Zomato, Swiggy Boost Festive Incentives as Gig Workers Stage Nationwide Strike

Food delivery majors Zomato and Swiggy have increased incentives for delivery partners ahead of New Year’s Eve, anticipating a surge in orders during the festive period—even as thousands of gig workers across India went on strike demanding better pay, social security, and improved working conditions. Zomato said the enhanced payouts announced for 31 December are part of its “standard annual operating protocol” for high-demand occasions, and not linked to the strike. The company highlighted that festive periods typically offer higher earning opportunities, with more than 23,000 partners reportedly earning over ₹1,500 on Christmas Day.

Indian Banks’ Bad Loan Ratios Seen Improving, but NBFC Risks Rise: RBI Report

Indian banks may see their gross bad loan ratio fall further from already low levels in the coming financial year, even as early signs of stress emerge among non-bank lenders, according to the Reserve Bank of India’s latest Financial Stability Report released on Wednesday. The central bank said gross bad loans could decline to 1.9% by March 2027 under its baseline scenario, compared with 2.1% at the end of September 2025, supported by resilient economic growth and strong financial system fundamentals.

COAI Flags RoW Dispute With Adani-Owned Navi Mumbai Airport Over High Telecom Charges

The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) has approached the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) alleging that Navi Mumbai International Airport Ltd (NMIAL), owned by the Adani Group, has denied Right of Way (RoW) permissions and imposed excessive charges for deploying telecom infrastructure at the newly operational airport. Commercial operations at the airport began on December 25. Ola Electric’s Roadster X+ Becomes First EV Motorcycle Certified With Indigenous 4680 Bharat Cell

Ola Electric on Tuesday announced that its flagship electric motorcycle, the Roadster X+, has received government certification powered by the company’s in-house developed 4680 Bharat Cell battery pack. In an exchange filing, the company said deliveries of the Roadster X+ (9.1 kWh) will begin soon after its approval under the Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR), 1989, by the International Centre for Automotive Technology (iCAT), Manesar. The certification marks a significant milestone, making the Roadster X+ the first electric motorcycle in India to secure approval with an indigenously developed 4680 cell-based battery system.
