An extraordinary thanks to Mr. Yaw, the Furman Foundation School Principal who welcomed us and made us feel part of the community.

Mr. Yaw is a person full of energy who has established a deep and indissoluble bond with his students whom he welcomes and cares for every single day.

Derek is a student of the Furman Foundation School, he has a dream and a powerful vision about his future.

He asks nothing of himself but opportunities to take and the strength to trust his dream.

We seemed to have forgotten what it meant to look at each other, touch and care for others, share a moment and smile back.

Yet, once again, our need for humanity has led us to draw closer again, to throw off the mask and fill the gap that was our only salvation for the past two years.

As brothers and sisters, we ran to meet each other, we waited a long time for that embrace. But here we are again, together, dreaming and building a new reality.

A new world, a new spring.

A special thanks to Maristella Perlini and Educatore Sociale.

We were guests of a multicultural event with the Indian community in collaboration with the cultural association “Stanza delle Genti” coordinated by Maristella Perlini.

We had the chance to talk about India, inclusion and humanity. And it is precisely on humanity that we base our mission, on that humanity that is part of our heritage, that with its differences unites us more than anything else.

It's a light in the dark. And we are that light, distant people but never so close.

Those who don't talk much have their minds full of thoughts.
Joyce is reserved most of the time. She speaks carefully but with an expression that makes it easy to understand how trained she is in formulating her thoughts.

In an environment like that of Accra, the attitude of highly educated people is easily recognizable, it collides with the impulsive behavior of the society.

Joyce keeps her power hidden behind her gentle and conservative way of life. In her gaze, willpower leads her to achieve a new step toward her dream.

It's 6 in the morning.
Except for the walks of a few wild dogs, none are on the dirt road in the middle of the outskirts of Kumasi.

Fatima starts many people's day.
A man in a suit with his briefcase, a schoolgirl and his pink uniform, an elderly man and his back hunched forward.

People arrive with blank faces.
Most of them leave smiling.

A step into the bus, you take your seat.

Across the aisle, a woman sits with her glasses flashing in front of the darkness, reflecting a purple neon-lit cabin.

She turns and your eyes meet each other before you both start smiling for no apparent reason.

You've never met her before but at that moment, she seems to know you more than anyone else.

Unexpected encounters are what we live for, those moments that catch you off guard, unprepared, and that makes you move forward.

Jonathan is 19 and lives on the outskirts of Accra, the Ghanaian capital.

His father dies when he is still a child and her mother emigrates to Switzerland to guarantee her and her children better life conditions and hopes.

Johnathan's dream is to become a soldier, help the weak and defend his home and the lives of his loved ones.

To be a soldier he must pass some selections after completing his cycle of studies but Jonathan has not finished school, the only way he has to enter the army is through specialization as a mechanic, which would allow him to enlist as a soldier technician.

What would life be like without dancing? This question is often repeated when the young Ghanaian students of the Furman Foundation School start dancing between classes.

Dancing is so deeply rooted in them that many would like it to become a real job, a real dream to pursue.

There is no light inside the classrooms of the Kumasi school.

Derek is 10 years old, his dream is to become an engineer.

He's one of the many children who crowd the classrooms. He has a pen with which he studies the books worn out by time and by the countless hands that owned them before him.

He loves going to school despite the rotten wooden desks. Derek is very curious and never stops looking for that beauty that here, more than in other places, is as rare as it is precious.

We believe it is very important to leave a mark, we are here not only to tell a story but to be part of it, to live it and leave something behind like a smile or improvise a football match in a school. It's not about work, it's about life.

This and much more is Polo's Tale.

Helena's dream was to become an anchorwoman.

Helena teaches in a school. She had to.
Without the financial possibility, she reinvented herself with a new career, a new opportunity for her life.

After a few years, she understood how giving hope to her students also means bringing the new generation of Ghanaians to be masters of their own destiny.

Kumasi school, Ghana.

Humanity is sharing, it's about connection.

And it is precisely on the connection that we base our mission, strenuous research for what unites us, in diversity.
Stories from the world, of the world, of that same land that does not belong to us, that we occupy and in which we walk believing that we are alone and instead we are there.
We advance in the darkness, brothers and sisters guided only by the light of our souls, with stories to tell.

This is Polo's Tale.
