*Police arrests 03 gamblers in Handwara, stake money seized*


Srinagar June 01(KNS): Acting tough against social crimes, Police have arrested 03 gamblers in Handwara and seized stake money from their possession.

A police party of Police Post Chogul while on patrolling near Gund Chogul apprehended 03 gamblers. They have been identified as Javid Ahmad Khan son of Gh Mohammad resident of Galoora, Gh Nabi Malik son of Gh Mohidin and Mudasir Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Subhan, both residents of Gund Chogul. Police have seized stake money of ?4810/- and playing cards from the gamblers. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 120/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Handwara and investigation has been taken up.



People found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.(KNS)

*DGP visits Police Training School Manigam*


Srinagar, May 31(KNS): Director General of Police Jammu and Kashmir Dilbag Singh visited Police Training School, Manigam Wednesday where he inaugurated Multi Activity Block for the trainees.

He was accompanied by ADGP Armed J&K S J M Gillani, ADGP Kashmir Zone Shri Vijay Kumar, DIG CKR Sujit Kumar, DIG Training PHQ Imtiaz Ismail Parray and AIG Training & Policy PHQ J. S. Johar,.

He was received by Principal Police Training School Manigam Showkat Hussain Shah, SSP Ganderbal Nikhil Borkar, CO RR 34 Col. Kulbhushan Singh and was presented a Guard of Honour on his arrival.

On his arrival the DGP inaugurated Multi Activity Block wherein various facilities like Moot Court, CCTNS Lab and Smart Classes will be available for the trainees. On the occasion, the Indoor faculty of PTS demonstrated a live trial of NDPS case in the Moot Court identifying the lacunas during the course of Investigation.

DGP while appreciating the efforts of PTS hoped that the I.Os during their mock trials in the Moot Court would not only learn the etiquettes of the court but the process shall also boost their morale and rectify their lacunas during their investigation. He further said that CCTNS Lab will further augment the police investigation of crime and criminal tracking network.


Later DGP also witnessed a demonstration parade where in some innovative drill techniques were exhibited by the Contingents. The drills like Korean, Russian drills, Camouflage and entertainment parade were presented first time by J&K Police contingents.

Addressing the trainees & staff, the DGP appreciated the Principal and his staff for imparting excellent training modules to the trainees. He lauded the trainees for displaying and performing demonstration parades despite rain. He said that more training capsules need to be introduced especially for investigating officers and added that the Training Section of PHQ and Principal of the institution will work out on new ideas to implement new training capsules soon.

‘Police Training institutes are like mini Jammu and Kashmir as personnel from all parts of the UT get assembled to get training’, DGP said. He informed that training of candidates selected for Women Battalions has started in Jammu and training of Border Battalions candidates will begin very soon. He said Jammu and Kashmir Police is a big professional & competent force and to maintain its quality and proficiency, all of us have to work hard.

DGP appreciated the efforts of the Principal PTS Manigam Showkat Hussain Shah for his endeavours and initiative during his tenure in the Institution.(KNS).

Srinagar, May 31(KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday said that it solved a murder case within 24 hours by arresting the accused in the Batamaloo area of central Kashmir's Srinagar city.

A police spokesperson in a statement issued to the Kashmir News Service (KNS), said that during the investigation of case F I R no 67/2023 u/s 302 RPC of p/s Batamaloo one accused identified as Ayan Majid Matoo s/o Abdul Majid Matoo r/o Moominabad Batmaloo arrested in said case intervening night' of 30/31-05-2023 and was declared who is actual accused of the said case.

The police said that it is found that the accused is actually affair with daughter of deceased , yesterday the accused meet with deceased person and tell I am loving with your daughter and i will marry with him, Father of the girl rash on his words and abused him that on the accused person decontrolled and attacked to deceased by sharp weapon Knife, who stabbed him on his body , upper chest and left side neck and who brought dead on spot.

