This was pending for a long time. During our trip to Rishikesh, we chose Golden Healing Journeys Stay. Our stay was memorable not only because of the property but for the hospitality shown by everyone at Golden Healing Journeys. The food was so good that besides the breakfast we ended up having dinner on all days. The morning views from the place are extremely soothing to your eyes. If you are planning to go to Rishikesh, I will highly recommend this place.

Beatles Cafe in Rishikesh.
Beatles Cafe is a tribute to the band Beatles & comes with breathtaking views of the river Ganga. Food & beverage options are good. I recommend you to try the Infusions along with their Stir Fried Veggies & the Crepes. You can also go for the pizzas, very much a popular choice with the tourists.

Ganga View Cafe in Rishikesh
By far the best cafe in Rishikesh. Among beverages, we ordered a Shake π & a hot chocolate. Hot Chocolate was decent. I like my Hot Chocolate to be dark & thick, so across the trip I was always disappointed whenever I ordered Hot Chocolate. We ordered a bowl & a falafel wrap when it came to food. Both come in generous amounts, pretty filling.
P.S. As the name suggests, the cafe comes with a Ganga View. Sunset is the best time to visit.

Hello 2023 & folks, I am back with another series from my recent visit to Haridwar, Rishikesh & Mussorie/Landour.
Mohanji Puri Wale, was our first pitstop in Haridwar. I heard a lot about this place, & it did not disappoint. As the name suggests, the Puri Sabzi hot favourite was too good. Served with three types of sabzis/vegetables. It was the first time that after eating one plate, my stomach yearned for more. The kachori sabzi and the hot hot gulab jamun π were good too. A place definitely worth visiting.
PS. Take a dip in the Ganges, then come & eat π

artisan Cafe in New Town
I hope you have enjoyed the series so far. Do let me know if you want me to do some other food related series in the comment section.
The cafe has Greek & Santorini vibe, with white decor. Located on the rooftop, presents a view of New Town. Coming to the food, it is good & decent. The pies are worth having and the waffles, specially the savoury ones. Best time to visit is during evening hours. π

No. 6..Craft Coffee Ballygunge
Relatively new, another jewel got added to Kolkata Cafe Crown. Nestled in the green corridors of Ballygunge, the place is beautiful, huge & Instagram worthy π. But just instagram worthy is not enough.
Craft Coffee is excellent when it comes to both food & beverage. The cranberry cold brew & the brownie blend which are the best sellers are top notch. The food, Cigar Rolls, the Spicy Veg Charred Burger & the Roasted Chicken with Mushroom Jus, Tiramisu were just fabulous. While the setting & the menu is very similar to our very own Roastery Cafe, Craft Coffee rates higher on the food. Definitely looking forward to visit once again.

No. 4..8th Day Cafe & Bakery, Kolkata..
Finally visited the most popular coffee place in Kolkata in recent times. Visited the Saltlake one, which is the biggest one among all the outlets.
Ate a lot, their Bagel Sandwich is excellent, Grants Sandwich is the one with chicken & egg, you can choose the type of bagel you want. The breakfast burrito wrap was awesome too & filling. But the showstopper was the Veg. Quiche, I have been a Quiche lover throughout & their quiche was just too good π. I will again visit to have the non veg quiche. We ordered hazelnut cappuccino & mocha frappe, known more for their coffee, 8th Day did not disappoint us. It was great & went well with the food.

No. 3..Roastery Coffee House, Kolkata.
Located inside the South India Coffee Club, the place is beautiful with trees & plants all around, my favourite part is the checkboard floor tilesπ. A must visit on cold winter mornings.
I am not a coffee person, my go to drink is the Brownie Blend π The cold brews are great too. Among food, we tried Baked Stuffed Chicken & Pesto Spaghetti. We did not try the Zucchini fries, but heard it is very good & popular.

My favourite Cafes in Kolkata and around...
The first one has to be Sienna Store & Cafe. A small & quaint cafe located in the Cafe Capital of Kolkata, Hindustan Park. I love their Hot Chocolate, creamy & chocolatey. Their Mocha is great too. In the food section, my all time favorite is the Double Mutton, Bacon Cheddar Burger β₯οΈ. For veg options, you can try the Avo, Egg & Quinoa Patty Burgers too.

Another legendary place to have Biryani is Aminia π₯°π₯°
I have visited their original restaurant at Esplanade, where dining out is quite an experience. You will get to experience private dining cubicles with curtains, which itself is very exciting. Aminia's Biryani & Rezala IMO is a legendary combo. This one I ordered from Chinar Park outlet. Mutton piece is very soft & not dry, biryani has a bit of more masala & slight greasy. Nonetheless it is Aminia π

Upon return to Kolkata from Pune, I heard a lot about Kabuliwala from various sources. Along with the Biryani, their packaging deserves a special mention..Rozana Gosht Biryani is my go to, big pieces of mutton, soft and juicy π

Royal Sunday's π
Next up is Mutton Biryani from the legendary resturant of Royal. This version does not have aloo, normally it has small meat balls. The briyani is a bit greasy & spicy, however it tastes just great. IMO, to neutralize the heat, you can have it with Rezala or Rashmi Gravy.

