The Muslim general who never lost a battle. The Prophet Muhammad even gave him the title Sayf Allah, meaning the Sword of God.
The commonly known story of the 300 Spartans at Thermopylae is largely inaccurate. In 480 BC, during the Carnea festival in Sparta, they celebrated Apollo Carnaos and refrained from war to avoid angering the god and jeopardizing their food supply. King Leonidas gathered 300 of his personal guards and 5,800 troops from other Greek city-states to face the Persian threat. Contrary to the widely held belief, the Persian forces numbered between 120,000 and 300,000 soldiers, rather than the commonly cited figure of merely 10,000. The Greek defenders valiantly held their ground for a span of three days. However, their efforts were ultimately compromised by a fellow countryman named Ephialtes, who led Xerxes through a concealed mountain pass. In reality, the Battle of Thermopylae involved not just 300 individuals, but approximately 1,900 brave souls.
