Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan recently made headlines after a man broke into his Bandra penthouse and stabbed him multiple times. Now, Saif is in the news for a completely different reason: his family may lose control of several valuable properties worth ₹15,000 crores.

These properties include Flag Staff House (where Saif grew up), Noor-Us-Sabah Palace, Dar-Us-Salam, Ahmedabad Palace, and Kohefiza Property. But why is the government considering taking over these lands?

Why Are These Properties at Risk?
The government has labeled these properties as “enemy property.” After the 1947 partition, some families moved to Pakistan, leaving behind their properties. The Indian government took control of these lands and declared them “enemy property.”

Saif Ali Khan’s Family Connection
The properties in question belong to Saif’s family through his grandmother’s side, the Bhopal royal family. The last ruler of Bhopal, Nawab Hamidullah Khan, had two daughters:

- Abida Sultan, who moved to Pakistan after the partition.
- Sajida Sultan, who stayed in India and became the legal heir.
When Abida Sultan moved to Pakistan, the Indian government took control of her properties, calling them “enemy property.” Saif’s family argues that the properties rightfully belong to them.

What’s Happening in Court?
1. 2005: The court issued a stay order preventing the government from taking control during the legal battle between the families.
2. 2015: The Madhya Pradesh High Court lifted the stay order, allowing the government to proceed.
3. 2024: In December, the court gave Saif’s family 30 days to file an appeal. If they don’t, the government can take control.

What Happens If the Government Takes Control?
If the government takes over, Saif’s family could lose ownership of these properties. The properties at risk are in Bhopal, but Saif’s other properties, like his Pataudi house, are safe.

On 7th February 2025, Jeet Adani, the youngest son of Asia's second richest businessman, Gautam Adani, is set to marry Diva Shah in a wedding that is expected to be even more lavish than Anant Ambani’s. The event will take place in Ahmedabad, with pre-wedding festivities starting from 5th February.

Jeet Adani, a director at Adani Airports, which manages six airports across India, is a graduate from the University of Pennsylvania's School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Reports suggest that he has been engaged to Diva Shah since March 2023.
The wedding promises to be a grand affair with some jaw-dropping plans. Rumors initially suggested that the wedding would take place at the Motera Stadium (now the Narendra Modi Stadium), with an India-England cricket match being rescheduled to accommodate the event.

The venue will be adorned with thousands of exotic lily flowers sourced from around the world, and a record-breaking rangoli will be created by 20,000 to 50,000 artists. The celebrations will light up the night sky with a spectacular drone show featuring 25,000 drones.

According to some medical studies and reports, wearing tight petticoats or dhotis for a long period of time may increase the risk of skin cancer. Though it’s rare, it has been found that the constant friction, pressure, and lack of proper airflow in certain areas of the body could cause serious skin damage, and in some cases, lead to cancer.

Causes of Skin Damage from Tight Petticoats or Dhotis
There are a few factors that can contribute to the development of skin cancer when wearing tight clothing around the waist. These are:
Chronic Friction: The constant rubbing of fabric against the skin can damage skin cells over time.

Daily Pressure: Wearing tight clothes regularly puts continuous pressure on the skin, leading to long-term issues.

Lack of Sunlight: These areas often remain covered and do not get enough sunlight, which is important for healthy skin.

These include: Depigmentation (skin losing its natural color), Scarrin, Skin Thickening, Ulceration and Rough, Scaly Skin.

If these issues are not noticed early, they can potentially lead to skin cancer, as damaged skin cells can start turning cancerous.

A Real-Life Case: How Tight Saree Wearing Led to Skin Cancer
A recent case that went viral highlighted the risk of wearing tight sarees for years. A 70-year-old woman who had been wearing sarees tightly wrapped around her waist for decades developed a skin ulcer on her abdomen. Over time, the pressure from the tight petticoat caused significant skin damage, leading to a painful, non-healing ulcer. Unfortunately, this ulcer turned cancerous, leading to a full-blown case of skin cancer.

The woman shared her experience, saying, “I wore a tightly wrapped saree for decades, unaware it could harm my health. A minor skin change turned into a painful, non-healing ulcer, eventually diagnosed as skin cancer.” This highlights how something as simple as wearing tight clothing can cause serious health problems over time.

How to Prevent Skin Cancer from Tight Petticoats or Dhotis
While the risk is low (only about 1% of skin cancer cases are caused by tight petticoats and dhotis), it is still important to take precautions. Here are some simple tips to avoid potential harm:

Avoid Very Tight Petticoats or Waistbands: Always ensure that your petticoat or dhoti is not too tight around your waist.

Rotate the Position of the Saree’s Knot: If you wear sarees regularly, change the position of the knot to avoid constant pressure on the same spot.

