• Porsche 2708 Indy: A Bold Chapter in American Racing History

In the late 1980s, Porsche ventured into uncharted territory, entering the fiercely competitive CART Championship in the United States. The result was the 2708 Indy, a groundbreaking single-seater designed to challenge the giants of American open-wheel racing.

Built on a carbon fiber chassis developed in collaboration with March Engineering and powered by a turbocharged V8 engine delivering over 750 horsepower, the 2708 embodied Porsche’s engineering ambition. The engine, specifically developed for high-speed ovals, marked a significant departure from Porsche’s traditional focus on road and endurance racing. Despite this innovative approach, the car struggled to compete against dominant power units from manufacturers like Cosworth and Ilmor.

Renowned driver Teo Fabi, with his wealth of experience in both Formula 1 and CART, was entrusted with the car during its debut season. However, even his talent couldn’t overcome the challenges posed by restrictive regulations, development hurdles, and the fierce competition on the grid.

After just one season, Porsche withdrew from the championship. Yet, the 2708 was far from a failure. The lessons learned from the project contributed to Porsche’s future innovations in motorsport. Today, this rare single-seater stands as a unique piece of Porsche history—a daring experiment that reflects the brand’s relentless drive to push boundaries.

The B186, along with the Brabham BT52, BT55, Arrows A9 and other BMW-engined cars from 1983 to 1986 are some of the most powerful Grand Prix cars ever built. The B186 in particular, being the most competitive of the BMW engined cars that season could produce 1,350+ hp in qualifying trim, and about 900 hp in race trim.

PS The livery of the B186 reflected its ownership: in addition to the Benetton green and team sponsors (principally Sisley and Riello) which covered the front and sidepods of the car, the engine cover was adorned with multi-coloured streaks on a white background. This indicated the Benetton Group’s “United Colors of Benetton” brand. The team also ran with tyres that had multi-coloured sidewalls at the Detroit Grand Prix •

Clint Eastwood’s Ferrari 275 GTB is a truly special car with a remarkable story.

It all began when producer Dino De Laurentiis, knowing the Hollywood star’s passion for luxury cars—particularly Ferraris—decided to gift Eastwood a vehicle befitting his stature. De Laurentiis ordered the 275 GTB, the most sporty and luxurious two-seater grand tourer produced by Maranello at the time.

What Makes Clint Eastwood’s Ferrari 275 GTB Special

Originally completed in March 1966, the car was finished in an elegant dark gray shade and featured distinctive details such as a speedometer calibrated in miles per hour (as it was destined for the U.S.), Borrani wire wheels, and sumptuous black leather upholstery (VM 8500). It was registered under “Dino De Laurentiis Cinematografica,” as noted in its documentation.

Unique design elements include higher bumpers, a split fuel tank positioned on either side of the trunk, an enlarged rear window, and external trunk hinges encased in chrome shells.

When Clint Eastwood finally received the keys to this Ferrari, he decided to make it his own. He entrusted George Barris, the legendary car customizer, with repainting it in a deep, dark green accented by shimmering emerald highlights that come alive under sunlight. Inside, Eastwood added a custom console to house a radio communication system, blending style with functionality.

This 275 GTB is more than just a car—it is a harmonious fusion of Eastwood’s refined taste, De Laurentiis’ generosity, and Ferrari’s timeless craftsmanship. A true icon of its era •
