INDIA QUARTERLY is a refereed journal of international affairs. Originally when it was launched in 1945, its focus was on India and Asia. But as India has changed over the decades, and so has the texture of global politics, the journal now solicits papers on themes that concern the possible variations in global politics that are likely to impact India’s interests. The phenomenon of globalization m
akes the
scope of the journal wider with every passing day. Sponsored by the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA), which was established in 1943, in pre-independence India, the aim of India Quarterly has been to encourage scholars, journalists and other freelance intellectuals to contribute original articles on matters concerning international relations and national foreign policies. The idea is to promote critical and objective analysis on any theme of importance for international understanding. Though we do not totally discourage theoretical writings, by and large we prefer empirical and policy-oriented articles. Falling within our special purview are such future global concerns as environmental issues, energy security, identity-centric conflicts and their international ramifications, cross-border movements of people and such related concerns as human trafficking, gunrunning, terrorist networking, migration of diseases, and international economic crime cartels. The opinions expressed in India Quarterly are those of the authors and need not necessarily be in conformity with the outlook of the ICWA. A book review section is a regular feature of the journal.