Opt for a Broader Waistband: A broader waistband puts less pressure on the skin and is more comfortable.

Choose Soft Fabric: Soft and breathable fabrics are better for your skin and can reduce irritation.

As the 2025 Delhi Legislative Assembly elections approach, the ongoing political dispute over the water supply in Delhi has taken a new turn. On January 27, 2025, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of polluting the Yamuna River in Haryana, which supplies water to Delhi.

The Yamuna River, which flows from the Yamunotri glacier in Uttarakhand through Haryana and into Delhi, has been at the center of this controversy. AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal accused the BJP government in Haryana of intentionally mixing harmful chemicals, or "poison," into the water coming to Delhi. Kejriwal claimed that this was done to harm Delhi’s water supply, to tarnish AAP’s reputation, and to influence the outcome of the elections.

Kejriwal even warned that this pollution could lead to "mass genocide" in Delhi. As a result, the Delhi government had to cut the water supply to some areas to prevent contaminated water from being distributed. Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann supported Kejriwal’s claims and wrote a joint letter to the Election Commission. The letter included reports that ammonia levels in the Yamuna had increased significantly, making the water unsafe for consumption and affecting the water filtration process at Delhi’s treatment plants.

However, the Delhi Jal Board (DJB), which is responsible for water supply in the city, denied these claims. DJB CEO Shilpa Shinde wrote a letter to the Delhi Chief Secretary, saying that the ammonia levels in the Yamuna river increase every winter between October and February, which is normal. She assured that the DJB was handling the situation and that the water quality would soon return to normal. Shinde criticized AAP's accusations, saying they were "factually incorrect" and were likely made to influence the upcoming election.

Despite this, Kejriwal continued his accusations, writing on social media, "If the people of Delhi are not voting for BJP, will you kill them by giving them water mixed with poison?" Atishi also criticized Shinde’s response, calling it a "desperate, last-minute reaction."

Meanwhile, BJP Delhi president Virendra Sachdeva accused Kejriwal of trying to scare voters to win the election. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini dismissed AAP's claims, saying it was a habit of the party to blame others. Saini even drank water from the Yamuna River to show that the water was safe and not poisoned. He challenged AAP to test the water in front of the Chief Secretaries of both Delhi and Haryana.

A court in Sonipat, Haryana, has summoned Arvind Kejriwal on February 17 to prove his claims that the BJP government is adding "poison" to the Yamuna water before it reaches Delhi. Kejriwal had promised to clean the Yamuna in 2015 and again in 2020, but these promises have not been fulfilled.

Home Minister Amit Shah also took a swipe at Kejriwal, saying that his promise to clean the Yamuna and take a dip in the river in front of the people of Delhi remained unfulfilled. The pollution in the Yamuna River is a serious concern, especially during events like Chhath Puja, when people continue to bathe in the polluted water despite videos showing foam and dirt floating on it.

The debate over the Yamuna’s pollution has become a political issue, with both AAP and BJP using it for election gains. While the water quality in Delhi remains questionable, no official steps have been taken yet to test or address the pollution in the Yamuna River.

As the election nears, the people of Delhi are left to wonder if the water crisis will be solved, or if it will continue to be a point of political conflict.

This island reminds of an alien planet in a science fiction film.

This island is so isolated from the world that the plant species found here are not found anywhere else.

One such weird-looking plant is this - looks like a UFO is stuck on a tree trunk!

It's called a rare dragon’s blood tree. Also, species of cucumber trees and pomegranate plants grow here that are not found anywhere else.

Apart from plants 90% of reptile species and 95% of its land snail species that are found on the island aren’t found anywhere else in the world.

The simple reason for this is that this island is one of the most isolated places.

About 40K people of ‘Bedouin’ culture live here.

They survive mainly by herding and fishing.

The language spoken on this island is an unwritten ‘Socotri’ language.

It isn’t written, only spoken by people.

This island is a part of Yemen.

Two French tourists, Brian Jacques Gilbert and Sebastian Francois Gabriel, were cycling from Paris to Kathmandu, Nepal. They flew to Delhi on January 7, 2025, and started their journey towards Kathmandu. Their planned route was through Pilibhit and Tanakpur, but on January 25, they decided to take a shortcut suggested by Google Maps.

The shortcut led them to a narrow road in Baheri, Bareilly, which wasn’t the correct route. Around 11 PM that night, they found themselves lost near the Churaili Dam, with no idea about where to go. They met some local villagers on the deserted road and asked for directions, but due to language barriers, it was hard for them to communicate.

The kind villagers took them to the local police outpost in Churaili, where the police officers quickly understood their situation. Realizing the tourists were just lost, the police then took them to the house of the village sarpanch (headman), who offered them a safe place to stay for the night.

