SOCIOCULTURAL ORG. 'CHETNA' ELECTS NEW EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

Port Blair, May 8/--/ Sociocultural Organization, 'Chetna', convened its General Body Meeting at the Neetika Lal’s Lal Bagh Ecofriendly Resort, Patthar Gaddha, here to elect the office bearers for its Executive Committee, and other committees.

Election of office-bearers for various posts was held under the supervision of the Monitoring Committee, presided over by Iliyas Ahamad Khan, with support and cooperation of Members namely, Govind Ram and Basudev Das.

The following office bearers were elected unanimously:

1. President: B. P. Yadav
2. Vice President: Shaikh Farooque Alam
3. Vice President: Geeta Naveen Bhatt
4. General Secretary: Dr. Renu Bala
5. Joint Secretary: K. Suma
6. Joint Secretary: Prakash Horo
7. Treasurer: Shivram Yadav

Eight members were elected Executive Committee Members as shown below:

1. Naveen Chander Das
2. Rajesh Kumar 'Nirash'
3. Rita Banerji
4. R. P. Manivasagan
5. A. Peter Raj
6. Dr. Nita Samadder

Besides, the below mentioned members were elected as members of the Monitoring Committee of Chetna, Port Blair by general consensus:

Following the elections, the President of 'Chetna', B. P. Yadav, welcomed the newly-elected members and new members who have joined 'Chetna' recently and expressed hope that with cooperation and active support of all the members, the organization will scale new heights in fulfilling its objectives and strengthening the socio-cultural ambiance in the A&N Islands.

Other members also expressed their views and the Convener of the Monitoring Committee, Iliyas Ahmad Khan, proposed the vote of thanks; said a communication received from the President of 'Chetna', Port Blair, B. P. Yadav, here this evening.

PBMC GEARS UP TO ANOINT ANOTHER QUESTIONABLE CHIEF

Accused of corruption time and again by Islanders, including members of his own Indian National Congress (INC) party, Sudeep Rai Sharma alias 'Taiya', brother of sitting Member of Parliament of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Kuldeep Rai Sharma, elected Chairperson of PBMC for the next one year

All focus will be on the Lt. Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Admiral (Retd) DK Joshi, who is the chief administrator of the Port Blair Municipal Council (PBMC) and hence ultimately responsible for whatever goes on in the civic body

WHAT MAKES ANDAMAN'S BABUS, NETAS NOT WANT TO LAUD A LOCAL ISLANDER EVEN ON BIG FEATS?

Has anyone heard/seen any IAS/IPS/DANICS/DANIPS officer of Andaman & Nicobar Administration, Keshav Chandra, Lt. Governor, Admiral (Retd) DK Joshi or even the local MP Kuldeep Rai Sharma or ANTCC or BJP's A&N Islands unit congratulating the latest youth icon from our Islands, Zohra Banu on making it to the Civil Services?

If not, the Islanders need nothing more to understand that the soulless IAS, IPS, DANICS and DANIPS officers of Andaman & Nicobar Administration and their own useless local Netas DO NOT care a hoot for the Islanders no matter what.

The only thing they care about is 'themselves'.

Such a shame.

Quite naturally, Zohra Banu's college, IIT Madras and her almamater, Ummat Public School, here have taken huge, obvious pride in patting her on the back and felicitating her.

What is it that makes these Babus and Netas so flagrantly uncivil and unashamed?