DC Budgam calls for aggressive awareness, screening for Measles- Rubella Elimination

Stresses on coordinated efforts for reduction as well as elimination of disease in Budgam

Budgam, May 29: The Deputy Commissioner (DC), Budgam Akshay Labroo (IAS) today chaired District Level Task Force meeting on Measles-Rubella Elimination in the district.
At the outset, the DC stressed on carrying out massive awareness and screening of the target group across the district to not only contain the spread of disease but also its Elimination from the district.
He hoped that the health functionaries along with ICDS functionaries, Anganwari workers & School teachers through Chief Education Officer, Budgam shall put coordinated efforts to make the district Measles-Rubella free in a similar way work was done in making the district TB free in 2021.
DC also highlighted the importance of generating awareness regarding preventive measures of Measles-Rubella disease, and asked the concerned to identify the target groups, conduct surveys and ensure that all the children receive MR vaccine across the district.
Among others, Additional District Development Commissioner, Dr Akramullah Tak, CMO, CEO, Dy. CMO and other concerned attended the meeting.

*Dir Horticulture, Agriculture visit hailstorm affected parts of north Kashmir to ascertain losses*

Kupwara May 26 (KNS): Promptly responding to the situation arose due to hailstorm, Director Horticulture and Director Agriculture on Friday visited north Kashmir villages to assess losses.

The officers during their visit addressed the concerns of farmers and orchardists and urged them to adhere to advisories issued by the department amid unfavorable weather.

Director Horticulture Kashmir, Ghulam Rasool Mir and Director Agriculture Kashmir, Mohammad Iqbal Chowdhary visited several villages of north Kashmir which includes Kupwara, Handwara, Langate, and Rafiabad and ascertained the post-hailstorm situation.
“I along with my officers paid visit to several villages of Kupwara where the recent hailstorm has wrecked havoc and caused severe damages to orchardists,” Director Horticulture Ghulam Rasool Mir told KNS.

He admitted that in Trehgam hamlet of Kupwara the orchardists have suffered 70 percent damage while as in Handwara villages the damage is less than Kupwara.

“The purpose of the visit is to assess the losses orchards have suffered and provide them on spot directions to the farmers to remain alert in day to come,” he said and directed field officers to educate farmers how to minimize losses and follow the spray of chemicals as per the schedule issued by the department.

Meanwhile Director Agriculture Kashmir, Mohammad Iqbal Chowdhary told KNS that the aim of the visit is to ensure efforts that will compensate losses that farmers suffered in yesterday’s hailstorm.

“In a unified effort to address the crisis, all District Heads and Field Officers have been directed to visit the affected areas to ascertain the damage so that immediate support to affected farmers can be rendered through available possible ways,” Director Agriculture Kashmir said. (KNS)

*Principal Secretary I&C unveils first edition of compendium of entrepreneurship-related schemes by JKEDI*


Srinagar, May 26(KNS): Principal Secretary, Department of Industries and Commerce, J&K Government today released the first edition of a compendium of entrepreneurship and employment related schemes compiled by Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) for the benefit of the youth of J&K.


The compilation of the compendium of schemes by the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) showcases the Government's commitment to fostering an enabling environment for entrepreneurial growth and employment opportunities in the region. This compendium will serve as a valuable resource for aspiring entrepreneurs and young individuals seeking information and support to start their own businesses or find employment.

“The dissemination of information regarding various employment and entrepreneurship related initiatives undertaken by the UT Government is necessary to sensitize the educated unemployed youth for setting up of viable business ventures and will prove to be a guiding source for existing as well as potential entrepreneurs,” said Prashant Goyal (IAS), Principal Secretary, Department of Industries and Commerce, J&K Government.

The compendium includes a comprehensive collection of various schemes, initiatives, and programs implemented by the government to promote entrepreneurship and generate employment opportunities. It may provide details about eligibility criteria, financial assistance, training programs and other support mechanisms available for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.

“The startup environment is booming globally, and many successful businesses are being built, setting industry standards of their own and propelling the industry forward. This compendium, though a small step can facilitate the beginning of a flourishing entrepreneurial career,” said Ajaz Ahmad Bhat (IAS), Director, JKEDI. “Under the leadership of Hon’ble L G, J&K, Shri Manoj Sinha and Chief Secretary, J&K, the Institute aims to empower and encourage the youth to explore entrepreneurial ventures, which can lead to economic growth, job creation, and overall development in the region,” he further added.

