Ultra-watery, ultra-space-age, ultra-vocoded and ultra-limited-edition new Italo disco wax from the folks over at Archeo Recordings. Engineered and executed in the style of an oldskool space disco cut - one which bears the same cover-artistic hallmarks - it’s also a crossover electro/Italo release. The successful creative disco-graphic synergy continues between Simona Faraone’s label, , and the artistic collective Kuro Jam coordinated by Gianluca Pernafelli. After creating the two V/A sound-tracks, Kimera Mendax EP (NIMKurojam 001) and Kimera Mendax Vol.2 (NimKurojam002), for this third release of Kuro Jam Recordings line, the team assigned to the Rome producer T/ERROR - already featured on the second volume of Kimera Mendax series with two tracks (KX2048 on vinyl and Rising Tide in the digital re-pack) - the music version of the new, eponymous comic strip. The DATA SURFER of the title is a special mixer: among its controllers, in addition to those for sounds, there is one that reads, mixes and recomposes space-time. 🎴

‘Blue Train’ is created by Piero and is the second release from the newly formed label, My Cup Of Tea. Piero, who is also the label owner, gives us four tracks of deep house that blend jazzier notes along with seductive grooves. The title track is an upbeat, pumping late-night gem that blends some vocals along with a smooth saxophone sample, ‘Nikes On My Feet’ adds a cool broken-beat rhythm to the mixture while still being pretty darn techy and funky and we love the use of the acid line that balances out the jazz sounds. For the B-side you have original version of ‘International Language’ along with a remix of it by Carlo (Carlos Alvarez). You can’t go wrong with either version as a DJ. My Cup Of Tea is off to a strong start for sure. 🎴

You can’t beat a good edits label and that’s what we seem to have here off the evidence of the first release from NIN Edits out of Italy. Ninja Edits 1 opens with the fused charms of what sounds like sleek, proto-techno synths from Kraftwerk and disco percussion on ‘Dance & Music’. ‘Get Up & Down’ is a deeper cut with some smoky and soulful pads and nice loose percussion that throws it back to the New York disco scene, and the most buttery and seductive of the lot comes last. ‘Moon & Night’ has a woozy groove and lush strings scoring high next to plenty of rich instrumental funk. 🎴

As the artist alias kind of suggests, Abyssy takes a deep dive into the unknown depths of the human spirit. It finds the artist returning to Simona Faraone’s label after several years and finds him exploring electronic sounds of the 70s and 80s, blending Berlin school minimalism with Detroit techno’s soul and funk. It is a record that ranges in mood and tempo as it heads into oceanic depths where wispy pads and chattery percussive patterns collide in unusual ways. It’s a largely abstract album of unusual sound designs and genuine electronic discovery that often has you wondering just how certain abounds have been made. 🎴

Relative newcomers Infradisco blend a Balearic sound of disco and house for the Italian label Archeo Recordings. Aqua Cheta is a blend of proper electronic examples of Balearic and chill out influences. ‘Caduca’ (Hear & Now remix) is ideal for the late-night scene with a blend a perfect blend of 80s and 90s but still sounding futuristic. Manu Archeo’s remix of ‘Dulcis’ is a beautiful laid back downtempo jam that shimmers like a hazy day on the beach. We think you will like the organic and mystical ‘Fluminea’ as well. This EP couldn’t finish any better than on the ambient tip with a soul warming float on the marina remix by Ocean Moon. Fans of Balearic, Cafe Del Mar and chill out music will treasure this EP no doubt. This 12” comes with a CD as well. 🎴

DJ Monchan is the man with the goods and he soon makes a mark with opener 'Precious Love' which is a soul gem that will swell the heart. 'Feel It' is a rousing and gospel laced tune with belting vocals and 'Steal Away' then brings some funky disco ass-shaking. In its formative years in the first half of the 1990s, IRMA offshoot Calypso Records released some of the finest Italo-house records of the period. By the middle of the decade, though, the imprint was dipping its toe into darker and infinitely more druggy territory. DJ Nabile’s ‘Moonlight’, featuring some chanted and spoken lead vocals by Lucio Baradel, played a key role in this transformation. All these years on, it still sounds fresh. Side A boasts two of the earliest versions: the mind-mangling ‘Alfa Mix’, where dark and moody, Tenaglia-esque motifs ride an extra-percussive tribal house groove, and the more rolling ‘Gamma Mix’. Originally released on Balance in 1996, Circulation’s Patterins’ stands as a hallmark of the deep house movement, cherished for its rhythms and deep vibes that transport listeners back to an unforgettable era. On Side-1, the ‘Patterins’ (Iz & Diz Ghosts In Detroit Wake Up dub) is classy, smooth, and quintessential 90s deep house. It’s a beloved track that has finally received the proper reissue it deserves, maintaining its timeless appeal. This official reissue on FRL Classic Edition, now remastered, is superb. Also worthy of note on Side-2, features ‘Ex-Tempo,’ a perfect complement to the title track, making this release as a jam-packed house classic.
