➡️Three-time champions Chennai Super Kings' pre-season dinner turned out to be a luncheon instead during which the franchise also handed out special awards to the players, including an honour for captain MS Dhoni.
➡️Dhoni received a special award for being Chennai's highest scorer in IPL 2019 with 416 runs from 15 matches at 44.20 which also included three fifties. Dhoni led CSK to the final last year which they lost against Mumbai Indians.
CSK posted pictures from their afternoon lunch. The awards were handed out by head coach Stephen Fleming.
➡️"Our customary pre-season dinner turned into a memorable lunch this time and our Lions walked away with some Super Duper Awards. Dhoni for leading the team with the willow and scoring the most runs for the Super Kings in IPL 2019," CSK wrote.
➡️CSK debutants Sai Kishore and Piyush Chawla also got their yellow jerseys from Dhoni and Fleming.
➡️CSK meanwhile, also presented some of its players with special gifts on Thursday. All-rounder Shane Watson and Ravindra Jadeja were the ones to get specially-made mementos from the franchise.
➡️Watson got special photo frame from CSK which has his animated version playing a shot from his 2019 IPL final knock in which he batted with a bloodied knee.
➡️Jadeja on the other hand, got the replica of a golden sword with the message: "The Rajput Boy". Only Indian player to get 100+ wickets and 1900+ runs in IPL. Most wickets by any left-arm spinner in IPL - 108 wickets.

Tata Projects Limited on Wednesday won the bid to construct a new parliament building at a cost of Rs 861.90 crore, officials said.
The new building will be constructed close to the existing one under the Central Vista redevelopment project. It is expected to be completed in 21 months from the start of construction work.
However, a decision on starting the construction work has not been taken yet.
"Tata Projects Limited has won the contract to build a new parliament building at a cost of Rs 861.9 crore," an official said, adding the project cost also includes maintenance works.
L&T Ltd had submitted a bid of Rs 865 crore. But Tata Projects Ltd was the lowest bidder, officials said.
The redevelopment project of Central Vista -- the nation's power corridor -- envisages a new triangular parliament building, a common central secretariat and revamping of the 3-km-long Rajpath, from Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate.
The Central Public Works Department (CPWD), the principal agency for creation and maintenance of all government assets, said the new building will come up at plot number 118 of the Parliament House Estate.
More MPs can be accommodated in the new building as the strength of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha may increase after delimitation of constituencies. It will have spacious seating arrangements for around 1,400 MPs. The building will be a reinforced cement concrete framed structure, another official said.

➡️NDA candidate and JD(U) MP Harivansh Narayan Singh was on Monday re-elected as Rajya Sabha deputy chairman by a voice vote.
➡️This is the second time that he has been elected as the deputy chairman of the House. The opposition parties had proposed candidature of RJD MP Manoj Sinha for the post.
➡️Congratulating Harivansh Narayan Singh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that be it as a journalist or social worker, the JD(U) leader has endeared himself to many. "We have all seen the manner in which he conducts the House proceedings," PM Modi said in the Rajya Sabha.
➡️He further said, "The respect I hold for Harivansh ji, each member of the House shares. He has earned this respect. His unbiased role in the Parliament strengthens our democracy."
➡️Harivansh's name was proposed by BJP president JP Nadda. Leader of the House Thavarchand Gehlot seconded it.
➡️Earlier today, the BJD extended support to Harivansh Narayan Singh in the election for Rajya Sabha depurty chairman. JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar had called Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik on September 10 and had requested him to support Singh, a JD(U) MP who had filed his nomination on Wednesday.
➡️The BJD had in 2018 too supported Singh in the election for Rajya Sabha deputy chairman post. Singh had then defected Congresss B K Hariprasad and became the RS deputy chairman.
➡️The post, however, fell vacant after Singh's term in the Rajya Sabha expired in April, 2020.

➡️Yoshihide Suga was elected as the new head of Japan’s ruling party on Monday, virtually guaranteeing him parliamentary election as the country’s next prime minister.
➡️Suga received 377 votes in the ruling Liberal Democratic Party election to pick a successor to Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who announced last month that he would resign due to health problems. The other two contenders received a combined 157 votes.
➡️The expected victory in the party vote by Suga, currently the chief Cabinet secretary of Abe’s government, all but guarantees his election in a parliamentary vote Wednesday because of the majority held by the Liberal Democrats’ ruling coalition.
➡️Despite his low-key image as Abe’s right-hand man, Suga is actually known for his iron-fist approach to getting jobs done as a policy coordinator and influencing bureaucrats by using the centralised power of the prime minister’s office.
➡️Suga says that he is a reformist and that he has worked to achieve policies by breaking territorial barriers of bureaucracy. He has credited himself for those efforts in achieving a booming foreign tourism industry in Japan, lowering cellphone bills and bolstering agricultural exports.
➡️Compared to his political skills at home, Suga has hardly travelled overseas, and his diplomatic skills are unknown, though he is largely expected to pursue Abe’s priorities.
➡️In addition to the coronavirus and the economic fallout, Suga stands to inherit several other challenges, including China, which continues its assertive actions in the East China Sea. He also will have to decide what to do with the Tokyo Olympics, which were pushed back to next summer due to the coronavirus. And he will have to establish a good relationship with whoever wins the US presidential race.