This compendium highlights the Government's focus on fostering a culture of innovation, self-employment, and sustainable economic development. It will play a crucial role in disseminating information and creating awareness among the youth about the various schemes and opportunities available to them.(KNS).

Srinagar, May 26 (KNS): Amid boycott call from opposition to participate in the inauguration ceremony of the new parliament building by PM Modi in May 28, National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah on Friday was in all praise for the new building after its first look video was released.


Taking to Twitter, Omar Abdullah, as per Kashmir News Service (KNS) said that the new building is a welcome addition and look "pretty damn impressive".

He said that the old Parliament House has served "us well but as someone who has worked there for a few years, a lot of us often spoke amongst ourselves about the need for a new & improved parliament building."

"Setting aside the brouhaha about the inauguration for a moment, this building is a welcome addition. The old Parliament House has served us well but as someone who has worked there for a few years, a lot of us often spoke amongst ourselves about the need for a new & improved parliament building. Better late than never is all I'll say & this one looks pretty damn impressive," he tweeted.

Chief Horticulture officer Budgam visits several areas of Budgam in connection with recent rains .

Budgam, May,26:Chief Horticulture Officer Budgam Dr. M Iqbal Baba today visited several hailstorm hit areas in Kremshore and Khansahib to assess the crop damage.
During his visit the Officer inspected the Apple Orchards and interacted with Orchardists and assured them that Horticulture Department is with them. The Chief Horticulture Officer Budgam was accompanied by other officers and experts of the department. Awareness was provided to the Orchardists regarding the precautions and sprays to be done in the Orchards affected due to hailstorm. Chief Horticulture Officer had framed four teams which were assessing the extent of damage in other areas of Budgam District one amongst these was from Directorate of Horticulture Kashmir.
Later, the Chief Horticulture Officer Budgam visited Beerwah and Waterhail to assess the damages to the Orchards due to Hailstorm in these areas. Chief Horticulture Officer Budgam assured the Orchardists to help them in every possible way. Chief Horticulture Officer Budgam advised the Farmers/Orchardists to follow the Advisory Issued by the Office of the Chief Horticulture Officer Budgam late in the evening of 25th of May ,which is available on the Social Media Handles of the Department and also communicated to the Orchardists of the District through “Farmers Whatsapp Groups” of the Horticulture Zones, in order to mitigate the after affects of the Hailstorm. Chief Horticulture Officer assured Farmers that following advisory will hopefully recover the hailstorm affected fruit trees.

DC Anantnag presides over Orientation programme of DAKSH KISAN

*KU reschedules physical efficiency test scheduled on tomorrow in view of inclement weather*


Srinagar, May 25: The Directorate of Physical Education and Sports, University of Kashmir, on Thursday rescheduled the Physical Efficiency Test for admission to M.PEd Programme which was scheduled to be held on May 26, 2023 in view of inclement weather.


The test will now be held on May 30, 2023 and the venue and timing will remain unchanged, as per a notification issued by Coordinator, DPES. (KNS).

*Police file charge sheet against accused in Budgam murder case*


Srinagar, May 25(KNS): District Police Budgam on Thursday submitted a challan in the brutal r**e and murder case of a lady in Soibug, two and a half months after the incident.


The deceased lady was reported missing on 8th March 2023 and a missing report was lodged in the police post Soibug. It was later discovered during the search that she had been murdered and her body dismembered.

During the investigation, police arrested Shabir Ahmad Wani of Mohanpora Budgam for his involvement in the crime and a case FIR No 53/23 U/S 302 IPC was lodged in Police Station Budgam.

It was further revealed that the victim had been r**ed before being murdered and dismembered.

This led to the addition of the r**e charge under section 376 of the IPC. The accused, Shabir Ahmad Wani is currently in judicial custody.

The charge sheet containing charges under Sections 302, 376, and 201 of the IPC has been produced in the court of Honble Chief Judicial Magistrate Budgam today, on 25th May 2023.(KNS).

