JKAACL organises Cultural Festival at GHSS (Boys) Doda

Doda, November 25: A Cultural Festival was organized by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) here at Govt. Hr. Sec. Schoo (Boys), Doda. The Festival was a part of the series of Cultural Festivals being organized all over Jammu and Kashmir by JKAACL. The programme was presided over by Sh. Bharat Singh Manhas, Secretary JKAACL and Sh. Harvinder Singh, Deputy Commissioner Doda was the Chief Guest. Other dignitaries present in the programme were Sh. Abdul Qayoum, Sr. Superintendent of Police Doda, Sh. Bal Krishan, Chief Executive Officer Bhaderwah Development Authority, Sh. Purshotam Gouria, Chief Education Officer Doda, besides many prominent personalities of the area, a large gathering of people from all walks of life and students of various schools, witnessed the programme.
In his address Secretary JKAACL stressed upon the promotion and preservation of Local Culture of the different areas of the Jammu and Kashmir through organizing of such type of programes with special focus on youth, so that the local folk artists take the opportunity to showcase their art forms in a better way. He assured that much more such type of events shall be held in Chenab Valley in coming days.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Deputy Commissioner Doda commended the efforts of JKAACL for promoting and showcasing the local art and culture of the district at various forums to present its richness and to preserve it. Today on 23rd of November-2023, Doda Police organized awareness programme/counseling session of drivers and passengers in Assar area of Doda. The awareness programme was also attended by NCC Cadets of Govt. Hr. Secondary School Assar. The aim of conducting such programme is to sensitize drivers and passengers about the traffic rules, safety and security measures to be followed sincerely for safe and secure travelling.
The programme was organized by Inspector Arun Parkash, SHO PS Assar under the guidance of SSP Doda. A number of drivers/travelers travelling in heavy, medium and small vehicles were sensitized and advised to take all safety and security measures and follow the traffic rules sincerely for safe and secure journey. . The District Administration, under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh, orchestrated a human chain event from Thathri Sub Divisional Headquarter to Assar Sub-Divisional headquarter, alongside 60 Km national highway 244, to express solidarity with the families of the victims of recent bus accident in Assar. This initiative also serves to raise awareness about the importance of safe driving and adherence to traffic rules. The event saw a huge gathering of students and local people at the designated points along the route at Thathri, Premnagar, Pul Doda, Khellani, Jathi, and Assar, all dedicated to educating the community about responsible driving.
Supervised by Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh and SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom, the District Administration in Doda coordinated this massive human chain rally. This rally involves students from various schools across the district, stretching from Thathri to Assar. The primary purpose of this human chain is to pay homage to the 40 victims, including children and women, of the recent bus accident near Assar. Beyond the tribute, the rally aims to cultivate awareness regarding traffic rules and regulations, emphasizing safe driving practices among both commercial and private drivers. It also aimed to instil a culture of safe driving, addressing both commercial and private drivers. The participants held placards and banners with messages advocating safe driving practices. They also distributed pamphlets containing crucial information about traffic rules and road safety.
The rally emphasized responsible driving, highlighting the consequences of reckless behaviour on the roads. Doda, November 22: District Administration is taking every step to improve roads, give better transportation facilities, aware public of road safety measures and traffic rules and conduct traffic checking nakas to enforce the rules for the safety of the commuters. In furtherance to the efforts, today, the District Administration, under the supervision of Deputy commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh, introduced three new State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) buses for Doda-jammu highway, Doda-Batote and Doda-Marmat roads. The 32-seater bus for the Pul Doda-Batote route was flagged off by DC Doda Harvinder Singh alongwith SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom, while another 32-seater bus from Doda to Jammu was flagged off by President Muncipal Council Doda, Ved Parkash Gupta.
The launch of new busses in the already existing fleet of SRTC Buses, will enhance the transportation facilities for commuters. The aim of this initiative is to provide better and safer means of travel to the residents and visitors travelling to the District. The three newly introduced buses will significantly improve the transportation network and cater to the growing needs of the passengers.

DC Doda Singh inspected various aspects of the tunnel, including its structural integrity, ventilation systems, lighting facilities, and other safety measures. He also reviewed the compliance of the construction project with the specified standards and guidelines.

