Man, as much as I control my hands to not go to the Camelot again and again, it has been my constant companion for the past two days. It feels like I just can’t get enough of this at all. After spending about 15 hours during the last three days, draining the battery of my XD05 Pro about 2 and a half times completely here are my initial impressions of this beautiful set.
Even though the shells are a bit on the bigger side, there are no issues in terms of fit and comfort. The pair provides excellent isolation as well. Camelot with a 2DD+4BA+4EST driver setup has a balanced and open sound presentation. The stage is expanded in all directions and the bass has a good reach into the sub-bass region. Mid-bass has a good body and slam, it hits precisely and has a quick decay as well. The overall tonality and texture of the bass are very well executed, The lower-end region is delicious to say the very least. Even with such a strong sub-bass presence, the overall output has a clean and majestic feel. Coming to the mid-range, the vocals and instruments sound accurate. They sound natural, and the resolution and clarity for the midrange is super clean.
On the stock cable, Avalon, the treble region is relaxed and laid-back. It has good details but the overall presentation is pretty laid back. On the stock cable, it sounds as if you can just put it into your ears and disappear for a few hours diving deeper into the music. Lancelot cable changes things, it adds energy into the treble region with the Camelot. Lancelot+Camelot is a set you can’t live without after listening to it for a few hours. It is musical, detailed, and expansive, yet sounds completely in control all the time. The soundstage size is big, massive to be accurate with my words. With the Lancelot, I hear details at the corners of my headroom.
Technically, it’s a great set, with the stock cable the minute details are not as pronounced as they are with the Lancelot. With the L+C, the combo sounds detailed, like presenting every minute detail completely effortlessly. It’s a sound my heart craves again and again lol.
Now some things are to be taken care of. First of all, Camelot on its own is a pretty solid set, but I personally feel Lancelot is a must-have accessory for this IEM. With the Lancelot, I feel the set is about two steps above its usual performance with the stock cable. But this cable upgrade itself is $1200, so the complete set is about $3700. So for people who want summit-fi level stuff, the Camelot and Lancelot combo is made for you!!
Next, I personally feel Camelot is a musical-sounding set with an excellent amount of details. Yet people who prefer bright signature might not find it perfect for their taste. And this is where their other flagship comes in place, the Tesseract. I remember hearing at the Nostalgia Booth and the detail level plus V-shape presence of Tesseract was making me teary. Maybe in the future someday will listen to it more and describe it more hahaha.
I hope you guys enjoyed reading these as my initial impressions. Believe me, I have not even started critical listening yet, these are just my thoughts after about 15 hours of listening with the set. I will listen more, and then probably come up with a final review for you guys to listen to.
