New Farm Ordinances As Explained by AIKSCC Convenor V.M.Singh
Union Minister #HarsimratKaurBadal of the #AkaliDal resigned from the Narendra Modi government, hours ahead of the voting in the lower House on the Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020 as well as the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020.
Thousands of farmers across UP, Punjab and Haryana have been staging protests since the government introduced these Bills in the Lok Sabha, yet these were passed in the parliament on 17th of September.
We spoke to Sardar VM Singh, activist, lawyer and convener of All India Kisan Sangarsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC) to understand what was it the farmers protesting against and what makes these agricultural bills so contentious.