Doda, November 20: - In order to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents and travelers on the Batote-Doda-Kishtwar Highway, Harvinder Singh, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Doda, has initiated measures to augment healthcare services in the Community Health Center (CHC) Assar. This step aims to address any eventualities that may arise on the highway connecting distrct Doda and Kishtwar.
Assessing the recent bus accident at Assar and recognizing the significance of accessible and efficient healthcare facilities on highway, the DC Doda, in collaboration with the concerned authorities, is establishing a comprehensive healthcare plan for the CHC in Assar. These initiatives include the deployment of additional medical staff, the procurement of essential medical equipment, preparing/ training volunteers for Rescue/CPR/First aid and the improvement of infrastructure to enhance the overall quality and efficiency of healthcare and roads.

Bhaderwah, November 16: During the last night, a major fire incident was reported from Chinote, Bhaderwah, in which eight adjoining residential houses were gutted along with some shops and a food point. Fortunately, due to active efforts of locals and administration, loss to life was prevented
Divisional Commissioner Jammu, along with Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh, DIG DKR Sunil Gupta, SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom, President MC Bhaderwah, and other senior officers visited the incident site, met with the victim families and reviewed causes, damages, response to the tragedy by the concerned agencies, and the relief and rehabilitation being provided to the vitims.
Ramesh Kumar took first hand appraisal and assessment of the damages caused from the devastating fire incident and asked the ADC Bhaderwah Ch Dil Mir to conduct a detailed report on the cause of devastating fire incidence and evaluate the preparedness and response by the Fire & Emergency Department, and other stakeholders.
Interacting with the fire affected, the Div Com expressed support and sympathy with them, and assured that the incidence shall be inquired in detail, and all the safety measures shall be put in place from the administrative side, to avoid such incidences, or minimise the loss in future. He also assured that every kind of possible support shall be provided from the District Administration for their immediate rehabilitation.
It is pertinent to mention that required tents, blankets, utensils, kitchen appliances, and other relief material have already been provided to the victim families by the district administration. Further, the Sub District Administration has been instructed to asses the losses for compensation under State Disaster Response Funds.

*Night Patrols & Raids Intensified in Samba : SSP Samba Benam Tosh*
Samba, Nov 16 : Under the guidance of Senior Superintendent of Police Samba Benam Tosh, Police has unearthed big pilferage of essential commodity, seized two tankers of Indane Gas Agency & forty one big gas cylinders and arrested two accused red-handed while extracting gas from tankers using pipes and filling the same in the commercial gas cylinders to be sold at the price lower than market rates.
A case FIR No. 274/2023 u/s 3/7 EC Act, 406, 409, 120-B, 285, 413 IPC has been registered at Police Station Samba through Police Post Supwal and investigation is underway.
The arrested accused have been identified as Ravi Kumar s/o Girdhari Lal r/o Motlian Kalan Utterbehni, tehsil Vijaypur, district Samba and Happy Manyal s/o Ashok Kumar r/o Diani, tehsil and district Samba. However, two drivers of the tankers managed to flee from the spot taking advantage of darkness. They too have been identified and raids are being conducted to arrest them. Some more arrests are likely in this serious case of criminal conspiracy for pilferage of essential commodity, criminal breach of trust, act of habitual receiving of pilferaged property having knowledge that the same was pilferaged and rash act with combustible matter endangering human lives.
Initial investigation revealed that the same pilferage of gas from Indane gas tankers had been committed for the last over four months at the same place during midnight hours. The Indane gas tankers coming from Punjab side to Indane LPG Bottling Plant Bari Brahmana, Samba used to come to this particular place i.e Chhajwal Barian, Supwal Samba at odd night hours for pilferage purpose.

DODA, NOV 16 - At least half a dozen residential houses, a guest house and a food point were gutted in a major fire that broke put in Bhaderwah town of Doda district, officials said on Thursday.
An official said that the fire broke out in Chinote locality of Bhaderwah town in the wee hours today.
He said that soon after the incident fire tenders rushed to the spot, however, half a dozen residential houses, a guest house, a food point were reduced to ashes by the time they reached.
SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom said that police have started investigation into the matter, but as per preliminary probe short circuit seems to be the reason behind the fire.

The theme for this year's National Ayurveda Day was "Ayurveda for one health". The event aimed to raise awareness about the role of Ayurveda in preventing and managing a better lifestyle and to address the growing health concerns in India.
Speaking on the occasion, DDC Doda emphasized the role of yoga in day to day life and exhorted upon the need to grow and use the local medicinal plants in day-to-day requirements. He firmly assured that Ayurveda is going to play a crucial role in the healthcare system in comings times. Doda will be the hub for Ayurvedic medicine, as the National level High Altitude Medicinal Plant is coming up in Bhaderwah, DC added. Attendees at the event were given free consultations and demonstrations of Ayurvedic treatments. Herbal medicine stalls were installed in the town Hall for the awareness of the people.
