focusing on topics in social and cultural anthropology. It features

𝐸𝑛𝑔𝑙𝑖𝑠ℎ:

𝗘𝗿𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘀, from Latin “the ones who wander,” focuses on topics in social and cultural anthropology. It features papers investigating intersections, hybridizations and border-crossings (or their impediment) of people, objects, practices, memories, ideas. The journal favors ethnographic and theoretical contributions that focus on inequality and power, encounters and conflicts, marginality a

nd subalternity, mobility and migration, resistance and creativity. Furthermore, the journal aims at pushing anthropological debates outside their comfort zones, in order to experiment with alternative ethnographic forms and problematize the epistemological tools specific to the discipline. Errantes also wishes to enhance interdisciplinary collaborations and to promote the public dimension of anthropological knowledge.

𝐼𝑡𝑎𝑙𝑖𝑎𝑛:

𝗘𝗿𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘀, dal latino “coloro che errano”, si occupa di antropologia sociale e culturale e ambisce ad approfondire il tema dell’intersezione, dell’ibridazione e dello sconfinamento (o del loro impedimento) di persone, oggetti, pratiche, memorie, idee. La rivista privilegia contributi etnografici e teorici che si focalizzano su: diseguaglianza e potere, incontri e conflitti, marginalità e subalternità, mobilità e migrazioni, resistenza e creatività. Al contempo, la rivista punta a spostare il dibattito antropologico al di fuori della sua comfort zone, al fine di sperimentare forme etnografiche alternative, problematizzando gli strumenti epistemologici propri alla disciplina. Si prefigge, inoltre, di valorizzare la collaborazione interdisciplinare e al contempo di conferire una dimensione pubblica ai saperi antropologici.

[𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻] 𝐷𝑜𝑠𝑠𝑖𝑒𝑟 𝑆𝑒𝑐𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 (2021): 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑪𝒓𝒊𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒛𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝑴𝒊𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒚 𝑴𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒎𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒂𝒓𝒚 𝑮𝒍𝒐𝒃𝒂𝒍 𝑪𝒓𝒊𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑵𝒆𝒕𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒌𝒔

For its 2021 launch issue, Errantes proposes to explore the themes of crime and criminalization in relation to people on the move and contemporary global criminal networks. We are looking for ethnographical and theoretical contributions that focus on practices and discourses (legal, social, enacted by state agents, NGOs, or associations) around migration and how they shape and are shaped by, imaginaries about a criminal migrant “Other” and by attempts to resist such criminalization process. Discussing crime in relation to migration will also allow us to look at transnational criminal groups, economies, and activities when they are defined as illegal and disguised as lawful (when legal activities would be impossible without illegal ones). The articles will follow the American Anthropological Association Style Guide (Chicago Manual of Style, 16th edition), with a length range from 5,000–9,000 words (including abstract, notes, and references), should be submitted no later than 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝐬𝐭, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟏 (due to a deadline extension).
