A marathon meeting of the core committee of prominent Congress leaders from Jammu and Kashmir, was held at PCC HQ Srinagar today in which the experience of the overall working of the one year of the Congress- NC coalition came under threadbare discussion.
The elections to the four Rajya Sabha seats and by - elections to two vacant Assembly seats - Nagrota and Budgam, also came up under discussion.
All the participants freely expressed their views on the working of the coalition and the adherence to the coalition dharma by the coalition partners. A number of participants including MLAs expressed their strong views and reservations on the non-mitigation of the public issues including contentious political, administrative and developmental issues.
It was decided to convey to the central leadership the views expressed by all the members representing the sentiments of our cadres relating to the general public.
The meeting expressed dismay over the unilateral announcement of Senior coalition partner- National Conference of party's three candidates and offering a fourth seat to the Congress party, despite an assurance to the top leadership of Congress of leaving a secure seat to our party. The meeting expressed surprise as to under what circumstances or pressures the NC leadership took a U turn from their earlier commitment. It said that the said seat is not acceptable to the Congress party.
In view of the situation, it was unanimously decided not to field its candidate on the said seat.
On the issue of by-elections to the two Assembly seats of Nagrota and Budgam, the party decided to hold further deliberations with NC for final decision, soon.
Prominent those who attended included AICC General Secretary & CLP Leader G A Mir, Working President Raman Bhalla, Ex PCC President Peerzada Sayeed, Mula Ram, Ch. Lal Singh, all six MLAs and other prominent leaders from Jammu as well Kashmir.

Sewa Parv 2025 Programme at Halqa Vessu, Qazigund

Officials from multiple departments took part, including the Naib Tehsildar and the local Patwari, reflecting a shared commitment to public service. Their presence and contributions, along with those of other departmental representatives, ensured the programme’s success.

Combined efforts key to sustaining fight against TB: DC Anantnag
Felicitates Nikshay Mitras of the district
ANANTNAG, SEPTEMBER 29: As part of the National TB Elimination Programme, Deputy Commissioner (DC), who is also the chairman of the District Health Society, Anantnag, SF Hamid, today felicitated the Nikshay Mitras of the district during ‘Nikshay Mitra Meet’ organized by the Health Department under Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (PMTBMBA) at GDC Women, Anantnag.
Speaking on the occasion, DC said Anantnag was declared TB-free two years ago, and combined efforts of the administration, health authorities, and community volunteers have been key to sustaining the fight against the disease. He emphasized the need for continued awareness, regular screening and early detection, and community participation, and urged citizens to come forward and register as Nikshay Mitras to further strengthen the fight against TB.
Earlier, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Dr. Khalid Parvez, provided an overview of the various initiatives undertaken by the Health Department for TB elimination in the district. He credited the dedication of health workers and community support for sustaining the TB-free status.
Among those present were the Principal of the college, ACD, District Tuberculosis Officer, Secretary District Red Cross Society, faculty of the college, health professionals, and other stakeholders, who reaffirmed their commitment for the fight against TB.

Sewa Parv-2025: Multiple theme-based events mark first week of campaign in Anantnag

ANANTNAG, SEPTEMBER 2025: To promote the spirit of service, community participation and inclusive governance, the first week of Sewa Parv 2025 campaign witnessed multiple and vibrant theme-based events by line departments across district Anantnag.

Departments of Education, Higher Education, Health, Rural Development, Social Welfare, Youth Services & Sports, Revenue, Horticulture, Agriculture, Forest, Development Authorities, among others, have been at the forefront, conducting activities in tune with the objectives of the campaign.

Pledges, cleanliness, book donation and plantation drives, digital literacy, service delivery and pendency clearance/grievance redressal camps, and community sensitisation sessions on BBBP scheme, NMBA, Poshan Abhiyaan, TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan and SNSP Abhiyaan have featured in the campaign.

Public awareness programs about various government initiatives including revenue services, financial inclusion and social security schemes, distribution of sanction letters under Horticulture, Agriculture and Social Welfare Schemes were also held.

Students actively participated in debate, painting, essay writing and poster making competitions on the themes of public service and nation-building. Athletes participated in a broad array of sports activities including volleyball, cycling, long-distance races on the themes of Run for Unity and Sewa Run, yoga, carrom and chess.

It was informed that 519 Domicile, 182 Income, 80 Agriculturist and 26 Unemployment Certificates have been issued while 505 Mutations were attested by the Revenue department during the campaign so far.

Health department has conducted 108 camps under Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan and TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan at different locations involving comprehensive health check-ups for women and screening for TB. Similarly, the ICDS department in collaboration with other departments conducted Poshan Abhiyaan activities at all AWCs of the district.

RDD, ULB and other departments have conducted extensive cleanliness drives in all Panchayats, markets and public areas of the district.

On Thursday, Kisan Melas were organised by the Agriculture department at Mattan, Dooru and Anantnag witnessing participation from officers, farmers, representatives of FPOs and SHGs and other stakeholders.

At Mattan, officers from Agriculture imparted awareness to the farmers and growers about scientific and sustainable farming practices. Besides, stalls showcasing government schemes and initiatives were set up by Agriculture, Revenue, RD, Banks, Social Welfare, Poshan and other departments. Certificates sanction letters and BBBP kits were issued to the beneficiaries during the Mela.

Department of YSS organized a district level Cycling Race which started from Sarnal Dadat and concluded at TikBagh Mattan after covering a distance of about 7 Km. The event witnessed participation of about 340 students and athletes who cycled with zeal amid loud cheers.

RDD organised special cleanliness drives on ‘Ek Din Ek Ghanta Ek Sath’ theme wherein the officials and citizens joined for promoting cleanliness and hygiene across the district.

The campaign will continue till 2nd October, with many more activities lined up this week.
