The number of addicts in the beautiful hills is increasing day by day and is common, especially among the school-going children. Tea garden areas are most vulnerable in this regard because the peddlers establish their contacts and supply from this area where they are far from police surveillance.
The youths seeking recovery advice as an outpatient visitor is at greater risk of relapsing because online advice cannot always work in case of a person who uses drugs at a higher rate. Darjeeling people fear even to take the name drugs it is considered taboo. People are not very comfortable to talk about their children becoming addicts. Recently the government has opened various helpline numbers for any mental health problems and for the people with substance abuse.
The question is what can we do to help drug users in Darjeeling who needs help? When there is continuous talk about migrants suffering in Covid19 when we are discussing mental health issues we are leaving behind a very significant issue that is of Covid19 implications on drug addicts. It is a duty of government to consider this issue as a very prominent one and the government has to work in collaboration with active Ngo’s to help the youths seeking advice for de-addiction and for those who are facing withdrawal symptoms.

To stay in home and Exercise is real athlete in today's time,Yes everyone is bored of staying inside but it doesn't mean we start organising events outside.Today every single person wants to go outside with various reasons but real athlete is one who not only cares for himself but also for everyone. So to all my darjeelingays please stay home for others, remember even Olympics is postponed due to covid 19 so this is not really a time to organise events outisde?

Roads of Darjeeling are pathetic these days,Why life of Darjeeling roads are max 2 to 3 years even with mostly light vechiles movement but why roads in ladakh,Manali or north Sikkim remains intact even when heavy vechiles of army ply most.If we are really situated in chicken neck region then shouldn't our roads should be handed over to Defence road organisations like BRO for national security and better roads.

As we all know the COVID-19 pandemic has completely changed our lives. Take something as fundamental as our experiences of space: our mobility has become severely restricted – reduced to jogs or walks a few kilometres around our homes. Perhaps less obviously, the lockdown has also affected our experiences. Due to this 2 main industries of darjeeling , TEA and TOURISM are badly hit and have no sign of recovery with no support from any government or administration. For last 10 years growth of tourist flow is very low,no new tourist spots have come up and the one which have come up are not recommended or visited by tourist.Might be proper recce or advice was not taken from expertise of tourism field while selecting the areas,on one side department collect taxes and with same collected money makes tourist lodges and resort to run which becomes competition for homestays and hotels. Crores are wasted to construct this properties and later given in very less amount for lease, all this won't stop unless tourism industry becomes game changer during elections. Darjeeling which should be promoted as ALL SEASON TOURIST DESTINATION has become 90 days seasons destination, ask to any hotelier when they give hotel in lease, they are only paid for 90 days of total room. Our national parks and wildlife sanctuary are closed during monsoon where as Kanchenjunga national park in Sikkim which is also UNESCO world heritage are open for entire year. Nocs are not given in Tea garden for people who are interested in homestays, So many issues in tourism sector which needs no funds to rectify it and still nothing was done, I feel that people of Darjeeling should ask for separate autonomous body just for tourism. A separate autonomous tourism body under state who will look after tourism industry. How can a industry like tourism can be under a administration which generate almost 3 times more revenue yearly then yearly budget of current administration.Something like cricket where BCCI is autonomous body running cricket so nicely,I wonder what would have happen conditions of cricket if sports ministry have run it directly.Just a thought guys,we have seen where tourism of Darjeeling is today under administration, now why not give a chance this way too.If separate boards can be made for every caste then why not for industries.

Imagine you were born in 1900.

‌When you're 14, World War I begins and ends when you're 18 with 22 million dead.

‌Soon after a global pandemic, the Spanish Flu, appears, killing 50 million people. And you're alive and 20 years old.

‌When you're 29 you survive the global economic crisis that started with the collapse of the New York Stock Exchange, causing inflation, unemployment and famine.

‌When you're 33 years old the n***s come to power.

‌When you're 39, World War II begins and ends when you're 45 years old with a 60 million dead. In the Holocaust 6 million Jews die.

‌When you're 52, the Korean War begins.
‌When you're 64, the Vietnam War begins and ends when you're 75.

‌A child born in 1985/1990 thinks his grandparents have no idea how difficult life is, but they have survived several wars and catastrophes.

‌Today we have all the comforts in a new world, amid a new pandemic. But we complain because we need to wear masks. We complain because we must stay confined to our homes where we have food, electricity, running water, wifi, even Netflix! None of that existed back in the day. But humanity survived those circumstances and never lost their joy of living.

‌A small change in our perspective can generate miracles. We should be thankful that we are alive. We should do everything we need to do to protect and help each other.
