ഇന്ത്യൻ സമുദ്ര വിവര സേവന കേന്ദ്രം ഇൻകോയ്‌സും ഇന്ത്യ കാലാവസ്ഥ വിഭാഗവും അറിയിക്കുന്നതനുസരിച്ച് ഏപ്രിൽ 3-ാം തിയതി ബുധനാഴ്ച രാവിലെ 10 മണിക്കുള്ള അറിയിപ്പ്.

ഇന്ന് ബുധനാഴ്ച, അഞ്ചുതെങ്ങ് മുതൽ പൂന്തുറ വരെയുള്ള തീരക്കടലിൽ വടക്ക് പടിഞ്ഞാറ് ദിശയിൽ നിന്നും ചില സമയങ്ങളിൽ തെക്ക് പടിഞ്ഞാറ്,വടക്ക് കിഴക്ക് ദിശകളിൽ നിന്നും മണിക്കൂറിൽ 19 കിലോമീറ്റർ വേഗതയിലാണ് കാറ്റ് വീശുക.തീരത്ത് നിന്നും 20 കിലോമീറ്ററിന് അപ്പുറം ദൂരക്കടലിൽ ഇതേ ദിശകളിൽ നിന്നും മണിക്കൂറിൽ 17 കിലോമീറ്ററായിരിക്കും കാറ്റിൻറെ വേഗത.പൂന്തുറ മുതൽ പൂവാർ വരെയുള്ള തീരക്കടലിൽ വടക്ക് പടിഞ്ഞാറ്,തെക്ക് പടിഞ്ഞാറ് ദിശകളിൽ നിന്നും ചില സമയങ്ങളിൽ വടക്ക് കിഴക്ക് ദിശയിൽ നിന്നും മണിക്കൂറിൽ 15 കിലോമീറ്റർ വേഗതയിലാണ് കാറ്റ് വീശുക.തീരത്ത് നിന്നും 20 കിലോമീറ്ററിന് അപ്പുറം ദൂരക്കടലിൽ വടക്ക് പടിഞ്ഞാറ്,തെക്ക് പടിഞ്ഞാറ് ദിശകളിൽ നിന്നും ചില സമയങ്ങളിൽ തെക്ക് കിഴക്ക് ദിശയിൽ നിന്നും മണിക്കൂറിൽ 15 കിലോമീറ്ററായിരിക്കും കാറ്റിൻറെ വേഗത.പൂവാറിന് തെക്കും കന്യാകുമാരി മേഖലയിലും തെക്ക് പടിഞ്ഞാറ് ദിശയിൽ നിന്നും ചില സമയങ്ങളിൽ വടക്ക് പടിഞ്ഞാറ്,തെക്ക് കിഴക്ക് ദിശകളിൽ നിന്നും മണിക്കൂറിൽ 19 കിലോമീറ്റർ ആയിരിക്കും കാറ്റിൻറെ വേഗത.തിരുവനന്തപുരം ഭാഗത്ത് അലകൾ തെക്ക് പടിഞ്ഞാറ്,തെക്ക് കിഴക്ക് ദിശകളിൽ നിന്നും 3 അടി മുതൽ 5 അടി വരെ ഉയരത്തിലായിരിക്കും.ഇന്ന് തിരുവനന്തപുരം,കൊല്ലം ജില്ലകളിൽ ചെറിയ മഴയ്ക്ക് സാധ്യതയുള്ളതായി ഐ.എം.ഡി.മുന്നറിയിപ്പ് നൽകുന്നു.

വരുന്ന വെള്ളിയാഴ്ച,അഞ്ചുതെങ്ങ് മുതൽ പൂന്തുറ വരെയുള്ള തീരക്കടലിൽ വടക്ക് പടിഞ്ഞാറ് ദിശയിൽ നിന്നും മണിക്കൂറിൽ 26 കിലോമീറ്റർ വേഗതയിലാണ് കാറ്റ് വീശുക.തീരത്ത് നിന്നും 20 കിലോമീറ്ററിന് അപ്പുറം ദൂരക്കടലിൽ ഇതേ ദിശയിൽ നിന്നും മണിക്കൂറിൽ 23 കിലോമീറ്ററായിരിക്കും കാറ്റിൻറെ വേഗത.പൂന്തുറ മുതൽ പൂവാർ വരെയുള്ള തീരക്കടലിൽ വടക്ക് പടിഞ്ഞാറ് ദിശയിൽ നിന്നും മണിക്കൂറിൽ 26 കിലോമീറ്റർ വേഗതയിലാണ് കാറ്റ് വീശുക.തീരത്ത് നിന്നും 20 കിലോമീറ്ററിന് അപ്പുറം ദൂരക്കടലിൽ വടക്ക് പടിഞ്ഞാറ്,തെക്ക് പടിഞ്ഞാറ് ദിശകളിൽ നിന്നും മണിക്കൂറിൽ 24 കിലോമീറ്ററായിരിക്കും കാറ്റിൻറെ വേഗത.പൂവാറിന് തെക്കും കന്യാകുമാരി മേഖലയിലും വടക്ക് പടിഞ്ഞാറ്,തെക്ക് പടിഞ്ഞാറ് ദിശകളിൽ നിന്നും മണിക്കൂറിൽ 29 കിലോമീറ്റർ ആയിരിക്കും കാറ്റിൻറെ വേഗത.

FEJI Collaborates with Fishermen’s Marine Weather Service

The Forum of Environmental Journalists in India (FEJI), based in Bangalore, is pleased to announce its collaboration with Radio Monsoon, a Malayalam-language, online daily weather forecast run by trained local youth, for 42 villages along the 80-km long Thiruvananthapuram coastline.

As the Arabian Sea turns stormier from weather-related hazards in the monsoon, making small-boat fishing hazardous and threatening livelihoods, this online weather service encourages local fisherfolk to fish more safely.

Radio Monsoon’s daily weather bulletins are based on forecasts from India Meteorological Department and the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services, as well as fishers’ local knowledge and value addition by Cochin University of Science and Technology’s Advanced Centre for Atmospheric Radar Research.

Radio Monsoon also contributes to local efforts to improve marine forecasts by gathering and sharing fishers’ feedback on forecast quality and relevance.

These bulletins and magazine programmes promoting sea safety and local culture are disseminated online and through social media, loudspeakers, fishers’ informal radio communication and by word of mouth.

FEJI’s collaboration is aimed at helping local communities tackle climate-related risks. It includes media training and technology inputs, and is being conducted by veteran journalist, cm geographer and researcher, Max Martin.
