Modi wants to kill Jio
๐ After being almost lifeless for almost a decade, BSNL is now coming back to life. And the PSU has an ambitious plan. It wants to take the battle to Indiaโs telecom giants Airtel and Jio, and give them a run for their money.
๐ Whatโs BSNLโs plan:
1๏ธโฃ BSNL plans to launch 4G services within a few months and attract customers with cheaper plans than competitors.
2๏ธโฃ BSNL aims to upgrade its 4G base stations and start 5G rollout in 2025.
3๏ธโฃ Attract subscribers from Airtel, jio and VI and capture a 20% market share.
4๏ธโฃ Script a complete turnaround and become profitable by 2027.
๐ก But Why does the Government want to revive BSNL?
The government is throwing โน3.2 lakh crores of taxpayersโ money to revive an inefficient PSU because BSNL has some benefits of its own. Unlike private players that provide services in economically viable areas, BSNL will cover every part of the country. BSNL is the only telecom provider in sensitive areas where private players are not allowed. With BSNL, the Government wants to create a counterweight to the duopoly of Airtel and Jio.

โ๏ธ Noida vs Navi Mumbai - The Battle of Airports โ๏ธ
๐ Delhi NCR and Mumbai MR are the first two metropolises of India that will get their 2nd airports. This milestone will add these two metros to an exclusive list. Both airports have a similar size of 7200 acres and will handle more than 6 crore passengers a year. But, the progress of both airports is telling a completely different story.
๐ซ Navi Mumbai Airport
The airport was first proposed in the 1990s, approved in 2010, foundation stone was laid in 2018. The airport was expected to start operations by 2024. However, a long list of issues prevented this. As per the latest estimates, the airport will start operations in mid-2025.
๐ฌ Noida Airport
The airport was first proposed in 2001, approved in 2018, foundation stone was laid in 2020. By October 2024, this airport will start operation including international flights. All these happened even after the airport's city was changed twice. When Noida Airport was approved, the foundation of Navi Mumbai was already laid. Noida Airport has already got its IATA code 'DXN' and signed MoUs with Indigo and Akasa. By the time, Navi Mumbai starts its operations, Noida Airport will carry 6 million passengers.

How India defeated China in stock market?
โ๏ธ In 2020, China's weightage on the MSCI index was 5x that of India's. Since then, China's weightage has gone down and India's weightage has doubled. Experts believe India will overtake China in 2024 and become the market with the highest weightage in the MSCI index. This trend also signifies how global smart money is dumping China and pumping India.
๐จ๐ณ What's wrong with China
1๏ธโฃ Chinese indices have lost 18% - 40% in the last 3 years.
2๏ธโฃ The market capitalisation of the Chinese stock market has gone down by $4 trillion since 2021.
3๏ธโฃ China has registered the lowest FDI in 30 years and global money is moving out of China at a record level.
4๏ธโฃ Things have become so bad that Chinese investors are commenting on the US Embassy's social media page to help them and free them from China.
๐ฎ๐ณ What's right with India:
1๏ธโฃ Since 2021, India benchmark indices have gone up 50%.
2๏ธโฃ India has recently crossed Hong Kong as the 4th biggest stock market based on Stock market capitalisation.
3๏ธโฃ Indian bonds have been included in the emerging bond index. For every $1 going out of the Chinese bond market, 50 cents is coming to India.
4๏ธโฃ Hedge funds and AMCs are making India their prime bet and some of them are exploring M&A opportunities in India.
5๏ธโฃ 1 out of every 5 Wall Street fund managers is bullish on India. Even traditionally conservative Japanese retail investors are investing in India.
๐ค Can India beat China in the stock market game?
๐ฎ๐ณ Bharat Mart - India's big export push ๐ฎ๐ณ
๐ช During his recent visit to the Middle East, PM Modi laid the foundation of Bharat Mart. It is part of India's renewed push to promote Indian Exports in the Middle East. India is modelling Bharat Mart on China's Dragon Mart in Dubai. India plans to capitalise on pessimism towards China and promote Indian exports.
๐ก All about Bharat Mart
1๏ธโฃ Bharat Mart is a dedicated retail and warehouse space for Indian traders to showcase their products in the Middle East.
2๏ธโฃ The Retail space will allow traders their product to sell products directly, while the warehousing space will allow traders to stock their products.
3๏ธโฃ Apart from this, Bharat Mart will also have a digital portal to allow customers to order from anywhere in the world.
4๏ธโฃ As this will be located in the Jebel Ali Free Zone, low and zero taxes will make products cheaper for customers.

