According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 15 million babies are born preterm. This means one in 10 babies is born too early. A baby is considered premature at less than 37 weeks gestation.

The number of preterm babies continues to rise. The countries with the most preterm births include India, China, Nigeria, Pakistan, Indonesia, and the United States. Premature births raise concerns because these babies face an increased chance of disability.

Some of the most common disabilities and health issues include cerebral palsy, developmental delay, asthma, hearing loss, vision problems, intestinal problems, and recurrent infections.

According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, there were over 500,000 substitute teachers in 2020. These educators fill the shoes of the class's regular teacher for half a day up to several weeks. Substitutes apply to teach in a school district.

They will receive notice from the district of an opening sometimes hours before they are needed. Other times, substitutes fill in for a teacher when they are scheduled to be away.

A substitute often doesn't know which subject they may be teaching from one week to the next. They are flexible and resilient educators who provide a bridge between full-time educators and their students.

For couples experiencing the pain of infertility, adoption can be a wonderful way to become parents. However, there are many other kinds of people who adopt children each year.

Maybe they simply want to provide a home for a child in need. Or maybe a woman has a medical condition that would make it dangerous to carry a baby. Others adopt because they are single, but still wish to have children.

Possible Solutions to reduce pollution

Promote Public Transportation: Encouraging the use of public transportation and investing in its expansion can reduce the number of vehicles on the road, subsequently lowering emissions.

Transition to Cleaner Energy Sources: The government should incentivize industries and households to shift towards cleaner energy sources, such as solar power, and phase out the use of fossil fuels.

Crop Residue Management: Implementing effective agricultural practices and providing support to farmers to discourage crop burning can significantly reduce air pollution during the winter months.

Strict Enforcement of Regulations: Stricter enforcement of pollution control measures for industries and construction activities is essential to curb emissions at the source.

Raising Awareness: Educating the public about the importance of reducing individual carbon footprints, planting trees, and conserving energy can create a collective effort to combat air pollution.

World Tsunami Awareness Day

In Japan, the word Inamura-no-hi means burning of the rice sheaves. During an earthquake in 1854, a farmer saw the tide receding – a clear sign of a Tsunami coming. He then set fire to his harvested rice to make the villagers aware of the looming disaster. To honour this true story of Japan, November 5 is chosen as the day for observing World Tsunami Awareness Day.
