Govt announces Summer vacations for Degree Colleges in J&K

The Higher Education Department of the Jammu and Kashmir Government today announced summer vacations for the degree colleges of the UT.

As per the govt order, “the colleges in the summer zone of the Jammu division will observe a 45 days’ break beginning June 1, 2025 while as the colleges falling in the winter zone of the Jammu division.

The Kashmir division will observe a nine days’ break beginning July 15, 2025.

Schools to reopen in Kashmir tomorrow except Kupwara, Baramulla and Gurez: DSEK

Authorities on Monday announced reopening of schools in Kashmir Valley except those in Baramulla and Kupwara districts as well as Bandipora’s Gurez.

The Director of School Education made announced, according to GNS and said that schools will reopen on May 13 except in border districts Kupwara and Baramulla, and Gurez sub-division in Bandipora district.

Earlier, Government had ordered closure of all colleges and schools closed till 12th May due to prevailing situation.(GNS)

Srinagar, May 12 (KNO): Flight operations at Srinagar international airport along with 31 others that were closed after tensions between India and Pakistan, will resume from today, officials said. Speaking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a senior official said they have received the green signal to resumes operations. “We are hopeful that flight operations will be operational from today. The green signal has been given to us,” he said. Flight services were suspended at 32 airports, including Srinagar airport after India launched Operation Sindoor to target terror camps in Pakistan in response to Pahalgam attack that claimed 26 lives in April 21—(KNO)

After UXO clearance, border dwellers permitted to return home in 6 villages
Police caution residents as UXOs remain undisposed in 11 villages

Baramulla, May 12 (KNO): The district administration of Baramulla has permitted the return of evacuees to six villages after the safe disposal of unexploded ordnances (UXOs) in Uri sector of Baramulla. Officials informed the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that 7 UXOs have been successfully neutralized in the villages of Kamalkote, Madhan, Gowhallan, Salamabad (Bijhama), Gangerhill, and Gawalta. The clearance comes after sustained efforts by security agencies to sanitize the region following recent escalations along the Line of Control. “Evacuees from these six villages can now return to their homes. The decision was taken after confirmation of safe disposal of detected UXOs,” said a Police spokesperson. However, authorities have cautioned that more UXOs may still be present and undiscovered in these and other areas. A total of 20 UXOs were initially reported across 17 locations in the district. Meanwhile, the residents have been strongly advised to avoid touching or approaching any suspicious objects and to report them immediately to the Baramulla Police or nearest security personnel. Meanwhile, Baramulla Police has issued a public safety advisory, underscoring the grave risk UXOs pose to life and property, urging continued vigilance.
