THE CONCLUDING DAY OF 15TH ANNUAL BISWA ODISSI UTSAV 2024

15th Annual Biswa Odissi Utsav 2024 organised by Samskritiki Cultural Society in association with Odissi International Forum, a global network of Odissi dancers and Odissi dance institutions and supported by the Department of Odia language, Literature and Culture of Odisha Government concluded with lots of memories.

Morning Session under 10 category dancers performed in the stage were Riyanshi Satpathy, Bhubaneswar, Riyanshika Barik, Bhubaneswar, Seren Patro, USA, Rish*tashree Rath, Rourkela, Pratyusha Mishra, Bhubaneswar. Under 20 category dancers were Srishti Mohapatra, Bhubaneswar, Saanvi Maharana, Bhubaneswar, Tapaswini Sahoo, Bhubaneswar, Lipsa Liteeka Nayak, Bhubaneswar, Dish*ta Sahoo, Bhubaneswar, Swayampragyan Sahu, Burla, Siddhi Samriddhi, Bhubaneswar, Anshika Singh, Bhubaneswar, Shreyasmi Satrusallya, Bengaluru, Shiksha Priyadarshini, Sambalpur, Sharanya Patnaik, Bhubaneswar, Sujal Sai Krishna Behera, Bharati Kala Bikash Kendra, Burla, Purbi Pratyashi Mahaling, Burla, Priyanka Mahapatra, Bhubaneswar and Abhijita Panda, Bhubaneswar.

Afternoon Session under 30 category dancers were Purabi Pattnaik, Bhubaneswar, Sharmistha Panigrahi, Bengaluru, Sunita Biswal, Bhubaneswar, Subhashree Ray, Cuttack, Shreenika Panda, Burla, Sanjeev Kumar, Bhubaneswar, Satya Prakash, Bhubanerswar, Sunil Kumar Behera, Bhubaneswar, Pompi Paul, Jalpaiguri and group presentation made by the artistes of Suravi, Kamakshyanagar (Director: Pitambar Biswal).

Evening Session started with Solo Odissi dance by special invite Madhusmita Mohanty, Bhubaneswar followed by another solo dance by Pravat Kumar Swain, Bhubaneswar. Next programme was Naba Durga performed by Sanchari Ensemble, Bhubaneswar (Director: Rudraprasad Swain). The Original Dance Choreographed by Padmashree Guru Pankaj Charan Das, Music Composed by Sangeet Sudhakar Balakrushna Dash and Group Dance Choreographed and Directed by Sri Rudraprasad Swain followed by another group dance by Shree Dance Academy, Bhubaneswar (Director: Namita Ray). They are presented Jaganathastakam set to Raga- Pilu, Tala- Jati, Music Composed by Guru Shri Ramahari Dash, Rhythm Composed by Guru Shri Dhaneswar Swain and Dance Choreographed by Guru Shri Durga Charan Ranbir. Next presentation of the evening was group dance by Nrutya Naibedya, Bhubaneswar (Director: Pravat Kumar Swain). Last presentation of concluding evening was group Odissi dance by senior artistes of Adruta-RAWA Academy, Bhubaneswar. They are presented Shivashtaka, Dance choreographed by Guru Dr. Deba Prasad Das. Dance Directed by Guru Sri Bharat Charan Giri.

The dignitaries who graced the concluding evening were Smt. Dipti Mishra, Shri Bichitrananda Swain, Shri Bijay Kumar Jena, Shri Pitambar Biswal, Smt. Rina Routray. The entire festival is curated, conceptualized, and designed by Shyamahari Chakra, with punctilious programme ex*****on by Sanghamitra Muduli, Sucheta Mishra, Dr. Pampi Poul, Monaswani Mohanty, Dinabandhu Pati and Swadhin Kumar.

THE 15TH ANNUAL BISWA ODISSI UTSAV 2024 ENTERED INTO 3RD DAY

15th Annual Biswa Odissi Utsav 2024 organised by Samskritiki Cultural Society in association with Odissi International Forum, a global network of Odissi dancers and Odissi dance institutions and supported by the Department of Odia language, Literature and Culture of Odisha Government showcased Odissi Solo, Duet and Group presentations by the young, eminent and noted artistes across the globe.