Time for a Kolkata Biryani Series π
The first one has to be my favourite, Haan 'D' Biryani. I just love their biryani, it is tasty, not greasy, the mutton is juicy & not dry. After having a plate of Biryani, you will not feel heavy at all. By far the best biryani of Kolkata, IMO. Besides biriyani, they make excellent Shaami Kebabs both dry & gravy, & Chicken Chaap. π

Khichuri, Beguni & Labra ππ
The weather is calling for this today, it is a rainy, gloomy day with slight cold winds in Pune. And what better way to enjoy is to go back & reminisce the love of every bengali, Khichuri (Rice & Lentils mix), with some beguni (Fried Eggplant in Gram Flour) & labra(Traditional bengali mix veggies). Normally, on almost all occasions of Puja we get a taste of this. We all look eagerly to that specific day during Durga Puja when we satiate our taste buds with you know what...β₯οΈβ₯οΈ

On the occasion of EID, what better way to celebrate other than remembering the Best Sutli Kebab in Kolkata...πππ
Adam's Kebab in Phears lane needs no special mention, the beef Sutli kebab which is made from Beef Keema using a string is the best thing you can have. I remember we ordered one plate each, then looked at each other & knew that we need to repeatπ₯°π₯°. The lemon, onion & green chillies on the top makes it a killer combination, an explosion of delightful flavors in your mouth ππ..

Visiting College Street in Kolkata means I have to pay a visit to Paramount & Putiram. Paramount for the famous Dub(Coconut) Sherbet & Green mango in summer. Putiram's luchi cholar dal & alur dum β₯οΈβ₯οΈ Obviously, how can I miss the evergreen Coffee House, Mutton Afghani Cutlet ππ. While I am yet to visit the iconic Dilkhusha Cabin, I hope this December I can make it happen...

Can't survive Saturday without a Biryani β₯οΈβ₯οΈ, that too from Kolkata π₯°..
I checked my hard drive for pictures, and could only get few of my favorite ones.
1. Arsalan - Mutton Biryani...Period β₯οΈβ₯οΈ I also order Mutton Pasinda or Mutton Chaap along with the biryani, needless to say it goes extremely well with the main protagonist ππ
2. Hanglatherium - Mutton Biryani again, this one was a home delivery. The biryani is extremely well flavored, with long rice grains, juicy mutton pieces & ofcourse the aloo π₯° The best part of Hanglatherium Biryani was that my father enjoyed it a lot because of the less oil & masala, a healthier version I should say. As an accompaniment I order Chicken Pasinda, which is highly recommended.
3. Nizam's Mughal Garden, Beef Outlet - Beef biryani. Apart from having Beef biryani at Nafeel, which is too good, I will also recommend beef biryani at Nizam's Mughal Garden, the exclusive beef counter. Don't miss out on the beef roll..π―

Flurys ππ..Not a baked beans toast post..
Unlike the popular choice of baked beans on toast at Flurys, my personal favourites are Corn & Spinach Quiche π₯° & the Chilled Coffee Sprungli β₯οΈ. While the Quiche is made every day fresh from the Flurys oven, one should definitely not miss out the Coffee Sprungli, it is a must have. It is not like usual coffee based shakes & once you take the first sip you will be longing for more...π
During this visit we happened to try a few other preparations too. Don't recall the exact names, but mostly they were Grilled Fish Muniere served with Butter Garlic Sauce, Creamed Potato & Salad... Seasonal Vegetables in Garlic, Ginger & House Chilly Soya Sauce served with Garlic Fried Rice & the Three Layer Club Sandwich. All were equally good, but for me the first two items in order will be ππ...

Kochuri with Aloor Torkari, Lonkar Aachar & Chatni, Singara Ledikeni, Malpua, Jilipi
Maharaja & Maharani, the two tiffin houses situated at Deshpriya Park are often packed with people during rush hours. I personally love both of them, usually during school time we used play football at Vivekananda Park and after that visited these places often to stuff ourselves π
I am already hungry ππ

The quintessential order which is there on almost all bills at Peter Cat.The best way to beat the Monday blues & stress, how I miss you my Chelo Kebab. Many will argue that Peter Cat lost its sheen, but to me the sheer legacy & sentiment of this place bears a far more greater value..
For the vegetarians, do not be dissapointed. Mrs. Foodiesmurf is veg, & she usually orders the The Vegetable Mix Grill which is a very good option...

The reknowned Indian Restaurant @farzicafe opened up in PNW and we spent a lovely birthday dinner there this week! π₯³π @farzicafe.usa Known for Fancy Cocktails & Indian Fusion Food, it gets pretty busy even on weekdays. We loved the cocktails - a must try! ππ» Among food, we tried Mango Phuchka Tartlets, Fire Sourdough Kulcha. And ofcourse no indian meal is complete without Dal Makhni, we had Double Butter Dal Makhni with Jeera Rice. The food was delicious. ππ€€ We have been to Farzi cafe in India & indulging in their delicious menu in Bellevue was a treat again!
