Illuminating Lives: Mr. Dalmia's Generous Donation of Aura Vision Glasses to
Patients with Low Vision
Bengaluru, February 1, 2025 - "Giving is not just about making a donation, it's about
making a difference." This powerful saying truly encapsulated the spirit of today's
event at Narayana Nethralaya. It was a day filled with immense pride and gratitude
for the generous contribution of Mr. Mridu Hari Dalmia, who donated 35 Aura Vision
glasses to patients with low vision.
Mr. Dalmia, an industrialist and successful businessman from the renowned Dalmia
family, is a philanthropist with a keen passion for making a difference in society. Mr.
Dalmia's contribution of Aura Vision glasses is a testament to his commitment to
enhancing the quality of life for individuals with low vision. The event was held at
Sheraton Grand at Brigade Gateway, Bengaluru, in collaboration with SHG
Technologies, and was graced by the presence of Mr. and Mrs. Dalmia, Gp Capt S. K
Mittal VSM, CEO of Narayana Nethralaya, Mr. Seetharam Muthangi, CEO of SHG
Technologies, Dr. Bhanumathi M., Head of the Department of Pediatric
Ophthalmology, and Dr. Sumitha Muthu, Consultant, Pediatric Ophthalmology at
Narayana Nethralaya. The event, as well as the recipients of the glasses, received
blessings from ISKCON temple's Shri Raghukul Nandandas Prabhuji.
Driven by deep humility and passion, Mr. M. H. Dalmia explained the powerful
essence of donation: "I have to donate-this should be the first criterion for a true act
of giving. It should be done without expecting anything in return --neither from the
past nor in the future. Living by his father's teachings-that it is more important to
spend less on oneself and more on others, which is the true purpose of a society--he
believes that those with visual impairments are gifted in many ways, but vision
remains the most critical. Hence, he actively donates toward corneal transplants
every year to give the gift of sight. His initiative of donating Aura Vision glasses is
yet another addition to his exemplary philanthropic efforts,
After the event, Mr. & Mrs. Dalmia visited Narayana Nethralaya to see the facilities
and understand about the advanced technology in eye care. For over 40 years,
Narayana Nethralaya, in addition to technical and medical expertise, has been
committed to a deeper purpose--making quality eye care accessible to all. This
philosophy was laid down by our visionary founder, Late Dr. K. Bhujang Shetty. We
have several initiatives like KIDROP, CVI treatment at our Buds to Blossoms clinic, our
charitable hospital in Tumakuru, and nationwide eye donation drives that align with
this philosophy
Medical services must evolve alongside technology to provide the best care. This is
why we actively collaborate with technology experts to bring advanced solutions to
our patients. Creating meaningful change requires like-minded individuals to come
together, and the generous donation by Mr. Dalmia is a testament to this shared
vision. His support strengthens our mission and reaffirms that compassion, when
paired with action, can truly transform lives." - Gp Capt S. K. Mittal VSM, CEO,
Narayana Nethralaya
Mr. Seetharam Muthangi, CEO of SHG Technologies, expressed his gratitude to the
esteemed dignitaries for their valuable contributions, which were instrumental in the
success of the event. He also shared his admiration for Dr. Pooja Sarbajna and the
CVI team at Narayana Nethralaya for their passion and continuous feedback, which
motivated his team at SHG Technologies to overcome the challenges and
successfully develop this complex device,
About Aura Vision glasses
Aura Vision, India's first indigenously developed Augmented Reality-powered Low
Vision Assistive Device, is a revolutionary wearable device designed to help
individuals with low vision. Low vision is a condition characterized by reduced visual
acuity that cannot be corrected with standard glasses, contact lenses, medication, or
surgery. Priced at ₹1 lakh, this device will help children and adults with low vision of
any cause to navigate, read, and visualize objects both far and near due to the
presence of multiple autofocus cameras,
With around 35 million individuals in India affected by visual impairment, there is a
pressing need for greater awareness and improved treatment options. For many,
affordability remains a significant concern, which is why this donation of Aura
Vision glasses plays a crucial role in making them accessible. Today's initiative not
only raised awareness about the Aura Vision device but also took an important step
toward making it more accessible to those who cannot afford it. It is the support of
visionaries like Mr. Dalmia that enables such transformation, empowering
individuals to lead more independent and fulfilling lives.