Morning Session showcased under 10 category dancers like Devanshi Mukherjee of Bhubaneswar, Shradha Mohanty of Bengaluru, Shreeya Satvika Sahoo of Bhubaneswar, Myrah Kar of USA and Shivanshi Ghosh of Canada. Under 20 category dancers were Seeya Nanda of Bengaluru, Shreejita Suman of Bhubaneswar, Aradhya Mohanty of Bengaluru, Tarang Yadav of USA, Paridiksha Pattanaik of Bhubaneswar, Anshika Tripathy of Sambalpur, Kavya Iyer of USA, Priyadarshini Avanti Banga of USA, Chirashree Bhandari of West Bengal, Tejal Mishra of Bhubaneswar, Riya Shree Panda of Ranchi, Tanestha Pati of Mumbai, Amolika Pradhan of Rourkela and Swayang Samparna of Rourkela.

Afternoon Session first presentation was Group Odissi Dance by Nrutya Upasana Pitha of Bhubaneswar led by Sonali Mohapatra followed by another group performance of Jagruti Cultural Academy, Bhubaneswar led by Dusmanta Kumar Swain. Next item was Solo dance by Rosalin Rout of Rourkela, Sakshi Jajoo of USA, followed by Group Odissi Dance by Sadhana Cultural Academy, Bhubaneswar led by Sanghamitra Muduli. Next Solo Odissi dance presented by Tania Manna of Kolkata, Pragyan Dash of USA, Surjyanshi Mishra of Rourkela, Next item was Group Odissi dance by Poushali Mukherjee Dance Academy, Kolkata led by Poushali Mukherjee. Followed by another Group performance by Devasruta Odissi Academy of Ranchi led by Sabita Mishra. Next presentation was Solo Odissi dance by Anjanamoyee Saikia of Guwahati and afternoon session last item was Janasammohini Pallavi by Hanna Weng of Taiwan.

Evening Session started with Group Odissi dance by the dancers of Debadasi, Bhubaneswar led by Rosalin Mohapatra presented Abhinaya Mohana Murati Chhai followed by Solo Odissi dance by Tanisha Tanushree of Bhubaneswar. Next item was Duet performance by Chandrima Dey and Soupal Das, Jalpaiguri. Next group presentation was Aahe Nila Saila by Bharati Nurtya Mandir, Bhubaneswar led by Bharat Charan Giri. Suravi, Bhubaneswar led by Pitambar Biswal presented Pallavi- Ananda Bhairavi followed by another group dance Abhinaya Niyati by UDRA, Bhubaneswar led by Subhalaxmi Padhi.

2ND DAY OF 15TH ANNUAL BISWA ODISSI UTSAV 2024 CONFINED WITH INTERNATIONAL ODISSI PRATIVA TALENT SEARCH SESSIONS

15th Annual Biswa Odissi Utsav 2024 organised by Samskritiki Cultural Society in association with Odissi International Forum, a global network of Odissi dancers and Odissi dance institutions and supported by the Department of Odia language, Literature and Culture of Odisha Government entered into 2nd day. Second day of 15th Annual Biswa Odissi Utsav 2024 showcased International Odissi Pratival Talent Search Sessions.

Morning Session showcased under 10 category dancers like Anusha Prasad of Bhubaneswar, Anaisha Jena of Bhubaneswar, Poorvi Tia Rath of Bhubaneswar, Aadya Additri Panda of Mumbai, Aurora Chakraborty of West Bengal and Hridya Das of Bengaluru. Under 20 category dancers were Sanika Patra of Bhubaneswar, Rupsa De Roy of West Bengal, Shaivi Shiv of Guwahati, Devishi VS of Bengaluru, Anubha Abhilipsa of Rajgangpur, Debatri Goswami of Jalpaiguri, Ayushi Swain of Bengaluru, Simontini Mani of Jalpaiguri, Anchita Kar of Bhubaneswar and Varija Daga of Ahmedabad.

