Labour Department Kargil Conducts 2-Day Registration Camp in Zanskar for Unorganized Workers, e-Shram and Shop & Establishment Act Formalities.

Zanskar, October 3, 2025:
In a significant outreach initiative aimed at supporting unorganized workers and small businesses in remote areas, the Labour Department Kargil, under the direction and initiative of Executive Councillor LAHDC Kargil, Er. Phunchok Tashi, conducted a two-day registration and awareness camp in Zanskar.

The camp was organized following the request and personal intervention of Er. Phunchok Tashi, who recognized the difficulties faced by residents of Zanskar in accessing essential labour-related services. Responding to his request, the concerned officials from the Labour Department were deputed to Zanskar to carry out on-the-spot services for local residents.

During the camp, the department facilitated the renewal of approximately 35 labour cards and processed around 40 shop licences under the Shop & Establishment Act. In addition, registration under the e-Shram portal was promoted to bring unorganized workers into the national database, enabling their access to social security benefits.

Recognizing the overwhelming response and the logistical challenges in remote areas, Er. Phunchok Tashi also announced the extension of the last date for labour card renewal, allowing more beneficiaries to complete their formalities without hardship.

The Labour Department appreciated the support of the LAHDC Kargil and reiterated its commitment to reaching every corner of the district to ensure that no worker or business is left out of the formal system.

This initiative highlights the growing focus on inclusive governance and the commitment of LAHDC Kargil towards the welfare of the working class in the far-flung regions of Ladakh.
