|| Chief Minister's stern warning to those involved in arson and unlawful activities:

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh on Saturday issued a stern warning to individuals and organizations involved in arson and other unlawful activities and urging them to refrain in future. At a press Conference held at Chief Minister Secretariat in Imphal, Biren Singh said the primary duty of government is to protect properties and life of the state.

The Chief Minister said those involved in burning the DC and SP office and threatening of top officials in Churachandpur will not be spared. He said, in connection with the armed looting case in Chingarel and MPTS Impal East, seven police personnel has been suspended and thorough investigation is going on.

A Press Release was issued on 7th of November,2003 by six student organizations of Manipur concerning the missing of two young boys and launching a special operation against the Kuki militants to root out them from the soil of Manipur.The main objective is to prevent from happening such untoward incidents in the future.
The six student bodies,AMSU,MSF,DESAM,KSA,SUK and AIMS have exerted pressure on the government for launching a special operation to flush out the Kuki militants indulging in terrorism so as to ensure peace and normalcy in Manipur. The act of terrorism against the civilians and students by SoO Kuki militant groups is highly condemned.Rule of law should be maintained to protect the people, the six student bodies added.

The student bodies questioned why the central government is hesitant to abrogate the SoO agreement signed with Kuki outfits in spite of the latter violating the agreed ground rules.

In Kangpokpi district where there are over 800 cadres of Kuki militant groups under SoO, people are facing frequent threats and intimidation.

So, to thwart such terrorist acts and flush out the militants, a special operation similar to the one currently on in Moreh should be launched in Kangpokpi.

The government should also revoke the SoO agreement with the Kuki militant groups for violating ground rules if peace and normalcy is to be restored in the state, the release is maintained.

Cabinet announces Rs 50 lakh ex-gratia, Govt job for kin of Anand Kumar

Imphal (DIPR): An emergency meeting of the Cabinet was held on Tuesday at the Chief Minister’s Office. The meeting deliberated upon the emergent law and order situation arising in the State in the aftermath of the killing of Chingtham Anand Kumar, MPS, SDPO, Moreh.

The Cabinet noted that both sides of the ethnic conflict had been exercising restraint and peace has been maintained for the past one-and-half to two months.

While a sense of normalcy was slowly settling in, an MPS officer Chingtham Anand Kumar, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Moreh, a resident of Haobam Marak Chingtham Leikai, Imphal has been killed today in unprovoked firing by armed Kuki militants while he was on duty overseeing the cleaning of the grounds of Eastern Shine School for construction of helipad, jointly by State force and BSF. The Cabinet condemned the dastardly act in the strongest terms.

Three Myanmarese nationals were apprehended by a team of Special Commando, Manipur Police while conducting foot patrolling in and around Moreh town around 9 am today.

On verification, they identified themselves as:

1. Khamkhenthang Guite ,25, son of Paochinlen Guite of Namphalong Sawbua II, Myanmar.

2. Aung Mae ,30, son of Mae Aao of Tamu Sawbua X, Myanmar.

3. Aung Aung ,25, son of Uoo Mao Mao of Tamu Sawbua XI, Myanmar.

The trio is suspected of stealing furniture items/electric generators from the houses which were burnt down during the recent clashes. They were handed over to the Moreh Police Station for thorough verification.

This happened when some particular organizations were objecting and protesting against the deployment of state police and commandos at Moreh town.

It is apparent that these organizations do not want the presence of state forces in Moreh so that many of these Myanmarese can be brought into the country. The state government cannot keep silent on such an alarming issue of illegal migration.

Mizoram Police on Wednesday seized Crystal M**h weighing approximately 10.4 kilograms worth around ₹31 crore in the international drug market at Lengpui Airport.

The contraband was discovered during security screening at Lengpui airport, where an INDIGO security X-ray baggage inspection system detected suspicious packages in a suitcase. One Myanmar national woman was apprehended who was attempting to transport the illicit substance from Myanmar to Delhi.

Senior_cop called back to Manipur after fresh violence hits State.

New Delhi (Agency): As Manipur continues to battle a fresh round of violence, the Union Home Ministry today repatriated top Srinagar police official Rakesh Balwal to the northeastern state.

Fresh violence erupted in Manipur this week over the brutal killings of two students, one of whom was a minor, who went missing in July.

Mr Balwal, a 2012-batch IPS officer, is of Manipur cadre posted in Jammu and Kashmir. Centre has ordered Mr Balwal's premature repatriation to send him to the northeastern state that has been gripped with violence since May this year.

According to an order by Deputy Secretary to the Government of India, Mr Balwal, IPS (MA- 2012) has been repatriated from AGMUT to Manipur cadre.

The order, a copy of which lies with GNS, has been passed following the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The approval has been granted by the Appointments committee of the Cabinet, almost month after the proposal by the MHA.

Violent protests in Manipur over the death of the two students continued into the early hours of today, with a mob vandalising the deputy commissioner's office in Imphal West and torching two four-wheelers.

Protesters and security forces clashed in Uripok, Yaiskul, Sagolband, and Tera last night, forcing security personnel to fire multiple rounds of tear gas shells to disperse the crowd.

On Tuesday, photos emerged on social media showing the bodies of two students who went missing in July. The two students, Phijam Hemjit (20) and Hijam Linthoingambi (17), were photographed sitting at a makeshift jungle camp belonging to an armed group.
