Ideally, resolution can be the climax or after the end of the story. It is important as it will leave an impression with readers. It resolves the story's central arc and conflicts. Thus important to create an impactful resolution.

Readers love a story because they connect to the story's characters and if as a writer, you leave the main issue unsatisfactorily unresolved, it might not go well with the readers.

We have only one advice for climax - end your story on a high note.

Not every story works the same way but here is where the increased tension, the pace of the story is built up hooking the reader and also the central conflict is clearly evident now. The characters are thrown on a path of action and becomes intriguing to wait how they act in the climax.

Make sure there is enough tempo and the story is not unnecessarily dragged.

If it is a twist and turns story place the reveal in perfect balance and in order of increasing tension sequence.

A story must have a problem and how the character tries to solve the problem. In the end there may or may not be a solution but the character's turmoil in solving the conflict is a time tested theory of great story telling.

The conflict can be internal or external. But there must be a challenge.

Let's try to understand in detail each element. The first is the inciting event that sets the story on the wheels.

A lot of times, when I am editing, I see a very slow paced inciting event that may not hook the readers especially when it comes to new writers.

Work on your inciting event and make sure it is paced well. It is a good idea to start your story with the inciting event itself.

While this is usually easy in a mystery or investigation of murder or a thriller series, it could be a little though in romance and drama. But one thing tested through time is an exciting inciting event bring readers to your books.