➡️Dominic Thiem produced a historic comeback to beat
Alexander Zverev in a nervy five-setter and win the US Open on Sunday for his first Grand Slam title.
➡️The second seeded Austrian beat the fifth seed 2-6, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 7-6 (8/6) in 4 hours 2 minutes inside a near-empty Arthur Ashe Stadium.
➡️It marked the first time in the US Open's Open era history that a player had recovered from losing the opening two sets to win the title.
➡️It was also the first time the final had been settled by a tie-break.

➡️Khurrana will support UNICEF towards ending violence against children. He will work towards this initiative in India and joins the likes of former football star David Beckham, who works on this campaign globally, a press release issued on behalf of the actor said.

➡️Osaka, the fourth seed, overcame her unseeded opponent 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 in 1hr 53min inside a near-empty Arthur Ashe Stadium at Flushing Meadows.

➡️A long-pending demand to rename Hubbballi Railway Station after Sri Siddharoodha Swami has been approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs and now, the State government has to issue a gazette notification to complete the process.
➡️In a letter to the Principal Secretary, Revenue Department, Karnataka, Undersecretary to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs Lalita T. Hedaoo has that the Union government has no objection to change the name of Hubballi Railway Station as Shree Siddharoodha Swamiji Railway Station, Hubballi. She has referred to the letter of Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa of November 22, 2019 on this.
➡️The Undersecretary has said that a letter of August 7, 2020 from the Ministry of Science and Technology intimating the spelling of the new name of the railway station in Devnagri and Roman scripts has been enclosed.
➡️She has requested that the State government to now issue the required gazette notification spelling the new name accordingly in Devnagri (Hindi), Roman (English) and regional languages. The letter also has a mention of all the government agencies and offices concerned to which a copy of the gazette notification is required to be sent.
➡️Meanwhile, South Western Railway has said that once the State government issues the gazette notification, the name of the railway station would be changed accordingly.

➡️An American commercial cargo spacecraft bound for the International Space Station has been named after fallen NASA astronaut Kalpana Chawla, the first India-born woman to enter space, for her key contributions to human spaceflight.
➡️Northrop Grumman, an American global aerospace and defence technology company, announced that its next Cygnus capsule will be named the “S.S. Kalpana Chawla”, in memory of the mission specialist who died with her six crewmates aboard the space shuttle Columbia in 2003.
➡️“Today we honour Kalpana Chawla, who made history at as the first female astronaut of Indian descent. Her contributions to human spaceflight have had a lasting impact,” the company tweeted on Wednesday.
➡️“Northrop Grumman is proud to name the NG-14 Cygnus spacecraft after former astronaut Kalpana Chawla. It is the company’s tradition to name each Cygnus after an individual who has played a pivotal role in human spaceflight,” the company said on its website.
➡️“Chawla was selected in honour of her prominent place in history as the first woman of Indian descent to go to space,” it said.
➡️“While Chawla made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the space programme, her legacy lives on through her fellow astronauts and those she has inspired to follow in her footsteps,” it said.
➡️“Her final research conducted onboard Columbia helped us understand astronaut health and safety during spaceflight. Northrop Grumman is proud to celebrate the life of Kalpana Chawla and her dream of flying through the air and in space,” it said.
➡️The S S Kalpana Chawla capsule is scheduled to launch on the NG-14 mission atop a Northrop Grumman Antares rocket from the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport (MARS) at NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia on September 29. The spacecraft will arrive at and be attached to the space station two days later.

A far-right Norwegian politician has put Mr Trump's name forward for the 2021 prize, citing the president's role in the recent peace deal between Israel and the United Arab Emirates.
Christian Tybring-Gjedde told Fox News on Wednesday: "For his merit, I think he has done more trying to create peace between nations than most other peace prize nominees."
Adding that he was not a big Trump supporter, he added. "The committee should look at the facts and judge him on the facts - not on the way he behaves sometimes."

➡️Noted broadcaster and natural historian David Attenborough has been presented the Indira Gandhi Peace Prize 2019 by the Indira Gandhi Memorial Trust.
➡️Attenborough has been given the prize for "revealing the wonders of the natural world, educating and entertaining generations of people through his films and books for tirelessly working to awaken humankind to the need to preserve and protect the biodiversity on our planet, and advocating the necessity to live a sustainable and harmonious way of life, working with rather than against nature," the citation read.
➡️Speaking on the occasion on Monday, former Prime Minister and senior Congress leader Manmohan Singh underlined the importance of climate and environment in the backdrop of the current Covid-19 pandemic.
➡️"It doesn't need an epidemic to tell us that we are not in good shape. Climate change, the assault on the oceans, the pollution of the atmosphere, the junk floating about in space, the reduction of forest cover, the extinction of life in rivers, the reduction of natural habitat for any life other than humans - all this is evident to anyone," the former Prime Minister said.
➡️Congress President Sonia Gandhi, referring to late former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi after whom the prize has been named, said: "India needed to accelerate the pace of investment, and expand its economic infrastructure. But at the same time, she (Indira Gandhi) was very sensitive to the imperative of maintaining what she would often call ecological balance."
