Ethics and Moral Lessons in Tapan Sinha’s Apanjan
By Michelangelo Paganopoulos
Apanjan, released in 1968, raised questions regarding the role of the older generation in a rapidly changing India. What makes Tapan Sinha’s Apanjan a must-watch today is that it is a means of waking up and remembering a time when human faults were forgiven in the light of ‘one’s own.’ Michelangelo Paganopoulos writes on Apanjan focusing on the moral tale of the film and its relevance in today’s society.

Our Story
Learning & Creativity is your one stop resource for all that is associated with encouraging learning and creativity in children, teens and even adults. Silhouette Magazine, our sister publication, a space, is born not of conviction rather of profound confusion in our understanding of the world. It seeks to be a platform for gathering myriad views on film (and allied art forms) and to continue with the flux of discourse. The Silhouette publications are our attempt to achieve this goal.
Learning & Creativity is focused on encouraging learning and creative pursuits in everyone (from kids to adults) who is passionate about enhancing his/her knowledge and creative output. The idea is to encourage people to share their hidden talents – such as writing poetry, short stories, musings, travelogues, or sharing their creative artwork or photography.
Our dream had first taken shape in the form of a hugely popular literary website named Meghdutam.com launched way back in 1999. Meghdutam had become a very popular and dynamic platform of budding writers, poets, critics and child artists.

Learning & Creativity offers the finest literary works, short stories literary tips, art by kids, articles by teens, creative art, poems, musings, book reviews, movie reviews, interviews, photography… and more!
Silhouette Magazine publishes critical, analytical and research based articles on cinema, music and allied art forms.
Silhouette magazine started its journey in January 2002. The annual paper edition used to be a bilingual magazine in English and Bengali from Kolkata (India) and survived 8 editions. For quite sometime the editorial board of Silhouette dilly-dallied with the web option of the magazine – whether to continue with a sluggish and expensive medium or not was the supreme question. And finally the web editions started in 2011 – we had 8 issues collected under Volumes IX and X in a not so state-of-the-art website. Our urgency to move to the web and let the ball roll again was the main reason for this.
We have eventually now moved to the more professionally and aesthetically managed Learning and Creativity micro-site and plan to regularly update the site with articles from authors rather than collections as Issues and Volumes.
In parallel, we have plans of having some other interesting stuff up in the Silhouette site – competitions, awards etc. when the time seem to be appropriate for these ventures.
Silhouette earnestly solicits your valuable association and views – for us, you and our changing silhouettes.
Explore… enjoy… learn and create!!!
Of course, don’t forget to share all your published creations with your friends and family!!!