Afternoon Session under 30 category dancers were Subhasmita Subudhi of Bhubaneswar, Juli Nag of Bengaluru, Arati Sahoo of Bhubaneswar, Sahana Sarangi of USA, Anavi Mullick of Bengaluru, Lucrezia Ottoboni of Italy, Akshatha N Tirumale of Bengaluru, Swati Pattanaik (Suravi) of Bhubaneswar. Afternoon session last presentation was Group Odissi dance by Pradakshina School of Odissi Dance, Cuttack. Their first item was Pallavi set to Raga Vasant and Taala Ekataali followed by Abhinaya Mani Bimane Gobinda set to Raag Shankarabharan and Taala: Khemata.

Evening Session first item was Group Odissi dance by the dancers of Odissi Dance Centre, Bengaluru led by Devjani Sen. Their first item was Rasamanjari Pallavi, the dance choreographed by Smt Devjani Sen and the music composed by Shri Binod Panda followed by Hanuman Chalisa set to Raag Maalika, Taal Maalika. The Dance was choreographed by Smt Devjani Sen, Music Composited by Sri Sukanta Kumar Kundu and Rhythm Composed by Guru Dhaneswar Swain. Next group dance was Mokshya presented by the students of Adruta-RAWA Academy, Bhubaneswar led by Bharat Charan Giri. Next item was another group Odissi dance by Odissi Dance Company, USA led by Aparupa Chatterjee presented Batu set to Raaga-Mohana. Taala - Eka taali, the dance Choreographed by Padmavibhushan Late Guru Shri Kelucharan Mohapatra and Music Composed by Pandit Bhubaneshwar Mishra followed by Navadurga set to Raga-Bhairavi, Tala-Jati, dance choreographed by Guru Shri Ratikanta Mohapatra and music composed by Shri Harihar Panda. Last presentation made by Debadatta Lahiry, Jalpaiguri, West Bengal.

The dignitaries who graced the second day function were Shri Ratikanta Mohapatra, Director, Srjan; Shri Dhaneswar Swain, Eminent Mardala Player and Shri Kedar Mishra, Dance Critic. The entire festival is curated, conceptualized, and designed by Shyamahari Chakra, with punctilious programme ex*****on by Sanghamitra Muduli, Sucheta Mishra, Dr. Pampi Poul, Monaswani Mohanty, Dinabandhu Pati and Swadhin Kumar.

15th Annual Biswa Odissi Utsav 2024 organised by Samskritiki Cultural Society in association with Odissi International Forum, a global network of Odissi dancers and Odissi dance institutions and supported by the Department of Odia language, Literature and Culture of Odisha Government got off to a colourful start. This festival showcasing nearly 300 Odissi dancers from India and abroad who captivated the audience by their splendid performances.

The objective of the festival is to experience the beauty and grace of Odissi dance presented by the dancers from across the globe. The 15th annual edition of Biswa Odissi Utsav will continue till 26th December 2024 at Bhanja Kala Mandap, Bhubaneswar from 10 am to 10 pm every day. The festival, that was launched in 2010 in Bhubaneswar as an annual union of the global Odissi family in the land of Odissi, is curated by journalist and dance critic Shyamhari Chakra who is the founder of Odissi International Forum and Samskritiki. Odissi International Forum has been hosting Odissi Utsavs in Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune, Hyderabad, Guwahati and Ranchi every year. The four-day festival this year presents 115 solo dancers and 20 groups from different parts of India and from foreign countries like Taiwan, Japan, UK, USA, Canada, Italy, Bangladesh and Africa.

First presentation of the inaugural morning session was Odissi solo dance under 10 category by Aaditri Behera from Bhubaneswar presented Abhinaya Dekha Go Sakhi Dekha followed by another Solo Odissi Dance by Shriyashree Mohapatra from Bhubaneswar presented Sthai Nato set to Raag - Bajrakanti and Taal- Khemta & Ektali, Music Composed by Guru Sarat Kumar Sahoo, Rhythm Composed by Guru Padma Charan Dehuri and Dance Choreographed by Guru Jyoti Rout. Other Solo Odissi dancers under 10 category were Ishanvy Acharya from Bhubaneswar, B Githa Sriharini from Burla and B Janvi from Burla.