*Srinagar, May 25(KNS):* Historic three Day G20 event (May 22-24) comes to an end today with delegates taking a flight back and leaving behind all good memories to be cherished by the people of Jammu and Kashmir for long. This event has opened new vistas and hopes, denouncing many myths and fake anti-Kashmir and anti-peace narratives based on falsehood and propagated by our neighbouring country.


People of Kashmir deserve special compliments for seeing through the falsehood of Pak narratives and welcoming and participating in the event in every way wholeheartedly. The delegates not only enjoyed the beauty of Kashmir but also lauded the local people and their hospitality.

The security arrangements made for the event were least obtrusive, ensuring full normal life and business for the people. Srinagar, May 23 (KNS): The results of the Union Public Service Commission Civil Services Examination 2022 were announced, and a remarkable achievement came from a talented youth hailing from the Anantnag district in south Kashmir who has secured an impressive 7th rank in the prestigious examination.


Bhat, a 24-year-old civil engineer who graduated from the National Institute of Technology Srinagar, joyfully expressed, "I am thrilled with my performance in the examination. This achievement is a testament to the unwavering support I received from my loved ones".

*Former IAS officer Khurshid Ganai congratulates UPSC qualifiers*

*Srinagar, May 23 (KNS):*
Former Advisor to the Governor and retired IAS officer Khurshid Ahmed Ganai from erstwhile J&K cadre has congratulated the two youngsters Waseem Ahmed Bhat from Dooru, Anantnag and Prasenjeet Kaur from Poonch who qualified the UPSC's civil services examination, 2023 and secured 7th and 11th rank respectively.

Ganai said that their success will motivate more youngsters to prepare for and take the civil services examinations of UPSC and J&K PSC. He further said that there is need for more bright and meritorious youngsters belonging to
J&K to join the civil services in Jammu and Kashmir to ensure more local officers at senior administrative positions in the Union Territory .

"It is a moment of pride for J&K particularly districts Anantnag and Poonch which gained attention across the country because of Waseem Ahmad Bhat of Dooru and Prasenjeet Kaur of Poonch who cracked the UPSC Civil Services Exam with such high ranks ," Ganai said
while congratulating the UPSC qualifiers.

"My best wishes are with Waseem Ahmad Bhat from Anantnag who has secured 7th rank and Prasanjeet Kour from Poonch who got 11th rank in the exam. Besides I congratulate each and every candidate from
J&K who cracked the said exam and wish them best of luck for their future assignments," he added. *(KNS)*

*J&K Not A Land Of Hartals Or Stone Pelters Now: LG Manoj Sinha*

*Says G20 meet in Srinagar biggest gathering of foreign delegates so far*

*Srinagar, May 23 (KNS):* Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday said that today's Jammu and Kashmir is not the land of hartals or stones pelters, its the land of peace and prosperity.

Addressing a press conference on the sidelines of ongoing 3rd G20 Tourism Working Group meeting in Srinagar, Sinha, as per Kashmir News Service (KNS) said that schools and colleges remain open, allowing youth to focus on career building.

He said that today's Jammu Kashmir is not the land of hartals or stone pelters, its the land of peace and prosperity that responsible & responsive administration is trying too hard to bring in lives of the people.

He also said that 3rd Tourism Working Group Meeting in Srinagar is the biggest gathering of foreign delegates so far. "57 delegates from 27 countries are participating in the G20 meeting at Srinagar and it is the reflection of India's strength and our ancient values of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam'," he said.

Sinha said that the sustained reforms, including a new film policy, modern infrastructure & ease of doing business, has transformed Jammu Kashmir into a preferred destination for shooting of films, which is also strengthening the economy & providing employment opportunity to the people.

"Grassroots democracy has been growing from strength to strength. The three-tier PRI system has ensured stability and consistency in development and participation of people in policy making," he added.

Sinha further said that Jammu Kashmir is future ready and ambitious. "Our multi-sectoral achievements reflect that. We are registering a new start-up every other day."

"In the last four years, we have registered 7.7 lakh new entrepreneurs, which roughly means that per day 527 youth started their entrepreneurial journey to contribute to their individual and Jammu Kashmir's growth," he said. *(KNS)*