๐จ Big trouble for Mumbai Airport? ๐จ
โ India's 2nd busiest airport, Mumbai Airport, is asked by the Government to reduce the number of flights. This has led to the cancellation of around 40 flights every day, which is around 4 - 4.5% of total flights from Mumbai Airport. This may result in increasing airfare in the short term.
๐ค But, Why did the Government order this?
Mumbai Airport is the busiest single-runway airport in the world. It is handling 900 - 1000 flights every day, which is above its capacity. Mumbai Airport handles take-off or landing every 100 seconds. It has led to flights taking holding patterns for 40 - 60 minutes. Airlines are burning โน1.8 - โน2.4 lakhs of aviation fuel in each flight. This has severely impacted the on-time performance of the airport.
โ๏ธ Why this delay?
Mumbai Airport is highly congested. India is the fastest-growing aviation market. India's air traffic is increasing rapidly. But, Mumbai Airport has already reached its limits. It has two runways, but the runways intersect each other. So, at any given time, only one runway is operational. IGI Airport of Delhi which is comparable to Mumbai in terms of numbers of passengers, has 4 runways. Moreover, the delay in Navi Mumbai Airport is making things worse for Mumbai Airport.

๐ค Modi benefited from Adaniโs stock price rise ๐ค
๐ The last few weeks have been great for the Adani group. The state election results, the Supreme Court of Indiaโs observation and the US Governmentโs stand for Adani have helped Adani group stocks rise significantly. And the man who benefited the most from this is Narendra Modi.
๐ When the Modi Government decided to list LIC, there was an uproar about the Governmentโs intention to sell LIC. These accusations only increased after the Hindenburg Report. Some people said, all the money from LIC will be lost because of Adani. But things have changed!
๐ก But How?
LIC has invested โน30,127 crores in 7 Adani stocks, which is a small number out of LICโs portfolio of 270+ stocks. At the time of recording this reel, LICโs stake in Adani group is valued at โน59,475 crores, which is a 97% gain on the initial investment.

๐งณWhy countries are making visa-free for Indians?๐งณ
โ๏ธ In the last few weeks, as many as 7 countries have removed visa requirements from Indians. More countries are planning to remove visa requirements and make the easier for Indians. As the number of Chinese foreign tourists is decreasing. And Indian tourists are filling this void.
๐ก Here are some numbers:
1๏ธโฃ The number of Indians making foreign trips is increasing rapidly. The numbers have increased by 20 - 30% in just this year.
2๏ธโฃ 1.3 crore Indians crores went on a foreign trip in 2022. The number is expected to increase to 8 crores.
3๏ธโฃ Indians are the 4th biggest spenders in foreign travel. Indians spent $27 billion in 2019.
๐ Whatโs behind these recent changes:
India is the fastest-growing major economy in the world. The number of middle-class people in India increasing. The disposable income is also increasing. This is leading to a huge increase in the foreign travel by Indians. And countries want to cash in on this trend. Thatโs why they have removed visa requirements or made it easier for Indians.

๐ฌ Noida Airportโs plane to defeat Delhiโs IGI Airport ๐ฌ
๐ซ Delhi NCRโs newest airport Noida International Airport will be opened to passengers in 2024. Even before, the airport started functioning, it had already created massive competition for Delhiโs IGI Airport.
โ๏ธ Noida International Airport has revised its passenger estimate for the first year from 4.1 million to 6.5 million. This will be 10% of Delhiโs IGI Airport, the biggest and busiest in India. Noida Airport will achieve this feat with 1 runway and 1 terminal.
๐ก Why Noida Airport is so optimistic?
Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) is a major expense for the airlines. In January 2022, the Yogi government slashed VAT on ATF to 1%. This made the ATF in UP the cheapest in India. This will lead to more airlines opting for Noida Airport. Airlines will pass on this benefit to the passengers in terms of cheaper tickets. Itโs a win-win for the Airport, Airlines and Passengers.