Morning Session under 20 category dancers were Devanshi Priyadarshini Panda from Bhubaneswar, B Srinandini from Jajpur, Misba Anjum from Jajpur, Dibyansi Chaudhury from Keonjhar, Smruti Sudeshna Nayak from Kenojhar, Medha Samal from Sundargarh, Manaswini Biswal from Keonjhar, Jenifer Nancy Paswan from Keonjhar, Tanusri Panda from Keonjhar, Digbijay Biswal from Bhubaneswar and Swagatika Sahoo from Bhubaneswar.

Afternoon Session under 30 category first presentation was Solo Odissi dance by Bishwaranjan Nayak from Rourkela presented Abhinaya Minanayana, the Dance Choreographed by Guru Debaprasad Das and directed by Guru Sri Niladri Mohanty followed by another Solo Odissi dance by Tejaswini Dash from Cuttack presented Abhinaya Dasavatara. Next item was Group Odissi dance by the dancers of Sadhana Dance Institute of Bhubaneswar followed by Duet Odissi dance by Arpita Ganguly and her daughter Mihira Mitra coming from USA performed Mangalacharan - Pada Bande, the Dance choreographed by Padma Vibhushan Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, Music Composed by Sangeet Sudhakar Shri Balakrushna Das and Dance Directed by Guru Sujata Mohapatra. Next item was Basant Pallavi presented by Lily Lu coming from Taiwan followed by Group Odissi dance by Sai Kala Kendra of Keonjhar, Adiguru Odissi Gurukul of Bhubanerswar, Jyoti Kala Mandir of Bhubaneswar and afternoon last item was Duet Odissi dance by Noor Raza and Tithibhadra Mohapatra, Berhampur.
Evening Session first item was Solo Odissi dance by Suchismita Sahoo from Nrutya Naivedya, Bhubaneswar followed by Group Odissi dance by Adruta-RAWA Academy, Bhubaneswar presented Sivastaka, dance choreographed by Guru Dr. Deba Prasad Das and dance directed by Guru Sri Bharat Charan Giri. Next item was Solo odissi dance by Srishti Upasana Sahu from USA presented Devgandhari Pallavi, dance choreographed by Guru Bichitrananda Swain music composed by Guru Ramhari Das, rhythm composed by Guru Dhaneshwar Swain, dance directed by Smt Stuti Sahu and Shri Lingaraj Pradhan followed by another Solo Odissi dance by Sanjitarani Santra, Oregon, USA presented Abhinaya Malli Mala Shyama Ku Debi. Next item was Solo Odissi dance by Subhendu Kumar Dash from Bhubaneswar presented Agnee set to Raga-Raga Malika, Tala-Tala Malika. dance choreographed by Guru Puspita Mishra, music composed by Guru Dhaneswar Swain and Guru Sukanta Kumar Kundu. Inaugural evening last presentation was Group Odissi dance by the dancers of Surya Gurukul of Bhubaneswar. They presented Mahisa Mardini set to Raga -Charukeshi Tala - Ekatali and Rupaktali, music composed by Krushna Chandra Roy, rhythm composed by Guru Dhaneswar Swain, Dance composed by Guru Amulya Balabanta Ray and dance directed by Guru Smt Sangeeta Chhotaray.

The dignitaries who graced the inaugural function were Smt. Sikata Das, Noted Odissi Danseuse and Former Chief Executive GKCM Odissi Research Centre; Shri Dhaneswar Swain, Eminent Mardala Player; Smt. Sujata Mohapatra, Eminent Odissi Dancer; Smt. Jyoti Rout, Eminent Odissi Dancer and Smt. Devjani Sen, Eminent Odissi Dancer. The entire festival is curated, conceptualized, and designed by Shyamahari Chakra, with punctilious programme ex*****on by Sanghamitra Muduli, Sucheta Mishra, Dr. Pampi Poul, Monaswani Mohanty, Dinabandhu Pati and Swadhin Kumar.