The next morning, Senior Police Officer Anurag Arya visited them to make sure they were okay. After hearing their story, he made sure the police gave them clear directions for their journey ahead. The tourists were very thankful to the sarpanch, police, and villagers for their warm hospitality and kindness.

Gilbert and Gabriel resumed their journey to Kathmandu the following day with the proper directions. They said that despite the detour, their experience in Bareilly turned out to be a memorable one, filled with warmth and helpfulness from the locals.

In a similar incident in November 2024, three men lost their lives near Bareilly when Google Maps led them onto an under-construction bridge at night. The Maha Kumbh Mela, one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, is currently underway in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. This year’s event is especially significant as it is happening after 144 years, drawing crores of devotees from across the country and the world. However, the festivities took a tragic turn on Wednesday morning, 29th January 2025, when a stampede occurred during the holy bath at the Triveni Sangam, leaving 15 people dead and over 70 injured.

What Happened?
The stampede took place during the Amrit Snan or Shahi Snan, a sacred bath on Mauni Amavasya, which is considered one of the most auspicious days of the Kumbh Mela. Millions of devotees, saints, and Naga Sadhus gather on this day to take a dip in the Triveni Sangam, where the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers meet. It is believed that the water on this day turns into "Amrit" (nectar) and can wash away sins.

Due to the massive crowds, the fences and barricades set up to manage the movement of people broke, leading to chaos and a stampede. According to an eyewitness, the incident happened around 2:30 am when thousands of devotees rushed to the riverside.

Immediate Response
Ambulances were quickly sent to the location, and the injured were rushed to hospitals within the Mela premises. The Akhara Parishad, the governing body of Hindu saints and sadhus, canceled the Amrit Snan after the incident. However, devotees continued to take holy dips at other ghats in the area.

Political Reactions
The tragedy has sparked political blame games. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge criticized the Uttar Pradesh government on X (formerly Twitter), accusing it of prioritizing VIP movements over the safety of common people. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also expressed his grief, urging devotees to stay patient and follow the authorities' instructions.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is closely monitoring the situation and has been in touch with UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Yogi Adityanath, in a post on X, advised devotees to avoid the Triveni Sangam and bathe at nearby ghats instead. He also urged people to follow the administration’s guidelines and not pay attention to rumors.

Celebrities at the Maha Kumbh
Amid the spiritual fervor, the Maha Kumbh has also attracted celebrities. Chris Martin, the lead singer of the band Coldplay, visited the Mela with his girlfriend, Dakota Johnson. After performing concerts in Mumbai and Ahmedabad, Chris was seen interacting with fans in Prayagraj, even sticking his tongue out for the cameras.

What’s Next?
Despite the tragedy, the Maha Kumbh Mela continues, with millions of devotees still participating in the rituals. Authorities are working to ensure better crowd control and safety measures to prevent further incidents.

A shocking accident occurred last night in Mumbai when a BEST bus lost control and caused a major crash in Kurla (West). The incident took place around 9:30 PM near the ‘White House Building’ in Ambedkar Nagar, on a busy road. The bus, numbered 332, was travelling from Kurla station to Andheri. It was crowded with passengers when it suddenly lost control. The fast-moving bus first hit an autorickshaw, then struck several pedestrians, and finally crashed into the gates of a residential building near Anjum-E-Islam School. CCTV footage of the accident has been recorded. The crash involved around 6 autorickshaws, 10 bikes, and 10 pedestrians. Reports say that 6 people have died, and about 43 others were injured. The injured people have been taken to Sion and Kurla Bhabha Hospitals for treatment. The 43-year-old bus driver, Sanjay More, has been arrested by the police. He claimed that the accident happened because the bus’s brakes failed. The police are currently investigating his statement. Witnesses who were present at the scene described the bus swerving from side to side for about 200 meters before the crash. One person, who was heading to the railway station, heard a loud noise and rushed to the spot. He saw the bus had hit multiple people and vehicles, including an autorickshaw and three cars. He also saw some bodies at the accident site. Some reports also suggest that the bus crashed into a police vehicle. The bus involved in the accident was not owned by BEST. It was manufactured by Olectra and registered in August 2024 in the name of EVEY Trans, a private company. BEST had taken the bus on a wet lease, meaning it was rented, and the driver was supplied by the private operator. Pakistan had also placed similar drones last year. However, India has strong anti-drone defense systems, so there is no need for concern. Meanwhile, a shocking incident occurred near the Kushiyara River along the India-Bangladesh border in Assam's Sribhumi district. Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) crossed into India by boat to stop the renovation of a Hindu temple, claiming it would offend Muslims in Bangladesh. The Assam government had recently approved ₹3 lakhs for the renovation of the Manasa Temple. When the Bangladesh guards threatened the workers, India’s Border Security Force (BSF) intervened and made sure the situation did not escalate.
