About Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival
The Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival is about creativity, about trying to help people find their voice and its fun. It furthers the art and craft of storytelling by inspiring and championing the work of writers, filmmakers, and all the artists who use written and visual language to tell a story. It is India’s only independent international film festival, with a mission to celebrate the cinema & work of aspiring , young, independent & professional filmmakers.
It is important for Indian film industry because the aim is to recognize the enlightening, entertaining & progressive new age cinema of youth & experienced filmmakers.
The festival has sections for feature films, short films, documentaries, animations, music videos, and ad films. The festival awards the filmmakers in production, creative, music and performance categories. The festival will work towards strengthening the youth’s film movement within India as well as promoting Indian produced films around the globe.
It aims to broaden the youth’s perspective, inculcating within them a deeper understanding of Indian films that provide healthy and wholesome entertainment. It is to honour the lifetime effort of the father of Indian cinema, Dadasaheb Phalke Ji, the festival will celebrate the brilliance of the Indian film industry, which is making an effort to acknowledge as well as aid nascent projects by bringing them to mainstream audiences.
