At the 17th Edition of MIFF the Best Sound Design under National Category was presented to Pritam Das (Kicking Balls). She received a cash prize of Rs. 1,50,000/-, a Trophy and a certificate.

The 17th Edition of MIFF had organized a workshop by Ramprasad Sundar - a music composer, on the topic 'Scoring for short-films & documentaries'. While addressing the film-buffs he said, “Music is an inherent part of film. It’s there from the beginning to the end. So a filmmaker should not introduce music in the midst or in the post-production phase, rather it should be on board from the very beginning”

At one of the Masterclasses organized at the 17th Edition of MIFF, Prasoon Joshi a renowned poet, writer, lyricist, screenwriter discussed how words and metaphors always flow from our roots. He said, “One should not disconnect himself from his roots and reality as they have immense impact on our writing styles and help us to bring in beautiful words and metaphors.”

Addressing a masterclass on ‘Aesthetics of Sound in Cinema’ at the 17th edition of MIFF, Shri Pookutty, a leading sound designer, production mixer, sound effects, foley editor and post-production re-recording mixer said, “Sound generates the desired meaning in a film, as envisioned by the director and a Sound designer does the selective listening for audience".

The 17th Edition of MIFF had arranged for Masterclasses and one of them was by Rizwan Ahmad, Director of the Instructional Media Centre, MANUU, Hyderabad. Discussing OTT versus screen, he said
“The debate of screen versus OTT is not in the right direction. Technological developments will keep happening and it can’t be stopped. A balanced approach is what we need here. Collaborative relationship needed between screen and OTT platforms."
