Know your Artist

Niharika

Niharika is an independent solo artist from Guwahati, Assam. She is a self trained home grown artist dealing with both Indian and western vocals and music. She has been playing in and around Guwahati and the North East from the past 3 and a half years now. She specializes in mixing different sounds and genres because she isn't restricted to particular styles, have been influenced by various artists from the old classics to the new ones. She isn't an artist bound by language, she is open to multilingual music. She has played in various places in Guwahati and her demography also includes Shillong, Nagaland (2nd Mon International Trade Fair), Boroland, Sibsagar and so on. She collaborates with various other artists and is focused greatly on promoting original music. She has recently released her debut single called "Excuses" and also has a recent collab assamese single called "Mrityu", the songs are available in all music streaming platforms and an official muaic video of "Excuses" is up on youtube.

Vijay is an independent artist from Guwahati, Assam. He is a guitarist and is related with bands "Doorbin" and "Jupiter Island". Other than that he plays with a lot of other local bands and artists. He is in the Guwahati musuc scene from the last 13 years and his music is highly influenced by bands like The Beatles and Porcupine Tree. He experiments with his playing and creates sound that are very unique in nature. His band Doorbin has many originals released and are available on youtube to stream. He is a home grown musician.

UMS started off as an initiative to promote music and provide a holistic platform to all artists equally. We believe that each and every artists should get best opportunities to showcase their talent. With this promise we have finally decided on dates of our next open mic session which is on *13/12/2020, at Urban Mantra Zoo Road.*
This Open Mic session is open to all form/genres of music and art showcase where participants will be given 10-15 minutes on stage to do their best, please note that this is not a competition, rather its a networking event where participants can get a chance to perform on stage with proper sound set up, under guidance of professional artists to help with any technical hurdles, get honest review about their performance and get to network with other participants which has tuned into fruitful collaboration in past.
*Cut off registration date for upcoming Open Mic is 8th December*, all existing participants can feel free to re-register and spread the word to fellow friends who might be interested for the same.

Yes, we are finally back, you heard that right

It's almost a year since we conceptualised UMS.
our first ever Music launch event and Open mic session back in Dec 19 got us so many positive reviews and feedback that we went full throttle till March and collided with the greatest disaster of our age. Its like hitting a brick wall at full speed.

Though we are still far away from normal times but Things have started to move again and so have we decided to saddle up and work towards our vision and mission once again - to provide a holistic platform for artists and enthusiasts in Guwahati and NE India and celebrate the journey of music, art, culture and all good things on the way.

We have quite a few exciting things lined up and we can't wait to share it with you guys. But before that we need your help -

We are looking for interns who could help us with our social media handle and PR. It is going to be on demand work and not a full time thing, so even students who can squeeze in time are welcome to apply.

We will make sure to remunerate the intern as well we can, and the job also comes with perks of working on field with artists, entrepreneurs, venue partners, sponsor partners etc. Interested candidates can send us email with their CV/Resume on [email protected]
