Foundation for MEDIA Professionals The foundation is set up by a group of Senior journalists to uphold media freedom and promote qualit They have their place. The trade union is not dead yet.

The Foundation for Media Professionals is an effort to celebrate the romance of journalism. Journalistic collectives have so far either been watering holes or trade unions. The trade union belonged to a time when industry-wide wage awards decided salaries in newspapers and switching jobs was not easy. Despite the competition for talent and skills, there are sections, especially in the regional lan

guage media, where journalists are poorly paid and conditions of work could improve. Editors have a guild. Owners, whether of newspapers or TV channels have associations to lobby their interests. But there is no association that cuts across mediums to champion issues of professional interest to journalists. FMP is an attempt to plug that gap. We intend not only to be a cross-media organisation, but a pan-Indian one as well. Our intention is to establish demand-driven chapters in all state capitals. The Foundation for Media Professionals was set up by a group of senior journalists to uphold media freedom and promote quality journalism. It came into being on 25th April, 2008. The registration number under the societies act is S62029/2008. The Income Tax Pan No is AAAAF 0929Q and the Tan No is DELF 03626A. Rakesh Joshi takes care of adminstrative matters. His email is [email protected]. The mobile No is 98107 96858

The Centre has constituted a committee to prepare guidelines for the search and seizure of journalists' devices. The ASG committed to submitting them by 14 December, the next date of hearing.

This is based on our petition to the Supreme Court, asking for these guidelines. The PIL is drafted and we are represented by our legal counsel at Internet Freedom Foundation

See the 'interim guidelines' that we have suggested the court can apply till a final set is made applicable.
