Kudos to Techgentsia

It's a proud moment for everyone at Team Infopark. Techgentsia located at Infopark Cherthala, under the guidance of Joy Sebastian, has achieved a historic feat by topping the Innovation Challenge by MeitY for developing a disruptive video conferencing solution, as part of the Central Government's Aatma Nirbhar Bharat initiative.

Out of the 1900+ applicants in the ideation stage, 30 teams were nominated for further evaluation. Based on the next level of assessment, 12 were chosen for the prototype stage. In the Prototype stage, three solutions were selected for the final round. The startup will be provided financial support of Rs 1 crore with an additional Rs 10 Lakhs towards O&M for the next three years.

This accomplishment will undoubtedly fuel a new movement in Make in India initiatives across the nation. It is also a significant game-changer for the whole IT ecosystem in Kerala, and will also boost the confidence of the other satellite campuses of Infopark.

Ahmedabad-based molecular diagnostics company has become the first and reportedly only Indian startup to receive a license from the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation to manufacture RT-PCR COVID-19 test kits. A joint venture with US-based Co-Diagnostics, CoSara plans to distribute these kits to government as well as private testing labs in India and surrounding regions.

After several states and Union Territories imposed lockdown over coronavirus outbreak, PM Narendra Modi tweeted, "Many people are still not taking the lockdown seriously. Please save yourself, save your family, follow the instructions seriously." "I request state governments to ensure rules and regulations are followed," he said. Coronavirus cases have risen to 415 in India, according to ICMR.

Seven districts including capital Thiruvananthapuram in the state will completely be locked down till March 31 to check the spread of Coronavirus. The decision was announced by the Center on Sunday after Cabinet Secretary reviewed Covid-19 status with Chief Secretaries of states. Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Kottayam, Pathanamthitta, Malappuram, Kasaragod and Kannur are the districts which will be going for a shutdown from Monday.

This is probably the first time in history Kerala has postponed board exams, seen as an important event in a state that has near-universal literacy. Kochi, which had been lagging in the implementation of Smart City Mission projects, has finally improved its ranking. In the Smart City ranking published by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs on Wednesday, the city ranked 21 out of 100 cities selected under Smart Cities Mission. It was ranked 54th in September last year. The new rankings have taken into account the efforts of the Cochin Smart Mission Ltd (CSML) in implementing the projects.

Food delivery unicorns Zomato and Swiggy are now letting customers receive 'contactless' food deliveries, in order to prevent the risk of spreading coronavirus. While checking out, customers can request that the assigned delivery partner leave their order at their doorstep. The customer will receive a photo of the delivered food and can then pick up the package at their convenience.

Gurugram-based online school management platform exposed the data of over 50,000 students, their parents and teachers, found researcher Roni Suchowski. The unsecured database contains student pictures, usernames, passwords, age, religion, address, school info, date of birth and medical history. Scanned identity documents and data of some former government officials were also left exposed.

To prevent the spread of coronavirus, Amazon has recommended all its employees across the world who are able to work from home to do so through the end of March. Previously, the company had advised employees in certain outbreak hotspots, including its Seattle offices where one of its staffers tested positive, to work remotely. Amazon reportedly employs around 7,98,000 employees.

Accubits Technologies Inc, a startup based in Thiruvanthapuram, Kerala, has taken the lead, to send a low earth orbit satellite, weighing 12 kg, to space for establishing a blockchain ledger that can enable secure transactional network for financial and IoT systems.

The developers claim that they are all set to launch the world’s first blockchain satellite, called Chainsat.

The app's users have been allowed to use their existing UPI IDs, ending with , while ICICI Bank acts as the anchor bank. Amid the coronavirus outbreak, some third-party sellers on online marketplaces like Flipkart are charging about 16 times the maximum retail price (MRP) for a 30 ml bottle of hand sanitizer. Several users took to Twitter to complain about the high price, which went up to ₹999, well above the MRP. So far, there are 50 confirmed coronavirus cases in India.

To keep a check on the spread of Coronavirus, Kerala has restricted tourist movements in Kumily, Munnar and Vagamon in Idukki district. The hotels in the district have been asked not to process any new bookings.

District Collector H Dineshan has instructed the police and health department to collect details of foreign tourists staying in various resorts and homestays in Idukki.

The Health Department has asked people to adhere to advisories issued by the government. Those who have arrived from the COVID-19 affected countries should remain under home isolation.
